By a practitioner in Hubei Province

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in a village of Hubei Province. After I had practiced for several months, the persecution instigated by Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan started. I am here today due to Teacher's merciful and great protection. I believe in Teacher and Dafa and I had a relatively good foundation learning Dafa in the early days. I read fellow practitioners' sharing in "Minghui Weekly." The articles are very well written and the practitioners study the Fa well, so they also do very well. Many times I have wanted to write about my experiences learning Dafa to encourage fellow practitioners.

Wherever I go, whether I am at work or elsewhere, I clarify the truth. I take Falun Dafa truth-clarification materials with me, and as a practitioner I bring the beauty of Falun Dafa. Many of my neighbors know I practice Falun Dafa and know I am a good person. Sometimes my human notions come out in the process of cultivation. I have found that the process of sharing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party is also a process of abandoning fear and self.

I was once hired to do renovation work at a professor's home. We chatted about the Cultural Revolution, the June 4 Massacre, and the corruption of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I realized that this person, who was a Party member, was quite righteous and detested the evil CCP. He said, "I have not paid the Party membership fee for three years." I originally planned to give him a copy of the Nine Commentaries after I finished the work, thinking it would be safer, but when his son and daughter-in-law, both university students, returned home during the renovation, I thought it was a precious opportunity. It would be great if they all read the Nine Commentaries, understood the truth, and were saved. I decided to let go of myself, eliminate my fear, and give the professor the Nine Commentaries early, but I was still afraid for my safety. What should I do? Is considering myself or saving people more important? Teacher said,

"Dafa disciples are now sentient beings' only, sole hope for salvation." ("Righteous Thoughts")

I knew I should act according to Teacher's guidance for it is important to save people. On the second day, I handed the Nine Commentaries to the professor. Three people in the professor's family read them and now have good understandings.

Another time I explained the truth to an older woman. After several minutes she understood the truth and thanked me repeatedly. I often meet people like this. Teacher requires practitioners to explain the truth clearly to everyone they meet in life. Once I went to visit the parents of my daughter-in-law, and I had some truth-clarification pamphlets and flyers with me. I went up to three people I met on the way and told them that they were predestined to receive Dafa truth-clarification materials. I encouraged them to read them in their spare time and I told them that they would have good fortune and a glorious futures after they understood the truth. The first person just took it but the third person said he wanted it.

I also advocated the disintegration of the Party and quitting the CCP. I approached many people, including Party members, Youth League members and Young Pioneers. Some easily understood, but others had a more difficult time understanding. There was a veteran Party member in our village and even after I clarified the truth to him three times, he did not quit. When I went to his home for the fourth time, he quit. As long as you have sentient beings in your heart, with righteous thoughts your words will usually encourage a Party member to quit.

My introduction to Falun Dafa began in late September 1998, when I fell asleep at the dinner table after lunch and was quite uncomfortable after I woke up. This situation lasted for several days. It felt like the typhoid I had before, and I knew that if it continued I would not be able to do the winter sowing, so I had to see the doctor in town. When I arrived at the town clinic in the afternoon, the doctor was not there so I had to wait. After a long time the doctor still had not arrived so I had to go to another clinic. When I left the clinic I saw 30 to 40 people sitting in meditation with a banner that read: "Falun Dafa Cultivates Mind and Body." One of them was a former classmate, so I asked him how long he had been practicing. He said he had practiced for two and a half years. I was very surprised. I exclaimed, "You have practiced for two and a half years!? How is it that I didn't know?" He replied that I should read the book Zhuan Falun. So I rode my bike happily home and brought with me a copy of Zhuan Falun. October is the busy farming season, so I took the book to the field and read whenever I had a break. I also read under the covers at night by flashlight. I finished my first reading of Zhuan Falun in a month, and my illness disappeared. I simply knew that Falun Gong was good. In November, I rode my bike for eight miles at three o'clock every morning to join the exercise group at the practice site in town. I then entered the path of Falun Dafa cultivation.

