A Few Words On Compassion

(Clearwisdom.net) A few days ago, I was discussing righteous thoughts with some fellow practitioners. We were sharing understandings of sending righteous thoughts to eliminate evil factors so that officials who participate in the persecution will meet with their due retribution. One practitioner said, "Some practitioners in our area do not include the thought to have them suffer retribution. They feel it is not compassionate to do so. They felt that we were cursing them." Practitioners have been sending righteous thoughts for many years, yet somehow, instead of meeting with retribution, many of the evildoers continue to persecute practitioners. The main reason behind this omission may be that we do not understand the true essence of sending righteous thoughts.

Master has taught us, "The Fa is merciful to all beings, but at the same time it's solemn and dignified." ("Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference") I want to ask those fellow practitioners: When you hear or see fellow practitioners being tortured, is it compassionate if you remain indifferent to their suffering? We know that "Due to karma resulting from past wrongdoing, one has illnesses or tribulations; suffering is repaying a karmic debt." (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun, 2000 Translation Version) How do those policemen and officials pay for their sins resulted from persecuting Dafa practitioners? Can they really afford to pay back everything that they've done? Of course, if they decide to listen to the truth, and stop torturing practitioners, they will have a bright future. Nevertheless, if they have been polluted too deeply by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) propaganda, and refuse to listen to the truth, what will happen to them? Shouldn't we save these sentient beings as well? If they suffer some immediate retribution, won't they be scared, and hence will do fewer evil deeds, and even stop participating in the persecution? Because of that, they will accumulate less karma, and tribulations. From then on, they probably will be willing to listen when having the truth clarified to them. When that happens, won't they be saved? Even though they will still need to pay for their karma, they will not have to endlessly suffer in extreme pain and misery, nor will they be completely destroyed. This is the true compassion, and this is also the mighty virtue that we should all uphold!

Fellow practitioners, we are all one body. We should walk this final phase of our path with a righteous mind, and lay aside all human attachments. Let's all assimilate to the Fa, so as to completely disintegrate the evil elements in our area, as well as those in nearby areas. In doing so, we are clearing out the environment so that even more sentient beings can be saved.
