Deputy County Mayor and His Family Rewarded for Protecting Falun Gong Practitioners

When China began its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, the deputy mayor was in charge of the affairs at a 610 Office that was created to suppress Falun Gong. Because he had read Zhuan Falun and other Falun Gong books, he knew Falun Gong was good and, thus, turned a blind eye to the orders to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

When the 2000 Chinese New Year was approaching, the county 610 Office and Public Security Bureau (PSB) secretly arrested over 100 practitioners. His subordinates asked him for a plan to continue the persecution of practitioners in the county, so he replied, "Why did you arrest so many people? They are good people in our county!" He ordered their immediate release so that they could spend the upcoming Chinese New Year with their families. Some of his subordinates, who didn't understand much about Falun Gong and were afraid of being punished by their superiors, argued, "Who will be responsible if we get blamed for their release?" The deputy mayor replied fearlessly, "I will!"

One day, the 610 Office and PSB arrested a practitioner schoolteacher in order to earn a bonus. The practitioner refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong in spite of being detained, so the authorities planned to transfer her to a remote area. She has two small children that attend school and a husband with a daytime job. Without her, her family could not function. When the deputy mayor learned that the practitioner had been a hardworking schoolteacher who never complained, he was determined to reverse the decision to arrest her. Again, the deputy mayor protected Falun Gong.

His repeated acts of kindness eventually led to good fortune for him and his family. He was promoted to department head. His son skipped grades in high school and went to college ahead of his peers. Not long ago, he passed the entrance exam to a graduate school.

Those who know the truth about Falun Gong and treat Falun Gong with kindness will ultimately be rewarded. Those who commit crimes against Falun Gong will ultimately meet karmic retribution. Please treat Falun Gong practitioners with kindness.