Since July 20, 1999, Falun Gong has suffered brutal persecution by the political scoundrels Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan, and the Party. People are checked when they enter and depart train stations, and many practitioners have been arrested and persecuted as a result. When I went home for Chinese New Year at the end of 2000, I was checked. The police ordered me to open my bag. Inside was a bag of Dafa books and truth-clarification materials in a black plastic bag. The police asked me what was in the bag and I told them it was books. The police asked me what kind of books, and I answered, calmly and righteously, "The books I read." I thought, "I practice Falun Dafa, I am a good person and I act according to the Fa," therefore I had no fear. The police did not open the bag and moved on to search others. The everyday people who were returning home with me were very worried for me and their hearts nearly jumped out of their chests.

On June 20, 2002, I went to Tiananmen Square to unfurl a banner reading "Falun Dafa Is Good." I turned in a complete circle from left to right and shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is the righteous law! Restore Falun Dafa's good reputation, restore my Teacher's good reputation!" As soon as I finished shouting, four policemen came at me from all directions, grabbed the banner, and seized me. They sent me back to my county, where I was sentenced to one year of forced labor and had 2000 yuan extorted from me. In prison, I acted and spoke according to Dafa's requirements. I treated the police and prisoners kindly. I explained to them that Falun Dafa is a righteous law and that we try to be good people according to "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." I explained that Jiang was jealous and that he was using his power and propaganda to fabricate rumors and discredit Falun Gong. In the beginning the police did not listen to me. They even instigated prisoners to watch me, beat me, and deprive me of sleep, among other evil actions. They saw that despite the mistreatment, I did not lie, my words matched my actions, and I was considerate of others, so they gradually changed. The other prisoners no longer treated me so violently. I explained to Wang Sheng, a teenage murderer, the truth about Falun Gong, that our Teacher teaches us to be good people, and that good and evil receive retribution many times over. He regretted his wrongdoing after I told him all this. He said to me, "Uncle, it would have been so good if I had met you earlier, as I would not be imprisoned now. After I get out of prison, I also want to practice Falun Gong."

During my year in the forced labor camp, I let most of the prisoners know that Falun Dafa was good. The prison scheduled surprise searches. During one search an armed guard asked me why I had been sentenced. I said it was because I practiced Falun Gong. He asked me repeatedly if Falun Gong was good and I told him yes. He did a simple check and let me go, just like that. I did the exercises for ten months in prison. When I was released, the officer in charge of the cell said, "I hope you do not have to return." In fact, through our truth clarification, some officers with a conscience have learned that Falun Gong practitioners are good people and they hope we do not suffer any longer. We also sincerely hope those police officers can truly understand the truth and have wonderful futures.

After I returned home from prison, I studied the Fa and looked for copies of Minghui Weekly to read. I found that my basis for validating Dafa was not based on the Fa and was not right. Teacher told us to be great enlightened beings who are selfless and consider others first, however, I had a strong attachment. I feared that I could not reach consummation if I did not validate the Fa. This was a selfish heart. Teacher published the article "Don't Be Sad" in 2004: (in Hong Yin II)

"Your body lies in prison--don't be sorrowful, don't be sad
With righteous thoughts and righteous actions, Fa is here
Calmly reflect on how many attachments you have
As you get rid of human mentality, evil is naturally defeated"

Indeed, I knew we should get rid of the human mentality, abandon attachments, and get up when we fall. Study the Fa more, learn the Fa well, clear all attachments, closely follow Teacher's Fa-rectification progress, and do the three things well.

New and veteran practitioners in China, along with those practitioners who have not let go of fear and stepped forward, must quickly overcome our human attachments Everyone must come out to tell the truth and validate the Fa. As a matter of fact, Falun Dafa is so good, and so righteous, that when fellow practitioners all act according to the Fa, the evil will be afraid! Now that Fa-rectification is nearing its end, we must act according to Teacher's requirement and have firm faith in Teacher and Dafa. Clarify the truth, awaken sentient beings who are deceived by lies, and save more people--then we won't fail in our mission. Fellow practitioners should stand together as one.
