Zhang Quanliang and Other Practitioners Severely Tortured at Yongchuan Prison in Chongqing

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhang Quanliang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chongqing, was arrested in December 2006. At present, Mr. Zhang is being held at the Thirteenth District of the Second Brigade in Yongchuan Prison. The practitioners imprisoned at Yongchuan Prison have all been subjected to various kinds of brutal torture.

The prison guards have forced practitioners to read books that defame and slander Falun Gong. The guards also deprived the practitioners of sleep or permitted practitioners to sleep for only two to three hours. For example, practitioners would go to bed at midnight, but at around 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, they were forced to get up to read slanderous books.

The guards prohibited Mr. Zhang from eating with others in the dining room. The criminal inmates who have been assigned to watch Mr. Zhang deliver the meals to him to eat by himself. He was often not given any breakfast. The inmates assigned to watch him have taken away the meat in his food and given it to other inmates, or they dropped the meat on the ground on purpose and then gave it to Mr. Zhang to eat. Sometimes, they simply dumped his food. Mr. Zhang is very pale and weak. He sweats when he walks, climbs upstairs, or does hard labor.

Practitioners are prohibited from using the bathroom, sometimes for 24 hours at a time. In addition, they are not allowed to take showers or do laundry. The guards force practitioners to kneel down and clean the floor with hand towels and rags. Guards stuff rags from the mop into practitioners' mouths to gag them so that they cannot speak. Guards and inmates frequently use batons, brooms, and mops to brutally beat practitioners, but they do not allow the practitioners to make any sound during the beatings. Consequently, the practitioners are covered with bruises and have difficulty moving.
