(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 45 cities or counties in 15 provinces. In this report, 17 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least 70 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Zhou Nig was arrested on September 12, 2007, and "illegally detained" at the Jining City Detention Center. Ms. Zhou was tortured, resulting in injury to her spine. On May 4, 2008, she was taken to Jining City Affiliated Hospital for emergency treatment. She is currently in critical condition.

Mr. Liu Xitong was put on trial at Licang District Court at 2:00 p.m. on May 13.

Binzhou City No. 4 Middle School Teacher Mr. Qiao Baoyang is detained in Room No. 504 at the Binzhou City Jiangong Hotel. He is being mistreated.

When Ms. Wang Wenqi and Mr. Song Shufu from Dongji Village in Rushan City were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong on May 6, they were reported and subsequently arrested. Their whereabouts are unknown.

On May 5, police officers arrested Ms. Jia, around 50 years of age, from Pingdu City. On the following day, the police went to Ms. Jia's warehouse and confiscated a machine worth 40,000 yuan, along with DVDs and other items.

At about 10:00 p.m. on May 4, police officers from Pingdu City and from Dianzi Town arrested Mr. Wang Mingliang.

In late March 2008, police from the Yingli Town Police Station in Shouguang City arrested practitioners Ms. Wu Yuling, her daughter, and cousin Ms. Hao Yun from Beichahe Village. They released Ms. Wu after extorting money from her. Her daughter and cousin were taken to a forced labor camp.

On April 30, 2008, police officers from Yangkou Township arrested Ms. Li Xiue. She was taken to Shouguang City's detention center.

In early May, Ms. Wang, in her 60s, from Chahe Village, was reported to and arrested by police from Yingli Town.

In late-October 2007, police officer Liu Baowen from the Changle Domestic Security Brigade 610 Office arrested practitioner Mr. Lu Fan from Tangwu Town, Changle County. He has been detained in Changle Forced Labor Camp for six months. In March 2008, he was sentenced to a four-year prison term, and taken to Weifang City Weibei Prison in April.

On March 2, police from the Zhuliu Town Police Station arrested Ms. Ding Wei. Her home was ransacked and she was detained at the County Detention Center. On April 11, personnel from the Domestic Security Brigade took her to the Wangcun Provincial Women's No. 2 Forced Labor Camp. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

On December 3, 2007, Ms. Dong Wenxiu (who is retired from the Changle County Cultural Building), Mr. Mao Ruizeng (a farmer from Xiajiazhuang Village of Raogou Town), and Mr. Xu Qingrui (a farmer from Yuanjiazhuang Village of Wutu Town) were arrested by agents from the Changle County 610 Office and the State Security Section. They were sentenced to one year of forced labor in Wangcun Women's Second Forced Labor Camp and Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

On April 2, 2008, a group of police officers from the Dongyi Police Station in Changyi City broke into Ms. Xia Guirong's home. They confiscated Falun Dafa books and arrested Ms. Xia. She is being held at a detention center.

In mid-April, when Mr. Zhang Lin was distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong, officers from the Wenhuadong Road Police Station arrested him. He was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

At 10:00 a.m. on May 7, Mr. Gao Yongjun, a non-practitioner, clarified the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong at his work place, the Tangshan Zunhua City Iron Factory, after which someone reported him to the police. Officers from the Tiechang Township Police Station in Zuihua City Tangshan ransacked his home and arrested him. They also arrested his wife, Ms. Wang Ning, who is a practitioner. His son's computer and Teacher's portrait were confiscated. She was detained at the Zunhua Domestic Security Brigade.

On May 7, police from the Huoshiying Township and personnel from the Fengrun Township 610 Office arrested Ms. Jin Shuxia from Raojiatou Village of Fengrun Township, Fengrun District in Tangshan City, when she was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Huoshiying Township of Fengrun District. She was detained in the Fengrun District Detention Center.

In early May 2008, Ms. Wang Fengping, Ms. Wang Jinai and Ms. Wanlan from She County were imprisoned at the She County Detention Center.

On April 2, police officers from Laishui County Police Bureau and Yian County arrested Mr. Li Huai. He was detained at the Laishui County Detention Center. Mr. Li was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

At 8:30 p.m. on May 7, 2008, personnel from the Hefei 610 Office arrested Ms. Zhang Lanping from Hefei City. Her whereabouts is unknown.

In 1999, Ms. Zhang went to Beijing to appeal to the government for justice for Falun Gong. Personnel from the Hefei 610 Office arrested and detained her. In 2000, for clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong, she was sentenced to a year of forced labor. In 2003, police arrested her husband ,Mr. Ji Guangjie, when he was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was sentenced to a seven-year prison term and detained at Anhui Suzhou No. 3 Prison.

On April 24, 2008, officers from Nanyang City and the 610 Office arrested Mr. Wang Shuping, who is in his 30s. He was an outstanding teacher at the Nanyang No. 1 Vocational School. His computer and printer were confiscated.

