Today's report relates persecution incidents that took place in 31 cities or counties in 14 provinces. Twenty-five Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during detention, and at least 53 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Wang Dongmei, in her 40s, used to be employed at the Hengshui City Clothes Factory but was fired because of her Falun Gong practice. Police arrested her and ransacked her home on May 1, 2008.

Personnel from the Yitong County Police Department's Domestic Security Division arrested three practitioners and ransacked their homes on the night of April 23, 2008. Those arrested were Ms. Wang Jinbo, Ms. Zhao Fenglan and Ms. Fan Zhongli. The police later colluded with personnel from the Xijie Street Police Station and ransacked three practitioners' homes in Menjiatun Village.

Personnel from the Guilin City Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Wang Xianglin from his job at Guilin Normal University and ransacked his home on April 30, 2008. Mr. Wang is presently being held in the Guilin City No. 3 Detention Center.

Officer Zhao Mingzhe from the Chaishi Police Station and personnel from the Huayuan Community Residential Office arrested Mr. Jia Changmin and ransacked his home on April 11, 2008. Mr. Jia is presently being held in the Mudanjiang City No. 2 Detention Center.

Officials from the Shandong Province 610 Office held a meeting in Zhaoyuan City on March 20, 2008. They plotted to persecute practitioners in Haiyang City, Laizhou City, and Qixia City. Six practitioners have been arrested so far.

Ms. Luan Cuilian, Ms. Leng Shuling and Ms. Yuan Yigong from Zhaoyuan City, Ms. Wang Xueju from Laizhou City, and Ms. Lin Cai'e from Qixia City have also been arrested.

Ningxiang County Domestic Security Division Chief Liu arrested practitioner Ms. Jiang Ruihua from New Teacher's Village in the county and confiscated a computer. Ms. Jiang does not dare return home and lives away from home in order to avoid arrest.

Personnel from the Songyuan City Domestic Security Division colluded with those from the Jilatu Township Police Station in Qianguo County. They went to Mr. Wu Lianguang's workplace, the Hongqi Farm No. 1 Box Factory in Qianguo County and attempted to arrest him, but he escaped. They now monitor his wife and mother-in-law. Mr. Wu lives away from home now.

Ms. Zhang Xiuling from Wucheng County is nearly 50 years old. She chose to live away from home since 2001 to avoid unconstitutional arrest.

Police arrested Ms. Zhang on the afternoon of April 18, 2008, and put her in the Wucheng County Detention Center.

Ms. Han Lanjun and Ms. Yin Linger are from Dakanxia Village, Bailong Township, Mancheng County, Baoding City. Personnel from the Yihe Township Police Station arrested them on April 23, 2008, when they distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in a village in Yihe Township. They are being held in the Xushui Detention Center.

Those practitioners who were arrested on February 25, 2008, are facing prison sentences or forced labor sentences. Some of them are in poor health.

Mr. Yuan Guangli and Ms. Chen Yuqiong, who were arrested in Yibin City, have been released. Personnel from the city's 610 Office still harass Ms. Chen and are planning further persecution.

Ms. Lu Daxin and her sister were arrested at her sister's home on April 22, 2008.

Three practitioners were arrested in the Ouya Technology Center in Changchun City on the afternoon of April 23, 2008.

Police arrested Ms. Zang and another female practitioner from the Technology Center in Changjiang Street on the morning of April 24, 2008.

Ms. Bi Wei lives in Apartment No. 11-3 in Wenmiao Wei, Yamen Lane, Fuzhoucheng Town, Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province. A waitress from the Beijing Hongrun Business Restaurant reported her to police when she was touring Beijing and she was subsequently arrested. Later on, personnel from the Dalian City 610 Office fetched Ms. Bi back to Dalian City.

Personnel from the Lutai Police Station arrested Mr. Liu Bin and his wife and Mr. Guo Hui and his wife from Lutai Town, Huaiyang County, in April 2008. They are being held in the county detention center.

Several officers from the Linghai City Police Department and the Jincheng Police Department broke into Ms. Ren Guixia's home at 5:00 a.m. on February 25, 2008. They arrested Ms. Ren and her husband, Mr. Zhang Guoxin, and then ransacked the place. The couple was put in the Linghai City Detention Center.

Mr. Zhang was sentenced to two years of forced labor on March 12, 2008, and is being held in the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp. Linghai City Court agents sentenced Ms. Ren on April 10, 2008. Ms. Ren defended herself, and eventually the court agents did not reach a verdict. The police transferred her from the Linghai City Detention Center to the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

Ms. Zhu Yulian, born in 1947, lives in Hanshan Village, Lianhua County, Jiangxi Province. She went to Shengfang Primary School to explain the facts about Falun Gong on October 16, 2007, but personnel from the Shengfang Police Station arrested her. Ms. Zhu was sentenced to four years in prison in April 2008. She had previously been sentenced to three years of forced labor.

