Two Women Arrested and Locked Up in a Brainwashing Center (Funing County, Hebei Province)

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 22, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Xuemei and Ms. Liu Zhiling from Shimenzhai Town, Funing County (part of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province) were arrested by officers from the Shimenzhai Police Station. Ms. Wang and Ms. Liu were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in a street market in Shimenzhai Town. After the arrests they were illegally detained in the county detention center. Fifteen days later, they were detained in a so-called "Law Education School" in Funing County, where they were forced to attend brainwashing sessions. During a visit to Ms. Wang a while ago, her family found visible marks of violent abuse on her neck. They are still investigating the specifics of her condition.

At 7:30 p.m. on September 12, 2007, Li Haifeng, chief of the Domestic Security Team, led a dozen police officers to break into Ms. Wang's rented apartment without following any legal process. They ransacked her apartment and took her away. At the time, Ms. Wang was only wearing a tank-top. Yet, the officers disregarded this and dragged her along with another female practitioner into a car. They took them to the Shimenzhai Police Station, and then to a brainwashing center for further persecution.

The key persons in charge of the "Law Education School" in Funing County are Yang Yinglong (male) and Xu Lei (male). Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in 1999, the authorities have been arresting practitioners from Funing County and the surrounding areas. They put the practitioners in the brainwashing center indefinitely. Seventy six Falun Gong practitioners were illegally detained and persecuted in this center in the year 2000 alone.

Yang Yinglong, the director of the brainwashing center, previously worked at the Zhucaoying Town Police Station. In 1999, he followed the CCP's orders to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. He has been engaged in the illegal arrests and violent abuse of practitioners, and in ransacking their homes.

In January 2002, when it was snowing and the temperature was -14^oC (7^oF), Yang and his subordinates arrested practitioner Ms. Zhang Fengying and took her to the police station. They spread her hands wide open and cuffed them to a big iron gate outside of the police station. They handcuffed her hands tightly, which caused them to swell and become blackish-purple. Ms. Zhang was wearing very little clothing at the time when her hands were cuffed for 12 hours. Yang Yinglong was promoted to his current position for using cruel and violent means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

Another leader in the brainwashing center is Xu Lei. He is known for his soft and slow approach to force Falun Gong practitioners into denouncing their beliefs. Others in the 610 Office who have taken part in the persecution are Zheng Xiaojun (male), Zhang Honghai (male), and Zhao Yanling (female).
