(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 25 cities or counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 10 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least 42 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On the afternoon of March 19, police officers from Beijing's Xinqiao Police Station illegally arrested practitioner Ms. Zhao Pin after breaking into her home. Her current situation is unknown.

On the afternoon of April 20, more than 10 policemen from the Dongcheng District Police Department, led by Wu Xiulin from Dongheyan Police Station, arrested practitioners Ms. Bai Yanfang and Ms. Zhang Qinzhi. Their current situations are unknown.

Ms. Yang Xiuzhi, in her 50s, was arrested on October 24, 2008, and sentenced to two years of forced labor. At around 11 a.m. on April 18, 2008, police from the Shengli Police Station in Shunyi district arrested her again. Her home was ransacked and police confiscated more than 10,000 yuan.

On February 2, 2008, practitioner Mr. Li Yaolin, from Dabailao Village, Jiuxian Township, Yanqing County, Beijing, was arrested at a police checkpoint. He was on his way to Zhangshanying. Police found a copy of the book Zhuan Falun and some Falun Dafa amulets(1) among his belongings. On February 28, Mr. Li was taken to Daxin Forced Labor Camp. He was sentenced to two years of forced labor and brainwashing.

At 5:30 a.m. on April 30, 2008, police officers from the Tongzhou District Police Station in Beijing and Beidahua Police Station in Zhangjiawan Township ransacked the homes of Mr. Bai Wenhe and Mr. Gao Shiru in Luxinzhuang Village of Zhangjiawan Township. They arrested the two practitioners and confiscated pictures of Teacher, Falun Dafa books, truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong, CDs, and a satellite dish for receiving NTDTV broadcasts. They are being held in Qiaozhuang Detention Station.

On the night of April 30, 2008, Mr. Zhang Ruishan from Huanghuadian in Wuqing District, Tianjin City was arrested as he was painting Dafa phrases. On April 30, police arrested practitioner Mr. Hao Ying at his home.

Practitioner Mr. Chen Baigui was arrested when clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong during a festival in Changyi.

At around 10 a.m. on April 29, 2008, police from the Huancui District Police Station arrested Ms. Han Mingsu from Jin District in Weihai City when she was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong near Shiyan Middle School in Weihai City. She is currently detained at Weihai City Detention Center.

On March 25, 2008, Mr. Zhang Zedong was arrested. After two weeks of detention at Shouguang Detention Station, he was fined 20,000 yuan, and sentenced to two years of forced labor and brainwashing.

On March 27, staff from the neighborhood council arrested practitioner Ms. Hu Aiyun from Gucheng. She was detained for two weeks at the Shouguang City Detention Center, then sentenced to one year of forced labor and brainwashing.

Staff from the National Security Team in Zhuzhou City arrested Mr. Dong Hanjie, Ms. Xing Junhua and Ms. Gao Chunlian from Zhuzhou City. They were detained for more than six months. The guards tortured and force-fed them. They were injected with unknown drugs and then sentenced to forced labor and brainwashing. Mr. Dong was taken to Tangshan Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Xing and Ms. Gao were taken to Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp.

On April 15, three practitioners were arrested when distributing truth-clarification materials.

On April 16, 2008, practitioner Ms. Wang Suzhai, in her 30s, from Shiyangwang Village in Quanzhai Township, Xipin County, Zhumadian City, was arrested. Police ransacked her home and confiscated truth-clarification materials, computers, and printers.

At around 12:30 p.m. on April 29, police arrested practitioner Ms. Fu Fulin from Jijia Township, Leizhou City at her home. She is currently detained in Zhanjiang "Legal School," a euphemism for "brainwashing center."

On April 25, Ms. Liu Xinyuan, 58 years old and retired from Xiangtan City Umbrella Company, was arrested and taken to a brainwashing session in Wujia Garden.

On April 24, police from Heifengkou Police Station arrested practitioner Ms. Zhang Guangjie, about 45 years old, an employee of the Jinmen Petroleum Refinement Company, when she responded to their request to pick up her identification card.

At the end of April 2008, National Security guards from the Naxi District arrested Mr. Wang Guocai from Luzhou City. He is detained in the Luzhou Detention Center.

On the afternoon of April 16, Ms. Bu Minggao, from Xiadajiangzu in Jiaoyuan Village, Datang Township, Guidong County, Binzhou City, was arrested. Police ransacked her home and confiscated more than 1,000 yuan, seven or eight fax machines, and Falun Dafa books and materials.

