Finding Hidden Attachments After the Flushing Incident

(Clearwisdom.net) After the Sichuan earthquake on May 12, 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) orchestrated an attack on Falun Gong in Flushing, New York. After that, its thugs spread lies about the event through its media networks to incite Chinese people's hatred toward Falun Gong. The Mainland China rulers' ultimate purpose is to prevent people from learning the truth and receiving salvation.

Master told us,

"Don't be afraid that the consulates or the special agents will stir up trouble. As soon as they do that you should use the opportunity to let more people know about the truth. (Strong applause) Actually, you're Dafa disciples, so hey, their plots are playing right into your hands! (People laugh) When they stir up trouble you'll have an opportunity to clarify the facts and expose the evil, right? "As soon as you evil beings come near, I'll grab you and I'll let the world's people know"--that's the perfect time to expose them." ("Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference")

As a practitioner living in Sichuan, where the earthquake hit the hardest, I am trying my best to tell people what happened in Flushing. Specifically, I am distributing CD's published by the Minghui website entitled "Why the Sichuan Earthquake Was Used to Attack Falun Gong." We do this for rescuing people from the lies.

When we practitioners from Sichuan tell people what really happened in Flushing, how can we discover our true mindsets and improve ourselves? Why does the CCP spread lies to say that Falun Gong practitioners were enjoying the earthquake disaster and opposing donation efforts? Is it because some practitioners did not have enough compassion for the victims of the earthquake? Or some even harbor frustration and blame toward people for not listening to the Dafa practitioners who clarify the truth? These thoughts and mentalities were actually acknowledging the old forces' arrangements to ruin people's future and letting the evil take advantage of our loopholes.

As far as I am concerned, some of us do have this problem. I also had similar thoughts. Although I was not at the quake center, I still felt strong jolts during the quake. The day after the quake I visited a relative who was unwilling to listen to the truth from me. I said to him and his family, "I told you guys before, but you refused to listen. This quake is nothing! More severe disasters will happen soon!" My warning was not well received. They told me that I was enjoying others' misfortunes.

I lost an opportunity to offer them salvation. After I came home I took a hard look at myself: what kind of mentality caused this misunderstanding? Other practitioners also helped me examine my thoughts and found my problem. I did not have the compassion of a Dafa disciple, and I blamed my relatives for not taking my advice. When I said, "I told you..." I was boasting how right I was. Later I also heard other practitioners echoing resentment. When I had spoken with people after the earthquake, I had more or less conveyed a sense of venting my grievances. The result was poor.

Following the earthquake, all practitioners knew that we should hurry to offer people salvation. However, some practitioners also resented people's reaction when they refused to agree with us, something we reminded each other of during a recent group Fa study. We need to correct our thoughts and improve from there.

Practitioners know that compassion is a fundamental characteristic of all great, enlightened beings. Cultivation must replace our egocentric mentality with great compassion. I hope all practitioners harboring this wrong emotion [resentment] would improve. We will overcome this omission and stop the evil from taking advantage of our loopholes. Once everyone raises their understanding of this issue, then, no matter what happens in the future, we will not provide the same pretext for the evil to cause any further damage. Only then can we offer more people salvation.

Like Master said, we are not afraid of the evil causing any trouble. Whenever the evil tries something, we can take the opportunity to expose its nature and clarify the truth, and expose the true face of the CCP to the public. Yet, cultivation is about changing ourselves; no matter what happens, we should never forget to look for our own problems. The key issue this incident presented is to discover our human notions and improve ourselves together.
