Kindness Is Rewarded

One spring day in 2006 in a village in Huaiyang County, Henan Province, a lady in her 80s saw a bundle of new books with bright yellow covers near the entrance of a local elementary school. "What a pity that those books were lost," she thought, and picked them up.

When she reached the main road, she came across two people collecting trash for recycling. They saw the books and asked to pay for them, but the old lady refused. "You are so old that you can't read the words," they said. "What use are they to you? And besides, those are Falun Gong books. The security officials will arrest you if they see you with them."

This old lady looked at them and said, "I will not sell or give away these books. I will keep them. I am so old, what should I fear? What can those police do to me?" She took the books home, gave one copy to her son, and kept the rest carefully.

Since that day her life has been carefree and safe. She says that one day that summer she was working in the field when she suddenly heard thunder and hurried home. Nearing her home, she saw a fire quickly moving towards her. She was very frightened and hurried to get in the door, but just as she entered, the fire disappeared.

Another time she was walking by the road when a truck approached her at great speed. Being old and slow, she thought that she would surely be killed, but the moment the truck was about to hit her, she felt as if someone pulled her to the side. The truck passed by her like wind, and she escaped unharmed.

"The gods are watching over me!" she began to tell others, after experiencing these two incidents. Later one of her relatives who practices Falun Gong told her that it was a reward for her kindness in saving Dafa books, and that Teacher is watching over her! She nodded her head.

To this day she firmly believes in Dafa and has asked her son to learn Falun Gong. She also gave all of the books to other practitioners.
