(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 7 provinces. In this report, 5 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 52 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On April 6, 2007, Mr. Li Xinjian's wife was detained for "clarifying truth" to others. When Mr. Li went to request the release of his wife he also clarified the truth. Consequently, he was taken to the Weifang Detention Center, where he was detained for 24 days. On April 30, 2007, he was taken to the Brainwashing Center in Weifang City and confined to a small cell for 24 hours a day. In the small cell he could not see the sun. He was confined because he refused to give up Falun Gong. He suffered extreme mental torment. In January, 2008, he was sentenced to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, where he was subjected to strict controls. He held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Finally, he developed a serious heart disease and hypertension. Due to the long-term persecution, he became extremely emaciated and his life was in danger.

On the morning of March 29, 2008, officers of the Gaoyu Police Station broke into practitioner Ms. Han Shuxian's home and arrested her. She was taken to the Qiaotou Detention Center and her home was ransacked.

On the night of April 23, 2008, several practitioners from Benxi City were arrested and detained in the white building in Caibei Community.

At about 1 a.m. on April 24, 2008, police officers of the Mingshan Police Station broke into the homes of Mr. Xiong Anming and Ms. Zhang Yulan, and seized money and property. They were taken to the Mingshan Police Station where money was extorted from them and they were subjected to confession by torture.

At about 8 p.m. on April 23, 2008, Ms. Wang Ronglan was arrested from her home by police officers from the Dongchnag Police Station. While Ms. Wang Ping and Ms. Liu Baozhen were calling Ms. Wang's home, they were also arrested. The officers seized a CD-recording machine and some CDs.

At about 3 p.m. on April 24, 2008, police officers of the Xinzhan Police Station deceived Ms. Ge Changlan into coming to their office while she was taking care of her granddaughter. At about 5 p.m. on the same day, six police officers escorted Ms. Ge back to her home and executed a search. A computer, two MP3 players, and two copies of "Minghui Weekly" published in 2006 were confiscated. Ms. Ge was taken to to the Tonghua County Detention Center and detained. Her family was allowed to send her some articles for daily use, but not allowed to see her.

On the night of April 23, 2008, six or seven police officers of the Criminal Police Team and Hongquan Township Police Station broke into the home of Mr. Wang Dianxue, a practitioner from the No. 6 Team, Huluosi Village, Hongquan Township, and ransacked it. Mr. Wang and his wife, Ms. Sun Shijie, were arrested and taken to a detention center. The couple was charged a 620 yuan meal fee for 15 days. Mr. Wang was able to escape. Several other practitioners were also arrested at this time.

At about 8 p.m. on April 23, 2008, police officers of the Hongguang Township Police Station in Tumen City broke into Ms. Yang Chunli's home in Jizhong Village. She was arrested and a photo of the founder of Falun Gong was confiscated. On April 24, 2008, she was taken to the Tumen City Detention Center. Ms. Zang Xiaoli was also arrested by police officers of Hongguang Township Police Station.

At the beginning of March 2008, Jiang Yulong (male), director of Wutai Township Police Station; officer Guo Fengjun (male); and other officers drove to a practitioner's home. They deceived him into opening his door and then ransacked the place without showing any identification. They fled after failing to find anything.

Police officers went to many practitioners' homes to harass, threaten, and coerce them into being fingerprinted.

On April 22, 2008, five police officers of 610 Office in Tanggu District, Police Department in Tanggu District, or Hetou Town Police Station, broke into Ms. Chen Zongyun's home and ransacked it. They seized a computer, a printer, a CD burner, CDs, and some cash with truth clarification messages printed on it. During the rude arrest process, Ms. Chen displayed serious symptoms of illness and was taken to a hospital. The police officers then left quickly to shirk any responsibility. Ms. Chen later returned to her home. The same day, one of her relatives who was visiting her home, along with five other practitioners, were arrested and interrogated. Among them, two were detained. On April 24, 2008, police officers went to their home again to harass them. As a result of this continued harassment, Ms. Chen and her husband were forced to leave their home and wander about.

