My Understanding on Looking Inward By a practitioner from China
(Clearwisdom.net) Each of our disciples is a very tiny part of Master's
Dafa. During the process of Fa-rectification, as a single being, each disciple
is also a minuscule part of the new cosmos that has been created by Dafa. The
gods however can see that Dafa disciples will become very great righteous gods.
But no matter how good our inborn quality is or how high a level we came from,
without Master's Fa-rectification, there will be nothing, and everything will
disintegrate with the old cosmos. Master has said that Fa-rectification period
Dafa disciples are great. I believe that this is Master's encouragement and that
Master cherishes each one of us. While facing Master and in the Fa-rectification,
we should maintain the state of humility. If we keep this state of mind, we will
position ourselves correctly and eliminate the attachment to self, especially
for those disciples who are coordinators or are in charge of the projects and
have made some achievements. As Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples, if we are not humble and do not
have clear understandings of the Fa , we could easily start focusing on our
personal abilities and our individual understandings. As a result, we could
unconsciously become attached to placing ourselves above other disciples. This
attachment would be a major obstacle affecting our ability to look inward. I find that when many fellow practitioners come to understand some principles
through Fa-study, they may not think they should correct their words and actions
according to the Fa and improve their xinxing, but instead
think that a certain practitioner has a certain attachment and that he or she
should improve their xinxing in this regard. There are also some fellow
practitioners, who while sharing during group Fa-study, as soon as looking
inward is mentioned they say, "We are not on the Fa and we should
improve." They are not examining themselves, but examining "us."
It seems that they may be looking inward, but actually they are examining others
and trying to find others' deficiencies. This is not truly looking inward, but
using looking inward as an excuse for looking outward. Other practitioners share
with others and look inward, but their mindset is not to correct themselves, but
to show that they have discovered their deficiencies and therefore show that
they have cultivated well. Unconsciously they have thoughts of placing
themselves above others. Actually if they have this kind of thought they are not
truly examining themselves. In my opinion, looking inward involves finding deficiencies in personal
cultivation and unconditionally correcting ourselves and harmonizing with the
whole body. We should not ask others to improve according to the Fa that we
understand, and to harmonize with our personal thoughts. In fact, when we have
this kind of thought our attachment of placing ourselves above others is
manifesting, and we are seeking to change others, not ourselves. The above are some of my understandings about the Fa principles regarding
looking inward. Please point out anything inappropriate. Posting date: 4/17/2008 |
