Falun Gong Practitioners on Hunger Strike Subjected to "Dead Man's Bed" Torture in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) On February 21, 2008, the director of the No. 1 men's division of the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp obtained "dead man's beds" and forced all "personal cangues" [Note: "cangues" are detainees assigned by the division head to implement close surveillance on practitioners] to use them on Falun Gong practitioners who went on hunger strikes.

According to eyewitnesses, four practitioners--Chen Kaiqiu, Liu Qing, Gao Yuling, and Han Ximin--from the No. 2 brigade were viciously beaten by prison inmates. Practitioner Zhen Haitao (from the No. 3 brigade) and Chen Yan (from the No. 1 brigade) were tied to the "dead man's bed." Their limbs were stretched out in four different directions. An object was inserted in their mouths so that they could not close their mouths or speak. They were force fed, their lives are in danger.

On February 14, practitioner Zhao Jian shouted "Falun Dafa is good" in the prison cafeteria and demanded that the persecution be stopped. Zhao Jian from Hebei Province was transferred to the No. 3 brigade of the No. 1 prison center from Tuanhe Prisoner Dispatching Center last September. He was beaten by the guards for two days, and some of the practitioners in the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 brigades started hunger strikes and demanded that the perpetrators be punished. On February 18, the captain of the guards of the No. 2 brigade, Pan Hongzhou, beat practitioner Gao Yuling. More practitioners went on hunger strikes in protest of this event. At the same time, all of the practitioners in the No. 2 brigade went on a work strike and refused to perform hard labor, including those practitioners who went on hunger strikes starting on February 7. Almost all the practitioners in the No. 1 men's division went on hunger strikes.

Currently, practitioner Feng Guofu in the No. 6 brigade has been sent to the prison hospital for emergency care. Even the practitioners' families are under pressure. The mother of practitioner Chen Yan from Heilongjiang Province suffered a heart attack and is currently being hospitalized.