On the night of April 23, 2008, police officers of State Security Division in Siping City, Changchun City, and Gongzhuling City, and officers from various police stations arrested practitioners, including Mr. Li Hongjun, Mr. Yan Lifei, Mr. Qu Yaping, Mr. Zhang Lihua, and Ms. Song Zhihong. Three practitioners escaped arrest. Mr. Yan Lifei was taken to the hospital that same night and taken home to his family the next day. Meanwhile, many other practitioners have been arrested.

On the night of April 22, 2008, many police officers went to the home of practitioner Ms. Yan Xiaojie There were police cars parked in front of the building where she lives. Ms. Gao Shuyu and Ms. Yue Xinying were staying with Ms. Yan. All three practitioners are currently missing. Ms. Le's home was also ransacked. Cigarette butts were found around the house; her laptop computer was confiscated, and she, too, is missing. At present, all of the practitioners have lost contact with their families and their whereabouts were unknown.

Around 7 p.m. on April 22, more than 10 police officers broke into Ms. Bai Yuping's home. When her husband came home at about 9 p.m., he found that their home had been ransacked. Ms. Bai was arrested by police officers from the Lvyuan District Police Station. On April 23, 2008, he was able to visit her at the police station.

On the morning of April 23, Mr. Li Jingsong, a computer repairman in the Ouya Technology Center, was illegally arrested by plainclothes police. On April 24, 2008, plainclothes police were still monitoring his workplace.

According to staff members of Technology Center on Changjiang Road, on April 24 a male practitioner went to the center to buy a CD, where he was arrested by the plainclothes officers who were tracking him. The practitioner shouted out, "Falun Dafa is good!" He was hit by the plainclothes police and some of the cashiers who were unclear about the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong also participated in the attack.

Ms. Chen Jingyu, 38 years old, worked in the maintenance center on the ninth floor of the Ouya Building. On April 23, 2008, she was arrested by police officers of the State Security Division of Nanguan District Police Department and Central State Security Bureau. She was taken to the No. 3 Detention Center in Shuangyang District that same day.

Mr. Wang Diancai, 69 years old, and his wife, Ms. Zhang Liqun, 62 years old, live in Daoli District, Haerbin City. Before the Pure Brightness Festival, they were arrested by police officers of the State Security Division of Nangang District Police Department, and their home was ransacked.

At present, Mr. Wang is detained in the detention center of the Nanguang District Police Department, and Ms. Zhang is detained in the No. 2 Detention Center of Haerbin City. For unknown reasons, she was taken to the hospital once.

Mr. Zhao Yan, more than 30 years old, was illegally arrested around 4 p.m. on April 3, 2008. His whereabouts is unknown. In the past he was arrested and forced to leave his home and he wandered about for years.

On the afternoon of April 3, several women practitioners from Tongnan County went to clarify the truth. They were reported to police and two of them were arrested. Ms. Ma was brought home by her family four hours later, and Ms. Tang is still detained.

At about 4 p.m. on April 23, 2008, when Mr. Li Shigang went to pick up his child from school, he was arrested by officers from the Tichengzi Police Station in Longntan District. The police also ransacked his mother-in-law's garage when there was no one home. At about 6 p.m. on the same day, the police broke into his brother-in-law's home, where Mr. Li's family was temporarily staying, and ransacked it, presenting a fake warrant. His family questioned the legality of the search and refused to accept it, however, the officers ransacked the rooms while they filled in the warrant. The police left after failing to find anything. Mr. Li's situation is currently unknown.

At about 10 p.m. on April 25, 2008, police officers of Chengnan Police Station in Yongji County arrested Ms. Wang Yanzhen, Ms. Zheng Jingzhi, Mr. Cai Dingxun, Ms. Qu, Ms. Jiang Bo, and Mr. Liu Zhongxin, Ms. Jiang Bo's husband. The officers also pried open Mr. Liu Zhongxin's security door and ransacked his home.

At about 6 a.m. on April 25, police officers of State Security Division in Taonan City broke into Ms. Bai Li's home and she was arrested. They ransacked her home and seized a computer and Dafa books.

Mr. Zhang Shouping and his wife, Ms. Zhang Guijin, were arrested on February 27, 2008. They were each sentenced to one year in a labor camp.

