(Clearwisdom.net) Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners held a rally and parade on May 1, 2008, to oppose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution. They also protested the CCP escalating the persecution of Falun Gong under the pretext of "preparing" for the Olympic Games. It was announced at the rally that over 370,000 signatures have been collected to call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong prior to the Olympics.

This global signature collection campaign was launched by the CIPFG (Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong). The campaign has gained support from overseas Falun Gong practitioners and other groups worldwide. It was reported that the collected signatures include nearly 450 from individuals in the political and legal fields, among them members of parliament and local elected officials, as well as officials from central and local governments. The CIPFG hopes to collect at least one million signatures worldwide prior to July 20, 2008, and then submit the petition to the International Olympic Committee, the United Nations and other international organizations, all governments and parliaments, urging them to take feasible action to assist the Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China in regaining their human rights and freedom.
