Practitioner Mr. Wang Hongfa Sentenced to a Forced Labor Camp--His Wife and Daughter Are Monitored and His Father is Seriously Ill

Guangzhou practitioner Mr. Wang Hongfa was taken into custody on July 16, 2007. On August 20, 2007, he was illegally sentenced to a one-and-a-half year forced labor term at the Third Brigade of the Third Station of Huadu Forced Labor Camp in Guangzhou City. Mr. Wang's wife, Ms. Deng Yi, has tried to visit him four times, but was refused by the forced labor camp officials each time.

Mr. Wang's father is 70 years old and lives in Hubei Province. In October 2007, Mr. Wang's father was diagnosed with liver cancer. Since he is critically ill, Ms. Deng asked the labor camp officials to allow Mr. Wang to see his father for one last time. The labor camp officials, however, refused her request and also threatened her.

Both Mr. Wang's wife and daughter live in a very stressful environment, as they are constantly monitored by plainclothes police and some of their neighbors.