Mr. Xia Maoshu and his wife, Ms. Li Zhonghua, were arrested at about 5 p.m. on March 6, 2008. Mr. Xia was sentenced to one year in Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp, and Ms. Li was released.

On March 28, 2008, Mr. Song Zhanlin was arrested by police officers of Huayuan Police Station. At present, he is detained by the Tonghe County Police Department.

On the night of April 22, 2008, practitioners Ms. Zhou Xiuhui, Ms. Ding Shuhua, Ms. Sun Xia, and Ms. Li Yanbo took a taxi to Erzhan to distribute truth clarification materials. They were all arrested, including the taxi driver, by officers from the No. 1 Police Station of Donglin Bureau. They are currently detained in Donglin Detention Center.

On April 24, 2008, police officers ransacked Ms. Zhou Xiuhui's home. Her cell phone was seized and her family was threatened. On the same day, they ransacked Ms. Sun Xia's home and seized a computer. Also that day, the family of the taxi driver went to the detention center to request his release, but was not allowed to meet with the people in charge. The following day, Ms. Sun's mother and other relatives went to the detention center to request her release and were not allowed to meet with the people in charge.

On the morning of April 3, 2008, Ms. Li Feng was arrested by more than 10 police officers from the Criminal Police Team under Xifeng District Police Department, State Security Division, and Bei Street Police Station. She was detained at the Xifeng District Detention Center. On April 21, 2008, her sister and Ms. Qi Huirong, her neighbor, went to the Bei Street Police Station to request her release. They were pushed, shoved, beaten, and scolded by the director and four police officers. Ms. Li's sister, who is over 60 years old, was thrown to the ground and beaten for more than two hours. Her face bled profusely. The next day, they again went to the police station to request her release. This time, Ms. Qi was savagely beaten by the director and four police officers. She was seriously injured.

At about 5 or 6 p.m. on March 6, 2008, Ms. Zheng Guiyun was arrested while she was clarifying the truth and has been detained in the No. 2 Detention Center in Hefei City although she has not gone through any legal procedures. On the morning of March 13, 2008, police officers ransacked her home while her family was away. Her family has gone to the detention center many times to her inquire about her situation and request her release, but they have been denied information. It has been learned that she was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Ms. Bi Ruilan of Bijia Village, Taotian Town, Shouguang City, was reported to police while she was clarifying truth in Tianma Town at about 9 a.m. on March 24, 2008. She was arrested by Zhang Weixiang (male), a police officer from the Tianma Police Station, and her home was ransacked. She is currently detained in the Shouguang City Detention Center. Her family has requested her release several times without success.

At about 10 a.m. on March 24, 2008, eight police officers, including Zhang Weixiang, went to Ms. Li's home in Tianyi Village to harass her and they ransacked her home until 6 p.m. that evening.

At about 11:30 a.m. on March 31, 2008, police officers of the Daotian Town Police Station and Tianma Town Police Station went to Ms. Li Yingmei's home in Xiaonanhan Village to harass her and ransack her home. They seized four Dafa books and one article by the founder of Falun Gong. They also tried to forced Ms. Li into a police car, but were unsuccessful.

Mr. Du Deping and Mr. Du Dewu and their mother, Ms. Ma, from Jiuqing Village were arrested. Mr. Du Deping held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Consequently, he was taken to an unknown place. At about 10 p.m. on April 22, 2008, police officers ransacked Mr. Du Deping's home and the home of his elder brother. At that time, his elder brother was not at home and avoided being arrested.

Feng Qiyi (male), in his 30s, works in the same school as Ms. Tao Wei. He aided in monitoring Ms Tao over a long period of time for police officer Liu Song (male), until her arrest. She is currently detained at Lannigou Detention Center in Guiyang City. Her husband, Mr. Bao Jianwei, is detained in Wudang Detention Center in Guiyang City. Tian Guiping (male) of Nanming District Procuratorate is in charge of this case.

Mr. Liu Shunmin from Minhang District was arrested during the noon hour at his workplace for distributing truth clarification CDs on April 24, 2008. His home was ransacked. It has been learned that he is detained in the Minhang District Detention Center.