Ms. Zhang Yuzhi from the 290 Farm in Suibin County was arrested on April 2, 2008. Police now plan to submit her case to a procuratorate department.

Policeman Gao Tiejun and others from the Shuangliao City Power Plant's Police Section arrested 35-year-old practitioner Ms. Wang Zhiwu on the night of April 24, 2008. They put her in a detention center.

Personnel from the city's Domestic Security Division arrested 41-year-old practitioner Ms. Yuan Shujun on April 25, 2008. They confiscated a CD player and an MP4 and held her for 15 days.

Practitioner Mr. Jiang Yuting and his wife, Ms. Liu Baoqin, were arrested on April 23, 2008. His non-practitioner brother and sister-in-law were also arrested. They are being held in the Shanyou Detention Center.

Personnel from the Zhicheng Town Police Station arrested practitioners Ms. Qi Ye, Ms. Zhang Xiaoniu, and Ms. Nie Baozhi from Zhicheng Town, Jiyuan City, on April 17, 2008. Their whereabouts are unknown.

Personnel from the Qiqiao Town Police Station confiscated Mr. Zhang Guihai's Falun Gong books. Mr. Zhang's request to have the books returned was unsuccessful. The police called him and ordered him to come to the police station at 2:00 p.m. on April 28, 2008. When he arrived, they placed him immediately in the Botou City Detention Center.

Personnel from the Liuzhuang Police Station in Botou City arrested practitioner Ms. Yang Rongjun and put her in the city detention center.

Personnel from the Changji City Police Department's Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Cao Mingrui in the summer of 2007. They found some Falun Gong truth-clarifying CDs in his home. In order to find the source of the CDs, the police tortured him on the Death Bed for a week.

Changji City Procuratorate Department agents sued Mr. Cao in March 2008. He was later sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Cao has appealed to the Changji State Court.

Practitioner Ms. Wu Yuye was arrested near the Yishui County Detention Center's Residential Community on the night of September 16, 2005. Policemen including Song Wei and Li Yuyou ransacked Ms. Wu's home and held her for a month The police extorted 3,600 yuan from her.

Policemen Song Wei and Li Yuyou put Ms. Wu in the Jinan City Forced Labor Camp on November 17, 2005. She was held there for almost ten months.

Several practitioners from Baiguo Town, Pan County were sentenced to prison. Mr. Pu Enfu and Mr. Wang Yunlong were sentenced to five years; Mr. Chen Mingsai to four years; and Ms. Zhang Shifen and Mr. Liao Qiangzhi to three years. Mr. Tan Guangwan and Ms. Chen Yumei were sentenced to two years of forced labor; Mr. He Fang to three years; and Ms. Xiao Yunhui to two and a half years.

Yunyan District Court agents in Guiyang City sentenced Mr. Xu Qihua in the city's Police Hospital on April 10, 2008. Ms. Chen Yumei is Mr. Xu's wife and Mr. Tan Guangwan is Mr. Xu's brother-in-law.

Three officers from the Heishansi Township Police Station in Zhuolu County, Zhangjiakou City, ransacked two practitioners' homes in Heishansi Village on April 21, 2008. They confiscated two sets of Falun Gong lecture CDs, and a Dafa book. They also looted 9,000 yuan. Fortunately the practitioner's family had their money returned.

Ms. Shen Hongpei was taken to the Qingpu Brainwashing Center at 9:00 a.m. on April 28, 2008.

Personnel from the Jiading District Police Department and from the 610 Office arrested Ms. Shen Hongpei and her sister, Ms. Shen Honglei, at 4:00 a.m. on October 11, 2007. About a dozen police officers broke into their homes in Meiyuanxin Village, the Jiading District, Shanghai, and arrested them. Ms. Shen Hongpei was taken to a detention center and released on November 7, 2007. Ms. Shen Honglei was taken to a detention center on October 13, 2007, but her current circumstances are unknown.

Seven officers from the 8511 Farm's Police Department in Mishan City broke into the homes of Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhang Chengyu, Mr. Li Fa, and Mr. Yang Dianjun at 11:00 p.m. on April 27, 2008. They arrested Ms. Zhang and her husband, Mr. Liu Rihao, and also Mr. Yang Dianjun and Ms. Ba Fenglian. The police later put the four in the Nongken Police Department's Detention Center.
