Released after Eight Years in Prison, Mr. Cai Zidong of Shiyan City, Hubei Province, Still Has No Freedom

Mr. Cai Zidong, 40, from Shiyan City, Hubei Province, worked as a designer at the Design Institute of Shiyan City Dongfeng Motor Vehicle Company. Mr. Cai started practicing Falun Gong in 1994, and he was also the volunteer assistant at the Shiyan City Falun Gong exercise site. In 2000, Mr. Cai was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Shiyan City District Court. He was imprisoned at Hubei Province Qinduankou Prison, and Hubei Province Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang County.

He was scheduled to be released on October 12, 2007, but on October 11, the Shiyan City 610 Office took him to the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center in Jianghan District, Wuhan City. The staff of the brainwashing center did not allow Mr. Cai to sleep, and they beat and cursed him on a daily basis. Mr. Cai was tortured so much that he is now disfigured, but he still firmly insists on holding on to his beliefs. After three months of torture in the brainwashing center, on January 23, 2008, Mr. Cai went back to his home in Shiyan City.

The local police and 610 Office agents are nevertheless still harassing him. They are constantly monitoring his calls and his home, and he is not allowed to leave Shiyan City.
