Details of the Persecution Mr. Li Wenmou, 72, from Tonghua City, Jilin Province
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Wenmou, 72 and a Falun Gong practitioner, is
from Tonghua City. In late July or early August 1999, six officers from the
Railroad Police Division, led by division head Hong Daoye, arrived at Li
Wenmou's residence and ransacked it. They took Falun Dafa books, a sword, and
other personal belongings. A few days later, more than 20 people harassed Mr. Li and attempted to coerce
him to give up his practice of Falun Gong. The people who harassed him included
Mechanical Section Party Secretary Xu Jingfu and Railroad Bureau Party Secretary
Zhang Rong. Mr. Li refused to cooperate. While Mr. Li was taking a walk, the
police arrested him and took him to the Dongchang Districit Police Department.
Deputy Chief Zou Mingji from the Laozhan Police Station sent him to Changliu
Detention Center in Tonghua City, where he was illegally detained
for 15 days. Prior to October 1, 1999, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel
were determined to prevent Falun Gong practitioners from going to Beijing to
appeal. They compelled Li Wenmou to report to Changliu Detention Center daily
for six days, to be detained for two hours each day. In July 2000, Mr. Li went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong and
was arrested by Tiananmen Square police. He was released at 8:00 p.m. Once at
home, local police arrested him and had him sentenced to one and a half years of
forced labor. On September 2-3, 2000, he was taken to Tonghua Forced Labor Camp,
where all the practitioners, regardless of age, were physically assaulted and
shocked with electric batons. Guard Sun Jianfu urged criminal inmate Zhan
Wandong to slap the practitioners with the bottoms of his shoes. He also told
the criminals that, if they beat practitioners, they would get credits and
reductions in their sentences. Li Wenmou was made to do hard labor every day and
forced to watch slanderous videos and undergo compulsory brainwashing. At 10:00 p.m. on October 28, 2002, the residential street committee
supervisor, Dong, female, led Deputy Police Chief Cao and policeman Zhang to
once again ransack Mr. Li's house. (Dong has since died.) Prior to the 2003
Chinese New Year, Mr. Li was taken to Caoyangou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun
for one and a half years. While at this camp, practitioners who refused to write the "five
statements" (similar to the three statements), promising to
stop practicing, were beaten and shocked with electric batons. They were also
made to sit on small stools for long periods of time and made to work from early
morning to late at night, often until 11:00 p.m. Li Wenmou was incarcerated in
the No. 4 Division. One practitioner from Baishan City refused to write the
guarantee statement. As a result, five guards beat him. They also
used two electric batons to shock him simultaneously and used a belt to whip
him, continuing for more than an hour. The practitioner was covered with
injuries upon returning to his cell. Guard Zou from the No. 4 Division
threatened that, unless he reformed, "We will send you to the No. 2
Division and torture you even more severely." Because Mr. Li Wenmou refused to give up his belief, his term was unlawfully
extended by two and a half months. May 10, 2008