Police from the Balinzuoqi Police Station arrested Mr. Chen Yanping who is in his 30s. He was sentenced to a two-year prison term and dismissed by his company.

At about 11:00 a.m. on May 7, 2007, Li Xing from the Balinzuoqi Domestic Security Brigade arrested Mr. Chen at home. His computer, hard drive, MP3 player, and other personal items were confiscated. He is being detained at Balinzuoqi Detention Center. Mr. Chen's brother-in-law, a non-practitioner, was arrested at the same time.

On May 4, a group of police officers from Liuzhentun Village in Huaiyang County broke into Mr. Li Junqi's home. They arrested Mr. Li and his father. His mother attempted to reason with the police officers. They attacked and pushed her to the ground. The father and son were taken to the county detention center.

At 8:00 p.m. on May 7, police officers from the Shuishang Police Sub-Bureau in Jiujiang County broke into Ms. Gui Muhua's home. They, where they arrested Mr.L, Mr. Wang Shifan, Mr. Huang Jiafa, Mr. Zhong Xianghui, and, Ms. Wang Yuelan because they were studying the Falun Gong books. Nobody knows where they.

Practitioner Ms. Du Bing will be tried at 8:00 a.m. on May 20 in the Wanbolin District Court.

Principal Zhang Xiangdong and teachers reported practitioner Ms. Lai Xiaomei, from the Guangya Primary School in Dayawan District in Huizhou City when she was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. On the evening of April 28, 2008, officers from the 610 Office arrested Ms. Dong Lanlan and her husband, Mr. Zhang, who holds a PhD. Ms. Dong Lanlan and Mr. Zhang had been arrested before and Mr. Zhang had previously been sentenced to forced labor.

Ms. Zhang Tieliu from Shanwei City was arrested and detained at the Sanshui Brainwashing Center on April 27.

Husband and wife Mr. Ye Xiaowei and Ms. Wang Aizhu own a business in Weihao Fashion City of Haifeng County in Shanwei City. On May 6, 2008, personnel from the 610 Office arrested Mr. Ye. He was taken to a Sanshui Brainwashing Center. His wife, Ms. Wang Aizhu, escaped.

Mr. Mou Qiming, 65, is a senior teacher at the No. 18 Middle School. On May 3, 2008, police officers, with Liang Shibing from Jiangbei District Police Bureau in charge, arrested him. He is being detained at a brainwashing center near Longtou Temple in Chongqing City.

On the morning of May 8, 2008, police arrested practitioner Ms. Meng Guizhen, who is 65 years old.

On April 26, 2008, Daishi police arrested practitioner Mr. Zeng Xiancai from Daishi Township in Guang'an County, when he was selling vegetables at a supermarket in Daishi Town. His whereabouts is unknown.

On the afternoon of April 27, 2008, police officers from Xishan District Domestic Security Brigade arrested Ms. Cai Nianru from Kunming City when she was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong at Luosi Bay. She is 'illegally detained" at the Xishan District Domestic Security Brigade, and family visits are denied.

Officers from the Hunan Road Police Station, on orders from the Shanghai City Xuhui Police Sub-Bureau, arrested Ms. Yu Xiaoyan from Dalian City, a PhD candidate at Fudan University, for telling the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is detained at the Xuhui District Detention Center.

At 8:00 p.m. on May 5, officers from the Pingdu Domestic Security Brigade used a satellite positioning system to locate practitioners Mr. Liu and Ms. Dai's home, because they were browsing certain sites on the Internet. Police from Qingdao Police Bureau and Pingdu Domestic Security Brigade and about 100 police officers broke into their home and confiscated their computers and bank deposit books. Both practitioners were arrested. A 10-year old boy is now at home alone with no one to look after him.

On May 7, 2008, Ma Pingan and Hantai District, Hanzhong City, officials broke into the residence of practitioners Ms. Xiao Yanping, Ms. Wu Yali, Mr. Zhang Hanyun,and Ms. Li Qingmeng from Hantai District in Hanzhong City and arrested them. They also ransacked the residence.

On May 7, 2008, Ms. Ru from Quyang went to Chengguan Police Station to clarify the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was arrested at the police station and taken to the county detention center.

On the evening of May 2, Mr. Li Yuping's home at the Fukang Pharmaceutical Factory compound was ransacked and he was arrested. The next morning, Li's wife Ms. Liang visited Ms. Meng. Police from Shouguang City arrested both at Ms. Meng's home.

On the evening of April 28, police from the Yangkou Police Sub-Station arrested Mr. Guo Guanghui and Ms. Li Xiue from Shuoguang City and ransacked Ms. Li's home. They confiscated her computer and Falun Dafa books.

On April 22, 2008, the police arrested Ms. Yuan Qing from Daqing City. She is detained at the Daqing City No. 1 Detention Center. Her case was transferred to the Longfeng Procuratorate. They attempted to sentence Ms. Yuan.

