(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 31 practitioners were subjected to brutality during their detention and at least 37 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Zhou Yingchun from Suizhong County, Liaoning Province was illegally arrestedon the morning of February 25, 2008. Afterwards, she was detained in the Huludao City Detention Center, where she suffered brutal mistreatment. As a result, she was injured in several places, and her lumbar vertebra was fractured. At present, she is detained in the Huludao City Police Hospital and subject to further mistreatment.

Ms. Shen Wenling was critically ill in the Huludao City Detention Center. She was taken to the Huludao City Police Hospital and subjected to further mistreatment. The situation of Ms. Yang Zhaoying is unknown. Other practitioners that were detained in the Suizhong County Detention Center held a hunger strike, and were then taken to the Suizhong County Hospital for resuscitation, for their lives were in danger. Ms. Yang Hong also held a hunger strike in the Huludao City Detention Center, and she became critically ill.

At about 8:30 a.m. on March 12, 2008, Ms. Ji Ping was illegally arrested from home by police officers of the Pingfang Police Station under the jurisdiction of the Xiangfang Police Department. At present, she is detained in the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center.

On the morning of February 25, 2008, Ms. Zhang Xiaohua went to the home of a fellow practitioner at the Jinzhou City Nu'er River Textile Mill to send some Dafa materials. It just so happened that some police officers were searching the home. She was illegally arrested by these officers. On March 12, 2008, the officers searched Ms. Zhang's home and arrested another practitioner living in her home.

As of March 15, eleven illegally arrested practitioners have been holding a hunger strike for 19 days. Their lives are in imminent danger. Almost every day, their families entreat Zhang Minghua (male) and Wang Jinglong (male) to release them, but their requests are unreasonably rejected. The officers have prohibited the family members from visiting the practitioners. On March 12 and March 13, 2008, Ms. Yu Huijuan and Ms. Li Yingxuan were taken to hospital for intravenous drips. Witnesses saw that Ms. Li Yingxuan was emaciated, and her face was hard to identify.

On March 5, 2008, an unknown female practitioner was illegally arrested at the Thermal Power Plant (of the Refined Coal Corporation) bus stop. A total of 30 police officers took turns interrogating her in groups of four officers. She refused to answer any questions and held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. An officer beat her head with his fists; consequently, his hands became so painful that he dared not to do such evil deeds again. On March 10, 2008, the practitioner returned home.

Another illegally arrested practitioner, Ms. Xu Yan, 18 years old, had 2,000 yuan stolen from her. Ms. Cao, also 18 years old, was brutally beaten. They are on a hunger strike to protest.

On the morning of March 6, 2008, four police officers from the Linjiaping Police Station in Lin County illegally searched Mr. Lin Jibao's home while he was not at home and confiscated some material. Later, five practitioners, including Mr. Lin and Mr. Song Weize, were arrested.

At about 8 p.m. on March 1, 2008, eight officers from the Guozhuang Town government office and family planning office, with wooden clubs and flashlights in hand, broke into Mr. Zhang Xiuqiang's home and searched it illegally. They found nothing. Since Mr. Zhang was not at home at the time, the officers forcibly took his father away. Afterwards, several officers covered the father's head with a red cloth and took turns beating him and kicking him with leather shoes.

On the morning of March 4, 2008, Ms. Cao Jianqun, a practitioner from Xinjin County, was illegally arrested by officers of the Xinjin County 610 Office while she was working at the Xinjin County Family Planning Bureau. She was taken directly to the Caiwan Brainwashing Center to be persecuted.

After Ms. Deng Yuqing and Ms. Guo Qinglan, practitioners from Xinbin County, Fushun City, were illegally arrested, Ms. Deng was taken to the Wujiabaozi Forced Labor Camp, and Ms. Guo was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.

Recently, seven or eight practitioners were illegally arrested, and their homes were searched. Much of their equipment and cash was stolen. Several families had about 10, 000 yuan stolen from them. Among the arrested practitioners, many are over 70 years old.

Recently, Mr. Liu Junrui, Mr. Zhang Lijun and Mr. Zhang Lizhi were arrested and detained, and their homes were searched. Mr. Ba Huiyin was illegally sentenced. The police issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Zhang Lijun and Mr. Liu Junrui, plotting to sentence them to prison. When the family of Mr. Liu Junrui demanded the return of his car from the police, the police told them to pay 5,000 yuan. Finally, the police extorted 2, 000 yuan from Mr. Liu's family before discharging the car.

It is said that 70-year-old Ms. Zhang Ruihua was recently harassed by police officers who called at her home.

Ms. Zheng Xiufen, 59 years old, is from Majiagou Street, Tangshan City. At about 1 p.m. on March 13, 2008, her home was searched by police officers of the Malu Police Station in Kaiping District. After a female officer deceived her into opening her door, more than 10 hiding officers swarmed in, and confiscated her computer, printer, and other property, which added up to more than 30,000 yuan in value. So far, Ms. Zheng has avoided illegal arrest.

Mr. Zhao Tongxiao is detained in Cell 125 of the Shujiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center. The arrest warrant for him has been issued. Ms. Zhang Yuxia, who was arrested at the same time as Mr. Zhao, has been released.

Practitioner Ms. Liu Lina's husband was released the same night. After Ms. Liu was detained in the No. 1 Detention Center for 12 days, her arrest warrant was issued.

On March 12, 2008, Mr. Yin Baoyin from Mancheng County was illegally arrested by officers of the Chengguan Police Station in Mancheng County. After that, Mr. Wei Haihe and Ms. Yin Yuxian were arrested by officers of the Chengguan Police Station. Ms. Yin Fengqin, Mr. Fan Guotian, and Ms. Gao Yuzhen were forced to leave home.

At about 10 p.m. on March 11, 2008, Mr. Yin Baoyin from Mancheng County was illegally arrested when he was on night duty at the Beiping Hotel in Mancheng County. The next day, practitioner Mr. Wei Haihe, the owner of the hotel, and his daughter Ms. Wei Yanli, the lawyer for the hotel, were also illegally arrested. At present, these three people are detained in the Mancheng County Detention Center.

At around noon on March 14, 2008, Ms. Ma Xinying from Liujiajiaotou Village, Dongcheng District, Linqu County was illegally arrested at home by four police officers.

On March 7, 2008, Ms. Yuan Yueling from Liyi Township, Lingchuan County was illegally arrested at her home by officers of the Lingchuan County Police Department. The officers also confiscated property such as a computer and a printer. At present, Ms. Yuan is detained in the Lingchuan County Detention Center.

At about 2 p.m. on March 6, 2008, Mr. Zhao Xiufeng from Zhuolu County went to Chaoyangsi Village to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. Liu Shun (male), the CCP's Village Secretary, arrested him and took him to the local police station. Later, he was detained in the Zhuolu County Detention Center for three days by authorities of the State Security Division. Dong Fei (male), an officer of the State Security Division, extorted 3,000 yuan from Mr. Zhao's family before releasing him.

Ms. Gao Yuchen is a teacher of the Security Education Division of a mining company in Zaozhuang City. She has been arrested before for her belief in Falun Gong.

On March 1, 2008, during a class break, she clarified the truth about Dafa to her students and distributed some flyers. She was reported to the Division Leader by two students. On March 5, 2008, she was illegally arrested by police. Her family repeatedly requested her release without success. She has been transferred to the Shandong Province Women's Prison.
