(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that have occurred in 44 cities and counties in 19 provinces. In this report, 24 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least 97 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Pingshan County, Hebei Province] Mr. Shi Liangming and Ms. Cao Mingru Arrested
On the morning of May 6, 2008, Mr. Shi Liangming and Ms. Cao Mingru from Tianxing Village, Dawu Township, Pingshan County, were reported while distributing truth-clarifying material in Gangnan Town. Du Zhiguo, Chief of the Gangnan Town Police Station, led the arrests. They are now detained in the Pingshan County Detention Center.

2. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Meizhou City 610 Officers Sent a Practitioner to a Brainwashing Center
At 3 p.m. on May 15, 2008, police from the Meijiang District 610 Office of Meizhou City went to the Meijiang Branch of China Bank, arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fu Xuebing and sent her to the 610 Office Brainwashing Center of Meizhou City. At noon on May 17, Ms. Fu Xuebing managed to walk away with righteous thoughts.
On the night of May 6, 2008, practitioners Mr. Xiansheng, Mr. Ye Wenxin and Mr. Fan Feihai were arrested. They are being detained in the Fuda Detention Center in Meizhou City.

3. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Mr. Zheng Jianmin and Other Practitioners Arrested
At noon on May 18, 2008, police from the National Security Team, the Politics and Law Committee, and the 610 Office in Pingdingshan City rushed to the homes of Mr. Zheng Jianmin, Ms. Zong Shuqin, Ms. Xu Shiyun, Ms. Cheng Guihua, and Ms. Ma Shujun. The police took away cash, several laptops and printers. They arrested Mr. Zheng, Ms. Zong, and Ms. Xu.
4. [Chongqing] Ms. Li Zishu Arrested Again
On the evening of April 16, Chongqing practitioner Ms. Li Zishu was reported when she went out to clarify the truth. The national security police took her away to a local police station. She is now in the Baihelin Detention Center of Shapingba District.
5. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Yulan Arrested
Ms. Zhang Yulan, 57 years old, lives in the Qinghuayuan Residential Area in Beijing. On May 9, 2008, at the Zizhuyuan Park, she was arrested by police from the Wanshou Temple Police Station and taken to the Haidian Detention Center. Her husband suffers from heart disease and has had major heart surgery. Now no one takes care of him.
6. [Zhengding County, Hebei Province] Ms. Yang Jinping Arrested
Ms. Yang Jinping was reported while she was clarifying the truth in Freedom Plaza in the downtown area of Zhengding County. The police from Zhengding County arrested her. She is now detained in the Zhengding Detention Center.

At 7 p.m. on May 7, 2008, Zhangshu police rushed into the home of Ms. Wang Qingping and demanded that she write a guarantee statement giving up the practice. She refused, so the police took her away. At the same time, the police also searched Ms. Lu Huiling's home and arrested her.
15. [Hebi City, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Yunguo Was Sent to a Forced Labor Camp
On the afternoon of April 25, 2008, Hebi practitioner Mr. Wang Yunguo was reported to police while he was clarifying the truth at the Hebi Eighth Coal Mine. The police from Hebi City Mine Administration Bureau arrested him and then searched his home. On April 30, Mr. Wang was sentenced to one year of forced labor. He is being detained in the Xuchang City Third Forced Labor Camp in Henan Province.

21. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Liu Xihong and Mr. Liu Jinhua Arrested
In May 2008, Xianing Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Xihong and Mr. Liu Jinhua were arrested while they clarified the truth in Zhifang Town, Jiangxia District, Wuhan City. They are now detained in the Zhifang Town Detention Center in Jiangxia District.
22. [Shanghai City] Ms. Yu Peiying Arrested
On May 12, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Peiying from Zhabei District, Shanghai City was arrested while she was clarifying the truth at Dahua Area. Now her whereabouts is unknown.
23. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Luo Chaoming Arrested
On March 7, 2008, Dazhou practitioner Mr. Luo Chaoming was arrested while he delivered truth-clarifying materials to a practitioner's home. Mr. Luo is now detained in the Xuanhan County Detention Center in Dazhou City.
24. [Kaifeng City, Henan Province] Practitioners Including Ms. Xing Chunting Arrested
On May 17, 2008, using the excuse that the Olympic torch would pass through Kaifeng, police from the Henan Provincial Police Department arrested Ms. Xing Chunting and Mr. Huang Xuemin and his wife, Xiao Hong. The home of Mr. Huang Xuemin and Ms. Xiao Hong was searched. The police took away a computer, a CD burner, a printer and other consumables, etc. The total value was about 20,000 yuan.
25. [Jilin Province] On May 13, 2008, Yongji County Police Department Arrested Ms. Fei Dongmei and Two Other Practitioners
26. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] On May 14, 2008, Mr. Zhang Lizhi Working at the Purchase Center of Liaoyuan City Government Was Arrested by the National Security Police.
27. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Information about the Persecution of Mr. Wang Jinxian
Practitioner Mr. Wang Jinxian from Liushan Town, Linqu County, Weifang City, is being detained at the Zhangqiu Men's Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City, Shandong Province. Police from the Liushan Police Department took away all goods that were in Mr. Wang's car, amounting to several thousand yuan. They also took 20,000 yuan in cash from his home.
28. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Jingdong Arrested
On the afternoon of May 6, 2008, Mr. Liu Jingdong from Wulongbei Town, Zhen'an Distrcit, Dandong City, was reported while he was clarifying the truth. Police from Wulongbei Police Station and Dandong City Police Department arrested him. Now his whereabouts is unknown.

29. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Mr. Zhou Zhiming Sentenced
In September 2007, Kunming practitioner Mr. Zhou Zhiming was reported and arrested while he was distributing truth-clarifying CDs in Anning. He was sent to the Anning Detention Center.
In the middle of April 2008, Mr. Zhou was sentenced to three years' imprisonment. He is now detained in the Yunnan Provincial First Prison.
30. [Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province] Practitioners Including Ms. Dong Xiaobao Arrested
During the first ten days of May 2008, Ms. Dong Xiaobao, Ms. Zhang Fenfang, Ms. Zhang Juling, Mr. Huang Jun, Mr. Zou Chaojun, and Mr. Jin Shunsheng were arrested in Xinyu City.
31. [Yitong County, Jilin Province] Practitioners Including Ms. Zhao Fenglan Sent to a Forced Labor Camp
On April 23, 2008, Yitong practitioners Ms. Zhao Fenglan, Ms. Fan Zhongli, and Mr. Wang Jinbo were arrested. Later on, they were sent to a forced labor camp. Now Ms. Zhao is being detained in a small cell. Two detainees monitor her around the clock and do not allow her to talk with anyone. Every day, the guards try to force her to give up her practice. One of her legs has been badly injured. Ms. Fan is being forcibly brainwashed and does hard labor from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
32. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhang Lanping Detained
On the evening of May 7, 2008, Hefei practitioner Ms. Zhang Lanping was arrested by the 610 Office and sent to the Changqing Police Station in Shushan District, Hefei City. The next day, she was transferred to the Wuhu Road Police Station in Baohe District and then to a detention center.
33. [Tongyu County, Jilin Province] Hu Yougang Walked Away and His Wife Became Homeless
At 5 p.m. on May 14, 2008, a dozen people from the Tongyu County Police Department and a local police station rushed into the home of Mr. Hu Yougang and searched it. They took away a computer, a printer, truth-clarifying materials, and a bank book with about 9000 yuan. Mr. Hu walked away and his wife was forced to become homeless and destitute.
34. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Dong Arrested
On May 13, 2008, Ms. Dong, in her 50s, was arrested by police from the Laojunying Police Station of Yingze District Police Department. The police also searched her home. She is now detained at the Laojunying Police Station.
35. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Yuanyuan Arrested
36. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Xiuzhi Forced to Become Homeless and Destitute
Ms. Sun Xiuzhi is from Zhangxin Mine, Hengshan District, Jixi City. On May 13, 2008, she was reported while clarifying the truth in a market. Police from the Hengshan District Police Department and the Zhangxin Police Station searched her home and took away her computer and cellphone, etc. Ms. Sun was forced to become homeless and destitute.
37. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Ms. Li Guangping and Ms. Guo Qiping Arrested
On May 10, 2008, police from the Hongjiang District 610 Office and the National Security Team arrested Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Guangping and Ms. Guo Qiping. In Li Guangping's home, all Falun Gong books, Master's pictures, a computer, a printer, a satellite dish and receiver were taken away; in Guo Qipig's home, a satellite dish and receiver were taken away. Now they are being detained in the Hongjiang District Detention Center.
38. [Beijing City] Ms. Huang Shufang and Ms. Lu Jinmin Arrested
On the morning of May 16, 2008, Ms. Huang Shufang and Ms. Lu Jinmin from Xiatan Village, Shiwo Town, Fangshan District, Beijing City were arrested from their homes by police from the Shiwo Town Police Station. The home of Ms. Meng Qingying from the same village was also illegally searched by police.

41. [Beijing] Mr. Shaocheng Taken Away by Plainclothes Police
Mr. Shaocheng, about 40 years old, works in the Dongye Transportation Company in Beijing. On the evening of May 13, 2008, he was taken away by plainclothes police in Tongzhou District, Beijing City. Now his whereabouts is unknown.
42. [Dawa County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jia Fenglin and Ms. Li Guiqin Arrested
At 10:30 a.m. on May 8, 2008, seven or eight policemen from the Xinkai Town Police Station of Panjin City and the Dawa County National Security Team went to search the home of practitioner Mr. Jia Fenglin from Dongyulou. The police took away a TV, a VCD, a satellite antenna, etc. At that time, Ms. Li Guiqin was at Ms. Jia's home. The police took both of them away. Ms. Li was released after being extorted 500 yuan. Ms. Jia is now in the Dawa County Detention Center.

