(Clearwisdom.net) The annual Philippine Independence Day Parade was held on the afternoon of June 1, 2008, along Madison Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. Over a hundred parade entries from the Filipino community and other communities participated. Falun Dafa's Divine Land Marching Band stood out among all the entries as the only Chinese group in the parade, and was very well received by the parade spectators.

Spectators witness the grace of the Divine Land Marching Band

The annual parade in celebration of Philippine Independence Day is usually held around June 12th each year. Parade entries this year featured different groups from the Filipino community, artists, church groups and business groups. Over a hundred groups participated. Philippine dance performances and rare traditional music performances were also seen. Visitors from different parts of the Philippines dressed in their local costumes, and danced and sang to celebrate their independence day.

The Divine Land Marching Band, composed of Falun Dafa practitioners, made its appearance in the parade. The band members dressed in the costumes of Tang Dynasty musicians. They performed music including, "Falun Dafa Is Good," "America the Beautiful," and other songs. The spectators warmly applauded for their wonderful performance. Some Filipinos especially came forward and had their photos taken with the Divine Land Marching Band.

Filipino spectator Hemi said he thought that the Divine Land Marching Band was the most spectacular band in the parade and that Filipinos in New York should be proud of this special and unique band.

After the parade, the parade organizer invited the Divine Land Marching Band to take part in another large parade to be held in New Jersey at the end of June.
