Mr. Yu Zhou and Ms. Xu Na's Family Determined to Seek Justice--Calling Attention to the Injustice Suffered by the Couple
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Yu Zhou, a well-known Chinese folk singer and a
Falun Gong practitioner, died six months ago. His death has raised concerns
around the world regarding the severe human rights violations in China. Mr. Yu's wife, Ms. Xu Na, is still illegally imprisoned. Ms. Xu's elderly
parents are seeking justice for their daughter and son-in-law. The Chinese
Communist Party's (CCP) perpetrators found no "evidence" when
ransacking Yu Zhou and Xu Na's home. They found only money bills on which were
written truth-clarifying messages that are circulated widely in
China and cannot be counted as "valid evidence." Ms. Xu's trial has
been put on hold because the regime is afraid of attracting international
attention to her and her deceased husband's circumstances. Following Mr. Yu's torture death, his family demanded an investigation into
the cause of his death. They requested an autopsy, but the Procuratorate
ignored it. The autopsy the Qinghe Emergency Center in Beijing had issued was
"normal death." The family does not agree with the result and is
seeking justice for Yu Zhou. No matter how long it takes, and no matter how
difficult it is, they are determined to pursue to the end. Ms. Xu Na's parents filed a lawsuit with the Procuratorate on June 12, 2008.
They were told they should receive the result by mid July. Mr. Yu Zhou was a well-known Chinese folk singer, and his wife, Ms. Xu Na, is
a renowned painter. During the nine years of persecution of Falun Gong, both Yu
Zhou and Xu Na have been persecuted as well. In July 2001, State Security agents
arrested Ms. Xu Na in the Tongzhou District. She was sentenced to five years in
prison in November 2001. Ms. Xu was detained at the Tuanhe Juvenile Labor Camp
and at the Beijing Women's Prison where she endured numerous tortures and hard
labor. She was beaten many times, sometimes by eight prisoners at once - and
tortured in a "small cell." They forced her to sit in the cross-legged
position with her body tied up, and she was deprived of sleep. At 10:00 p.m. on January 26, 2008, Mr. Yu Zhou was driving home with Ms. Xu
Na after one of his performances when the police stopped their car for an
"Olympics search" in Yangzhuang Village, the Beiyuan area, in the
Tongzhou District of Beijing. When the police found they were Falun Gong
practitioners, they arrested them and took them to the Tongzhou District
Detention Center. At 9:00 a.m. on January 27, 2008, four officers from the Beiyuan Police
Station, the Tongzhou District Police Department, the Xiangshan Police Station,
and from the Haidian District Police Department ransacked Ms. Xu's parents'
home. They did not find anything, and subsequently ransacked Ms. Xu's sister's
home. They stole the printer paper from the desk when they did not find a
computer. On February 6, 2008, one day before the Chinese Near Year, Mr. Yu Zhou
was tortured to death, at the age of 42. The detention center forbade Ms. Xu Na
from attending her husband's funeral. Tongzhou District People's Procuratorate agents and members of the local
police station were afraid Yu Zhou's incident might be exposed to the
international community and they suspected that Yu Qun, Yu Zhou's sister, had
posted the information on the Internet. They constantly harassed Yu Qun and her
family and even interrogated Yu Qun. Mr. Yu's death and the persecution to which Ms. Xu was subjected helped the
family realize the real reason for the suffering. The family is determined to
seek justice for their loved ones. During the past nine years of persecution, people have seen Falun Gong
practitioners' compassion and tolerance and the evilness of the CCP. More and
more people have been awakened, including people who work for the Public
Security Bureau, for the People's Procuratorate, for hospitals and even prisons
and forced labor camps. They became sympathetic toward practitioners. Some have
even become practitioners. The righteous people have been watching the regime's
evil conduct. According to inside information, Ms. Xu Na is still incarcerated at the
Chongwen District Detention Center. The CCP perpetrators at the Chongwen
District Procuratorate handled this "investigation." We are calling on all people, especially Mr. Yu Zhou's fans, Yu Zhou and Xu
Na's friends, relatives, classmates, and coworkers to help end the severe human
rights violations in China, help and support Xu Na and Yu Zhou's family, condemn
the regime's brutality and stop their harassment of the family, so they can live
in peace. Posting date: 6/26/2008 |
