Of Computers and Human Brains By Jin Lian
(Clearwisdom.net) Early this morning a friend called me and said his
computer didn't work, and he couldn't access the Internet. He was bursting to do
online stock exchange trading! I felt it strange, because I had been to his home only yesterday, to visit
and install software to break through the Internet blockade. I also installed
books such as Zhuan Falun, Falun Gong and others on
his computer. I taught him how to use the software, and everything operated
smoothly. Why couldn't he suddenly get on the Internet? My friend actually has some predestined relationship with the Buddha Fa. He
did extensive research in his quest to study various kinds of knowledge. As he
got older and close relatives died and he experienced certain profound
realizations relating to life, he still couldn't understand the difficult,
age-old questions, which have puzzled people from ancient times: "What do
we live for?" "What is the meaning of the life?" He began
Buddhist studies about four years ago. His wife had converted to Buddhism. But
we had never really discussed these things before. When I persuaded him to do
the "three withdrawals" [this refers to withdrawing one's membership
from the Communist Party and/or its affiliated organizations - the Communist
Youth League and the Young Pioneers], we spoke about Buddhism and the Buddha
Fa. But he only accepted Buddhist theories instead of Falun Dafa. I
thought that his predestined relationship with Dafa was not yet mature and gave
up holding deep conversations with him. This time I sent him a DVD of the Chinese Spectacular. Afterwards, he
spontaneously discussed the Falun Gong issue with me. We talked thoroughly for a
whole afternoon. I felt that he really made great efforts to study Buddhist
theories - from the history of Buddhism to the result of science research in
modern quantum mechanics, from portrait to landscape orientation, and from
ancient times to now - my friend does not even believe that divine beings
exist in the world and doubts the existence of the six paths of metempsychosis.
As for Buddha paradise, he doesn't believe it at all. It is like Master said
that he is just like the "modernized Buddhist scholars," "who
merely study theories. They regard it as a philosophical category for critical
studies and so-called research." (Zhuan Falun) He
studied so much, yet he actually is an atheist. As for Falun Gong, he did watch
a tape of one of Master's speeches several years ago, but as he limited himself
to Buddhism theory, he was unwilling to accept Falun Dafa. We discussed for a whole afternoon. He accepted some ideas about Falun Gong
that he had not considered before. I explained clearly the issue that Falun Gong
doesn't take part in politics and suggested that he read Zhuan Falun
carefully. Such a fortunate opportunity is rare. What I had said made his mind a bit clearer; and now there was problem with
his computer. He said somewhat regretfully on the phone, "It seems that I
don't have a predestined relation with this Way!" I said, "No, this
just shows that you have a great predestined relationship with Falun Gong. The
road to happiness is full of hardships!" Hanging up the phone I first searched inside. Why did this happen? What
shortcomings do I still have? Showing off? In chatting with him, I fully exhibit
Dafa's profundity, but I indeed had given in to a certain smugness and glee.
Zealotry? When I returned home from installing the software for my friend, I was
very happy that I helped one enter into Dafa and connected with his predestined
relationship. Was I anxious? I was anxious to state my own view and didn't pay
much attention to his thoughts. Did I have the mindset for comfort? I thought I
gave him the software to break through the Internet blockade, and thus he could
study the Fa and cultivate on his own, meaning that I save myself the trouble to
make any effort later on. But I did not consider things from his angle and do
things step by step, and thus couldn't help him accept Dafa better. But no matter the reason, the old forces are not allowed to damage the thing
we are doing! No matter how they had previously made arrangements, I am now
determined to help him get started on his cultivation path, which he has waited
for, for so many lifetimes. I erected my hand and sent righteous thoughts. I saw that the Internet was
blocked in several places, with something just like lumps. In the computer's
dimension was something that looked like it was half man and half beast. I
caught hold of it and disintegrated it. I sent energy to make the Internet
connect and cleared all dimensions. I sent righteous thoughts for more than ten
minutes and felt the dimension clearing up. Then I called my friend and asked
whether the Internet was o.k. He said it still didn't work. Immediately I took a
taxi to his home. I found that he had tools such as a screwdriver and pliers and
was trying to repair the computer. It was almost time for the opening of the
stock market, and he was very anxious. Looking at the present circumstance, it seemed there was no problem. I
clicked on the software. The Internet was at once connected. My friend looked
distraught! "What's the matter? I tried several time since 5 o'clock this
morning and never succeeded. You just arrived and it worked. What did you
do?" I smiled "I did nothing but click it and got connected." "To tell you the truth, at first I wanted to go to your website this
morning to have a look at those [Dafa] books. But I just couldn't get on to the
Internet, no matter how I tried. But you simply arrive, and the Internet
connected. It is really magic!" "What do you think? This time you believe that there is something
miraculous. Many things are difficult to explain. Some people are able to do
something without using their hands and feet while others won't succeed, even
with their hands and feet." I could see that he was disturbed. This researcher of Buddhism, who only
believed what he had seen and never believed that there exist divine beings in
the world, now wants to do some research on "magic." It became obvious in our ensuing conversation that I had not discussed things
with him thoroughly the day before. He still stuck to the theories of Buddhism
and didn't change his atheistic viewpoint. Should he study Zhuan Falun
from this point of view, it would be hard for him to get anything out of it. The
CCP has brainwashed the Chinese people far too much - instilled atheism into
them since they were very young. People's thoughts and souls are in durance. How
many predestined relationships with the Buddha Fa have been damaged and how many
people destroyed! It seemed that it was not the computer that was disconnected
but the human mind that was disconnected. Master is compassionate. This small
miraculous event makes me believe that my friend might become aware of something
yet, and somewhat change his mind. I sincerely wish that he will soon begin Fa
study and enter into cultivation. Recent truth-clarification efforts made me realize that many people are
waiting for the Fa and hope that we will offer them salvation. Along the way,
some friends gradually came to inquire about and got into cultivation. During
the past week I have sent Dafa books and tapes to four friends and could sense
how eagerly they wanted to receive the Fa. Master is turning the law wheel, and everything is becoming new. The
worldwide situation is changing quickly. At this moment we should follow the
steps of Fa-rectification, cultivate ourselves well, let go of our self and any
attachments. We should be more patient, compassionate, and understanding and
consider things from others' points of view. We must not merely feel satisfied
by how many things we have done, or how many people we had talked with. We
should help them really understand the truth completely, and try to lead people
