Chinese Person in Adelaide: Creativity of Divine Performing Arts Cannot Be Found in Mainland China (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) Adelaide, Australia was immersed in warm sunshine on the afternoon of April 15, 2008. That day the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular, performed at the Adelaide Festival Theatre, won waves of warm applause and left Chinese Australians in admiration of traditional Chinese culture.

Mr. Li and his family moved to Australia three months ago. Mr. Li took his wife and son to see the Chinese Spectacular. He said that the creativity of Divine Performing Arts was something that couldn't be found in China. He exclaimed, "The performance was great!" and further commented that the content was easily accessible to both Chinese and Western people.

Mr. Li especially like the traditional music and the creative ideas in the dance, "Nymphs of the Sea." He said, "There are some [similar-style] dances in China, but none was as creative as this one." Mr. Li was also very familiar with the "Mongolian Bowl Dance" because his father's generation lived in Mongolia. He knew that the bowl dance required a very high skill level.

Mr. Li said that the music in China today was for profit, not for promoting art. He felt that it is great to promote Chinese culture in western countries. "My son had never seen dances of the Tang Dynasty. It showed him what classical Chinese means. Even though he had learned some historical stories previously, he had never actually seen them performed or listened to such music. The program broadened my son's views."

Mr. and Mrs. Tu and their friend Mr. Jia loved the show. Mr. Jia said it was admirable that all the songs in the show were original creations. "Chinese people are tired of the Chinese Communist Party's singing of their merits and praising their 'virtue.' They all sound the same." Mr. Jia said the whole performance was very attractive. He added that such a show was very hard to find in China. "The divine culture is hard to find in China. It belongs to China, but we have to come here to watch it."
