Mr. Duan Xinjun, a famous bassist

Reporter: "What did you think of this show?"

Duan Xinjun: "It was great, very pure."

Reporter: "How would you compare it with the shows in China?"

Duan Xinjun: "Most arts in China are not pure anymore. They have all been commercialized. People cannot see the original Chinese arts in China now. In my opinion, all the attempts of combining Western and Chinese arts failed because they don't understand what the real Chinese culture is. There are many other reasons. The major reason is underlying rule that 'the arts must serve the Party.' That is why there are no profound contents in the arts in China."

Reporter: "What stands out to you the most about this show?"

Duan Xinjun: "It reminds me of my childhood. I grew up in the performing arts community, watching shows and operas. At that time, performers strove to meet high standards in the arts. But it's not like that now. Even the pursuit of the arts is not pure anymore. During this show, I saw the pure belief and spirits of the performers. The show is very pure. That is why this show is incomparable. Westerners need to come to this show to learn about Chinese culture. The Communist Party shows are worthless.

Most shows in China use background music made on the computer. Very few shows can afford live orchestras.

What I appreciate about this show the most is that this show is real art, not for money."

Reporter: "Have you heard about the interference with the show from the Chinese government?"

Duan Xinjun: "I heard about it. It's really disturbing. The Divine Performing Arts is an American arts company. How can the Communist Party keep an American arts company from performing in Sweden? It is really ridiculous. I think those Chinese embassy officials are ridiculous and laughable."

Background of Pangu Band:

Pangu Band was formed in 1995 in China. Their songs speak out against the tyrannical Chinese Communist regime. The band is famous for being anti-communist. The lead singer, Au Bo, and the bassist, Duan Xinjun, escaped from China in 2004 and live in Sweden now. They have composed many anti-dictatorship songs and produced many CDs. Many people have downloaded their songs on the internet, which are available for free.