A few police officers from the No. 1 Section of the Wuhan City Police Station broke into practitioner Ms. Hu Huifang's home in the Qingshan District and arrested her at 10:00 a.m. on May 7, 2008. She is detained at the Wuchang City Yangyuan Brainwashing Center.

In May 2008, practitioner Ms. Wang Jishan, who works at a daycare center in Changyi City, was arrested.

On April 27, Ms. Chang Yushu and Ms. Cui Xiuzhen were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong when both were arrested. They are still being held in the county detention center.

On or about April 30, 2008, Ms. Wang Kenhua from Qi County in Chibi City was arrested after an identification check at Hebi Railway Station. They found truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong in her bag. The materials were confiscated. Police ransacked her home. Ms. Wang is detained at the Qi County Detention Center.

On around May 1, 2008, Li Guoming, head of the Qiqiao Township Police Station, arrested practitioner Mr. Zhang Guihai from Dayanwu Village in Qiqiao Township of Botou City. He is detained at the Botou City Nanzhuangduan Police Station.

On May 6, police officers from the Sanshui Township and personnel from the local community management committee arrested practitioner Mr. Zhang Deping from Sanshui Township at her home.

On April 28, personnel from the Linying County 610 Office and the Domestic Security Brigade arrested practitioner Mr. Gong Haikuan, who was working in the Linying County Court building. Mr. Gong is detained at the Linying County Detention Center.

On April 14, 2008, Ms. Lu Chaoixia, a kindergarten teacher at the No. 4 Mine of the Datong Mining Bureau, was arrested. When she went to the Datong City Mining Bureau Yunquan Sub-Bureau on the morning of May 6 to demand her sister's release, she was arrested again.

On May 6, 2008, police officers from the Mei County Police Bureau, Chengjiang Police Station, and Mei County Domestic Security Brigade went to Mr. Zhu Xianshen's home in the Mei County Overseas Chinese City. They broke the lock and front door and ransacked his home. They confiscated three computers, Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials, a satellite dish, and 6,000 "yuan." They also arrested Mr. Zhu.

In December 2005, Mr. Zhu was arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labor because he delivered truth clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. On arrival at Sanshui Forced Labor Camp he was diagnosed with diabetes, so he was released for medical reasons.

On April 14, 2008, practitioner Ms. Zhou Meihua from Chenghezi District was arrested at the school where she taught.

Around May 5, police officers from the Anti-Violence Team in Yian County and Fuyu Farm in Heilongjiang Province broke into practitioner's homes. They located some Falun Dafa books and materials and arrested Zhang Deren, Ms. Zhang Shuqin, Mr. Li Jinghao, and Ms. Zhang Xinglan and her husband.

On the evening of May 6, police officers arrested four practitioners and detained them at the Longshan County Detention Center in Heilongjiang Province.

On May 7, Mr. Liu Kaitong, a practitioner from Longsheng Village in Edao Bay of Fuyu County who had become homeless because of the persecution of Falun Gong, was arrested and taken to the Fuyu Farming Police Bureau, where he was beaten. His home was ransacked, and the lawless people confiscated his motorcycle, Dafa books, and materials.

At 10:00 a.m. on May 8, 2008, Sun Libin, head of Xinkai Township Police Bureau in Dawa County of Panjin City, and a contingent of police officers broke into Ms. Jia Fenglin's home. They arrested Mr. Jia and Ms. Li Guiqin and ransacked their homes.

On April 24, 2008, Yao Jiandong, who is head of the Liaoyuan City Xiangyang Police Sub-Bureau, along with a contingent of police officers, arrested practitioner Ms. Wang Shufen from Liming Village in Longshan District. At the police station, officers tied Ms. Wang to an iron chair, put a metal hat on her, beat her with a club, shocked her with electric batons, and detained her for 15 days. On May 9, Ms. Wang was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Police officers led by Sun Jiku from the Tianhe Police Station arrested practitioners Ms. Cao Zhiwen and Ms. Zhang Yue at Ms. Tai Lijun's home at 8:00 a.m. on April 29, 2008. The police climbed a wall to break into the home. Ms. Zhang is now in the Shulan City Nanshan Detention Center. Ms. Tai escaped.

On April 23, 2008, practitioner Mr. Qu Gui, a doctor at the Mingcheng Township Hospital in Panshi City, was arrested. He was illegally sentenced to 16 months of forced labor. He is still in the Panshi City Detention Center.

At 8:00 p.m. on May 6, Ms. Wu Yuzhen from the No. 4 Factory in the Daqing Oil Extraction Factory was arrested. Police officers from the Hongguang Police Sub-Bureau in Daqing City ransacked her home. They confiscated two laptop computers, a TV, a recording machine, a satellite dish, Falun Dafa books, and other personal items. Ms. Wu is being held in Daqing Detention Center.