During the night of April 26, more than 20 policemen led by Yang Weiliang, captain of the National Security Team of Huicheng District Police Department, broke into and ransacked the home of Mr. Li Xiaoqiang and Li Xiaomin. They arrested the practitioners and confiscated two computers, a printer, four cable TV receivers, a motorcycle, an electric bicycle, Falun Dafa books, truth-clarifying CDs, and other materials.

Practitioners Ms. Little Wu and Ms. Big Sun were arrested on April 24. Their current situations are unknown.

At around noon on April 30, 2008, practitioner Ms. Gao Yumei was arrested by 610 Office staff while taking care of her husband in a Contagious Disease Hospital.

At around 2 p.m. on April 28, police from Qiqiao Township Police Station in Botou City arrested Ms. Zhang Guihai and took her to Botou Detention Center.

On April 26, police from the Liuzhuang Police Station arrested practitioner Ms. Yang Rongjun from Botou City. She is currently detained in the Botou Detention Center.

On April 14, practitioners Ms. Sheng Cuilian, Ms. Wang Yanfeng, and Ms. Ai Deying from Jieguan Township in Anlu City went to distribute truth-clarifying materials in Chenxiang Township, Guangshui City. Police from the Chenxiang Township Police Station arrested and detained them in the No. 1 Detention Center of Guangshui City.

At the end of April 2008, officers of the National Security Team of Aiming District, Mudanjiang City arrested 15 to 16 local practitioners. They tortured the practitioners in many different ways, including the Tiger Bench method. They also beat them with electric batons. Each practitioner was fined 500 yuan and then released.

On the night of April 17, the local National Security Guards arrested Qingdao practitioner Mr. Wei Bensheng when he was distributing truth-clarifying CDs during a business trip to Jiangdu City, Jiangsu Province. Mr. Wei is currently detained at Jiangdu City Detention Center.

Mr. Wei had previously been sentenced to three years of forced labor and lost his job because of the persecution.

On the afternoon of April 22, police from the Liuhua Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Sulan and her son, who live in the Linhe District in Jinzhou City, when they were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Zhang and her son are being detained in the No. 2 Detention Center in Jinzhou City.

On the night of April 28, police from the Panjin Police Department and Xinlongtai Police Department broke into the home of Mr. Wang Kaiming, a practitioner from the Gaosheng Petroleum Company in Liaohe Petroleum Farm in Panjin, and arrested him. They confiscated his computers and other personal items. Mr. Wang is currently in a detention center in the police station of the Liaohe Petroleum Farm.

From around 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 28, police from the Ganjinzi District Xinzaizi Police Station arrested practitioners Ms. Han Junjiu, 54, and Ms. Wang Shuhua, in her 40s, from the Ganjinzi District, Dalian, for distributing copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. On April 30, they were taken to a detention center.

On April 25, police from Juzijin, Rangzi Township arrested practitioner Ms. Liu Tinghua, 58.

On September 19, 2007, police arrested practitioners Mr. Tian Guomin, Ms. Gu Yufen, and Ms. Lin Zhehua from the Management Department of Hongxinrong Ranch in Heilongjiang Province. Mr. Tian escaped. Plainclothes police officers followed and arrested him at his sister's home in Fuli Village. Practitioners including Tian Guomin and others were transferred to Youyi County Detention Center.

On April 29, police from the Zhongnan Street Police Station arrested Ms. Liu Xiaohong from the Zhongshan District in Dalian when she was clarifying the truth on Zhongnan Street.

At around 10 a.m. on April 28, more than 20 policemen from the Fengrun District Police Department and Liujiayin Township Police Station arrested practitioner Mr. Jia Yuanfeng from Beijia Village, Fengrun District, Tangshan City. Police ransacked his home and confiscated computers, DVD players, copy machine(s), and other items, worth about 10,000 yuan. Mr. Jia's current situation is unknown.

At around 11 p.m. on April 27, police from the No. 8511 Branch of Mishan City jumped the fence, and broke into the homes of practitioners Ms. Zhang Chengyu, Mr. Li Fa, and Mr. Yang Dianjun. They ransacked the homes and arrested Ms. Zhang Chengyu, Mr. Liu Rihao, Mr. Yang Dianjun, and Ms. Ba Fenglian. The four practitioners were transferred to the detention center in the Moudanjiang Management Department.

(1) Amulets -- In China, practitioners sometimes clarify the truth by giving people something small to wear or cherish, bearing a few words reminding them of the goodness of Falun Dafa.
