(Clearwisdom.net) Between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on March 1, 2008, authorities in Anqiu City staged large-scale arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. Participating were more than 50 police officers who arrived in 20 vehicles. They were from the Anqiu City Police Department, the Vice Squad, the Xingan Street Police Station, as well as people from the 610 Office. These individuals encircled Zongzipo Village at Xingan Street, Xiaoxinzhuang Village, and Nanxin Village in Anqiu City. They illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioners and wantonly searched their homes.

As far as we know at this point, the arrested practitioners included: Tian Xuekun at Zongzipo Village (male, 57 years old), Han Meiqin (female, 50 years old), Sun Yeqing (female, 50 years old), Li Xiuzhi (female, 60 years old), Wang Xiuyun (female, 60 years old), Tian Zhiyou (not a Falun Gong practitioner), Tian Shuzhen at Xiao Xin Villiage (female, 60 years old), and Jiang Guixiu at Nanxin Village (female, 65 years old). Tian Zhiyou was arrested for saying to the police, "You behave just like bandits" when they searched his home. During the arrest and home searches, the police took all the cash from the practitioners' pockets. It was reported that Tian Zhiyou, Wang Xiuyun, and Li Xiuzhi returned home that same day.

At 8:00 a.m. that same morning, more than 20 police officers from the Anqiu City Domestic Security Division, from the Police Officers' Group, from the Liu Jiayao Police Station and from the Jiage Police Station broke in and arrested practitioners Wang Peizhi and his daughter Wang Xiaomin at Hanjiahou Village. The police taped Wang Peizhi's mouth shut and tied him up because they were afraid he would clarify the facts about Falun Gong to people. Wang Xiaomin defied the police. They tied her with rope and carried her downstairs from the fifth floor. Wang Xiaomin's eight year-old son was frightened by the terrible sight and kept trembling and crying helplessly. The persecutors also confiscated the family's computer, TV, DVD, and other items.

In the meantime, the police also arrested Wang Peizhi's son-in-law, practitioner Li Zhiguang, who was at work at the thermal power plant.

Police also arrested practitioner Li Rendong from Tiange Villiage, Jiage County, Anqiu. These police officers were from the Xingan Street Police Station in Anqiu.

Practitioner Liu Qingmei from Daxiapo Villiage, Shidui County, Anqiu was arrested from home that same morning, together with another practitioner, name unknown, from Baoquan County.

Anqiu City Police Department Deputy head Cheng Shuping was Political and Security Section chief, specifically in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong. When he tortured practitioners he shouted, "Jiang Zemin is impotent, but I am not. I just don't believe I can't handle Falun Gong." He was ruthless in his persecution methods and was twice consecutively awarded the distinction of Third Class Order. He then advanced to the position of head of the 110 Section, deputy head of the Anqiu City Police Department. Li Shenghua, Security Corps leader. He has abused and mistreated practitioners under the persecution for eight years. He looks kind but is actually an angry person, furious most of the time and always doing bad things.
