Additional Persecution News from China - March 14, 2008 (22 Reports)

persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties. In this report, 12
practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least
17 practitioners were illegally arrested. 1. [Changzhou City, Hunan Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhao Sanmei
on Hunger Strike to Protest Persecution On March 11, 2008, in front of Hao-Bi-Jia Supermarket near her home, Ms. Zhao
Sanmei was reported to officials and taken into custody because she had
practiced the Falun Gong exercises. At around 3:00 p.m., four police officers
broke into her home and tried to conduct an illegal search, but did not succeed.
Zhao Sanmei is now being held in the Changzhou City Qingtan New Village Police
Station. She has been on a hunger strike for the three days since she was
arrested. 2. [Beijing] Song Zhangwen and Zhou Xiuchun Illegally Sentenced to Forced
Labor On January 3, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners Song Zhangwen and Zhou Xiuchun
were arrested and then sentenced to two years of detention by the Beijing
Detention Committee. 3. [Beijing] Persecutors Refuse to Provide Detention Documents to Bai Shaohua
and Yang Hui's Families On February 20, 2008 Falun Gong practitioners Bai Shaohua and Yang Hui were
illegally arrested and sent to Beijing Daxing District Forced Labor

86-10-89687608, Meng Xiang Hai, director of the detention center: 86-10-61697828 4. [Tianjin] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Yao Zhanfeng Arrested In early March 2008, while on a bus from Tianjin to Beijing, Mr. Yao Zhanfeng
was arrested by police officers from the Tianjin Public Security Bureau. They
confiscated two mobile phones, two books, and an MP3 player. 5. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhang
Shufeng Illegally Arrested On March 7, 2008, because she went to Beijing to appeal, Ms. Zhang Shufeng (a
resident of Shouguang City, the Shengchen Street Office, Jiuxiang Village) was
taken into custody. Later, she was taken away by a Shouguang City official. Her current detention location is unknown. 6. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Retired Senior Engineer, Ms. Liu Xun, 66,
is Arrested Retired senior engineer, Ms. Liu Xun, 66, was arrested without a warrant on

searched the Peking Hotel. They arrested a Falun Gong practitioner who is an
employee of the hotel, Mr. Yin Baoying. 8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zheng Xiufen's
Home Ransacked On March 13, 2008, in Tangshan City Ma Jiagou, the home of Falun Gong
practitioner Ms. Zheng Xiufen, 59, was ransacked by officers from the Kaiping
District Road Police Station. The police confiscated computers, printers, and
other personal items worth over 30,000 yuan. Ms. Zheng Xiufen has
since escaped. 9. [Wucheng County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Xiuyun Sent to Dezhou Detention
Center At about 2:00 p.m. on March 13, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Xiuyun
was arrested by the Wucheng County Public Security Bureau. She was sent directly
to Dezhou Detention Center. 10. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Hu Bian
Arrested on March 13, 2008 11. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Liu Zhengying
Illegally Detained On March 10, 2008, Mengying Public Security police from the Red Flag District
of Xinxiang City suddenly burst into and ransacked the home of Falun Gong
practitioner Ms. Liu Zhengying. They took her to the Xinxiang City Detention
Center. 12. [Huangmei City, Hubei Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Gao Xi Abused
at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province Ms. Gao Xi was born in 1986 in Huangmei City, Hubei Province. On September
30, 2007, she went to hand out Falun Gong information in the Shunde Daliang area
of Guangdong Province. Ms. Gao was taken into custody by the local police. She
is now being illegally detained in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp, in the Strict
Education Team, and is being subjected to brainwashing and harsh treatment. 13. [Huili City, Sichuan Province] Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Luo Jiping
and Hu Ze Arrested Ms. Luo Jiping and Hu Ze were arrested on March 2 , 2008 while
distributing information about Falun Gong in Huidong District. They are currently illegally detained in Santai County of Sichuan Province. 14. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Liang Guanqin Illegally Detained in
Santai County, Sichuan Province Sichuan Province, Mianyang City Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liang Guanqin was
taken into custody on December 3, 2007. He is now being illegally detained in
Santai City, Sichuan Province. 15. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Liu Bilian and Ms. Zhou Detained Yueyang City Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Bilian and Ms. Zhou were taken
into custody from their homes on March 4, 2008 by local Chinese Communist Party
(CCP) police. Detailed information will follow. 16. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yang Jinxiu
Taken to a Brainwashing Center On February 25, 2008, Ms. Yang Jinxiu was picked up by local police and
detained for 15 days. On March 11, she was picked up again by officers from the
People's North Street Office and sent to a brainwashing center. 17. [Xinnin County, Hunan Province] Ms. Xu Xiaoping and Her Mother Ms. Tang
Guilin Taken Into Custody by the National Security Team Ms. Xu Xiaoping and her mother, Ms. Tang Guilin, recently took up the
practice of Falun Gong. Trying to use their experiences to tell people about the goodness of Falun
Gong, they went on the street to hand out Falun Gong information and talk to
people. In March 2008, they were arrested by national security agents, who beat them
in the process. 18. [Heilongjiang Province] More Details about Persecution of Mr. Zhang
Xinkuan On the morning of March 6, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Xinkuan's
home was searched without a warrant by officers from the Public Security Bureau.
They confiscated Falun Dafa books and other personal items. Jiusan Public
Security Bureau and Heshan Farm Public Security Sub-bureau constantly harass Mr.
Zhang's family and his neighbors. Currently Mr. Zhang is living a homeless life

Persecution at the Ziyou Dalu Police Station On March 12, 2008, Changchun No. 2 Detention Center authorities returned
Falun Gong practitioner Li Wei to the Ziyou Dalu Police Station when his

Xueling Arrested Ms. Chang Xueling was arrested by Dalian City police on March 10, 2008, while
at the Children's Wonderland in Youyi Meilin Supermarket, Taoyuan Street. She is
currently being held in the local detention center. 21. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Ding
Zhengfang's Recent Situation The Dalian City Zhongshan District People's Court secretly tried Ms. Ding
Zhengfang in early March 2008. The officials intend to hold a second hearing on March 24, 2008. Dalian City Zhongshan District People's Court: 86-411-82802280 22. [Shandong Province] Facts about the Abuse of Falun Gong Practitioners by
Shouguang City Officials In March 2008, the Shouguang City 610 Office ordered intensified
levels of surveillance of Falun Gong practitioners, including harassment at
their homes. Some sub-townships require Falun Gong practitioners to report daily
to an official. Some townships have moved the practitioners to one detention
center to watch them. Falun Gong practitioner Zhu Xiangkuan and others from Zhujiacun Village
(located at Luocheng Street of Shouguang City) were illegally arrested. On the morning of March 10, 2008, Shouguang City Drawnwork Plant Falun Gong
practitioner Ms. Sun Guizhen and two other Falun Gong practitioners went to
visit the home of Mr. Gao Yuhai (a factory worker at Lianmeng Fertilizer
Factory), and were illegally arrested there. Ms. Sun Guizhen was allowed to
return home. The whereabouts of the other Falun Gong practitioners remain
unknown.
