(Clearwisdom.net) After performing in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane,
Divine Performing Arts graced the stage at the Canberra Theatre Center on April
11, 2008, and presented the essence of Chinese culture with divine origins to a
full house. For Joseph Chou, a Taiwanese diplomat based in Australia, the Spectacular
was more than a show, "Brilliant, just brilliant! It's not just pretty
faces and pretty costumes; it actually exudes the inconceivable complexity and
wisdom of a 5,000-year-old culture. The drums lifted my spirits, and the
'Mongolian Bowl Dance' was gorgeous! I loved it." Taiwanese diplomat Joseph Chou "I think this is a special performance and not just any stage show.
Speaking of the spiritual content, it introduces Falun Gong's principles to the
world, and it also expresses the subtle grace of Chinese culture." Chou mentioned how touching it was for Divine Performing Arts to portray
Chinese traditions in this way, which was not only creative but would also have
a powerful and lasting impact. "The wonders of our culture have momentous and profound appeal. Divine
Performing Arts brings it to life through dance, music and other artistic forms.
I think it's great! It's very interesting." (Translated from http://www.minghui.org/mh/articles/2008/4/12/176375.html) Lin Songhuan from the Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Australia took
his wife to the Spectacular. It was their first time seeing such a
performance, and they agreed that every program was "deliciously exquisite
and also successfully revealed what lies beneath the surface of Chinese culture,
which far surpasses popular perception." They said, "The Spectacular
took the audience on a surprise journey of discovery that ended in a treasure
trove previously unknown to the world. Throughout the two-hour performance
filled with pure compassion, the Spectacular never failed to amaze and
thrill us." Lin Songhuan, a representative from the Taipei Economics and
Cultural Office in Australia Mr. Lin said he thought that the classical music in the Spectacular
revived the grandeur of a bygone era that was affluent, genteel, and elegant. He
thought the dancers spellbinding and accurate in depicting different characters.
In Mr. Lin's opinion, "It's obvious that they received strict training that
allowed them to achieve high technical standards. The show makes it easy for
people to appreciate the breadth and depth of a culture that would otherwise
restrict itself to the history books." He especially applauded "Drummers of the Tang Court" and
"Victory Drums," saying, "These two programs are an exemplary
blend of breathtaking beauty, controlled power, and alternating rhythms; they
instantly captured my heart. Also, the scene where Chang E flew toward the moon
was so poetic and vivid." Mr. Lin said he responded most strongly to the traditional dances that
reflected a diverse set of values such as Buddhist tenets, filial piety,
loyalty, and benevolence. "Each program was a masterpiece and they were
seamlessly strung together. Every turn of the hand and lift of the foot was
carried out with delicate precision. I want to congratulate Divine Performing
Arts for a consummate success! You are being warmly embraced by everyone here,
especially your Australian friends. I very much appreciate the opportunity to
watch this fabulous show, and I hope DPA will return to Canberra next
year." Mr. Lin's wife expressed her joy at being greatly impressed by the Spectacular,
saying that morality and kindness should be the main thread in everyone's life. (Translated from http://www.minghui.org/mh/articles/2008/4/12/176376.html) Ms. Lu Xinrong is a piano teacher. She said, "My favorite was the
opening program, 'Descent of the Celestial Kings.' But, in fact, everything
shone in striking beauty, and the stage setup was immaculate." Mrs. Lin Songhuan (left) and friend Ms. Lu Xinrong at the Spectacular Ms. Lu mulled over the more pensive aspects of the show, "The visual and
sound effects are secondary to what I felt was a cleansing process. During the
performance, my heart was purified and uplifted. I was wrapped in the power of
compassion. The dancers had incredible skills; they looked stunning and the
backdrop was out of this world." "This was the first time for me to see a show like this. I love Chinese
culture."