Practitioner Mr. Meng Bo, 39 years old, lives in Xifanliu Village, Zhangqiu City. He is disabled and has difficulty taking care of himself. In the early morning of May 17, 2008, he was arrested by police from the Guanzhuang Township Police Station and the Zhangqiu City 610 Office and his home was searched.

46. [Chongqing] Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted
In March 2008, using the Olympic Games as an excuse, police from the Jiulongpo District Police Department and the Xipeng Town Police Station arrested Ms. Gong Xiuying, Mr. Yang Meizhe, Ms. Jiang Jinrong, and Mr. Wu Shihui. Ms. Jiang has been released. The others are being detained in a brainwashing center in Chongqing.
47. [Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Wenqi and Mr. Song Shufu Sent to a Forced Labor Camp for Three Years
On the evening of May 6, 2008, Mr. Wang Wenqi and Mr. Song Shufu were arrested and detained in the Rushan Detention Center. On May 9, 2008, they were transferred to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province for three years' term.

49. [Wudi County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Rusheng and Other Practitioners from Chezhen Township Arrested
On May 9, 2008, Mr. Zhao Rusheng, Mr. Liu Quanyi, Mr. Zhao Yunsheng, and Mr. Zhao Jingrui from Chezhen Township, Wudi County, were arrested by police from the Chezhen Township Police Station. Their homes were searched. They are now detained in the Wudi County Detention Center.
Ms. Lin Chunzhe and Ms. Lin Chunming were arrested by the Chezhen Township Police Station officers while they were clarifying the truth. Their homes were searched. They are now in the county detention center.
50. [Luancheng County, Hebei Province] Ms. Kang Zhenlan Detained
Around May 15, 2008, police forcibly searched the bag of Ms. Kang Zhenlan on her way back to Luancheng County from Shijiazhuang City. From her bag, the police found truth-clarifying CDs and then arrested her. Now her whereabouts is unknown.
51. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zhong Mingying and Ms. Qu Fengying Arrested
On the afternoon of May 11, 2008, Hengyang Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhong Mingying and Ms. Qu Fengying were reported and arrested while they were being clarifying the truth at Bailuao. They are being detained in the Xidu Detention Center in Hengyang County.
52. [Gaocheng County, Hebei Province] Practitioners Including Ms. Wang Yuexia Detained in a Labor Camp
On the evening of April 15, 2008, Ms. Wang Yuexia, Ms. Ji Junyan, Ms. Ji Xiaoran, and another practitioner from Zengcun Town, Gaocheng County, were arrested by Xiguan Town Police Station officers while the four were distributing truth-clarifying materials in Beimeng Village, Xiguan Town. On May 13, 2008, they were sent to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp for one year and three months.
53. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jiang Fengqin Persecuted
On the morning of May 19, 2008, practitioner Ms. Jiang Fengqin from Gaoxinyuan District, Dalian City was arrested by three policemen from the Xinghaiwan Police Department in Dalian City. Now her whereabouts is unknown.

On the morning of May 19, 2008, Ms. Wang Haixia from Huayang Town, Shuangliu County was arrested by the Shiyou Police Station in Huayang Town. She is now detained in the Shiyou Police Station.
56. [Yongnian County, Hebei Province] In May 2008, Mr. Li Huaiyi Arrested and His Home Searched
57. [Tianjin City] Practitioners Including Ms. Gao Jianling Arrested
On May 19, 2008, practitioners including Ms. Gao Jianling and Ms. Lu Shuying from Wuqing District were reported and arrested because they clarified the truth on a bus. They are now detained in the Wuqing Detention Center.
58. [Shuangliu County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xiang Xiaofen and Ms. Li Jie Arrested
On the afternoon of May 14, 2008, at the Majia Temple, Jinhua Town, Wuhou District, Chengdu City, practitioners Ms. Xiang Xiaofen and Ms. Li Jie was arrested by officers with the Jiujiang Police Station of Jiujiang Town, Shuangliu County. They are now detained in the Shuangliu County Detention Center.
59. [Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province] On May 16, 2008, Mr. Lin Guanghu Arrested by the Maoshan Police Station and His Home Searched

On the evening of May 14, 2008, practitioners Ms. Han Jiaping and Ms. Li Hongju from Laocheng Town, Wucheng County, were arrested by county police department officers. They are now in the county detention center.
61. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Shan Persecuted
On May 13, 2008, Mr. Liu Shan was arrested by police in front of the building where his home is located. He is now in the Jinjia Street Detention Center in Dalian City.
62. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Weiping Arrested
Ms. Wang Weiping, 40 years old, lives in Qushui Village, Tumen City. On May 17, 2008, police from the Yuegong Police Station went to the Town Grain Store, took the truth-clarifying materials away from Ms. Wang and arrested her. She is now in Tumen Detention Center.
