The Essential Issue Is Whether or Not One Believes in Teacher and Falun Dafa

(Clearwisdom.net) While discussing our understandings about the Fa, two practitioners talked about how each of them dealt with the same issue from two different angles. Practitioner A said that one day before the persecution on July 20, 1999, an insurance salesman came to the company where he worked to promote health insurance plans. He told the insurance salesman he did not need to buy any health insurance anymore because he would not have any sickness in the future. His colleagues laughed at him and said, "Humans eat grain and will certainly have illnesses. How can you be so sure that you will not get an illness?" Practitioner A could not persuade his colleagues to believe what he said, but he refused to buy health insurance. He successfully passed most sickness karma tribulations. One time, however, the sickness karma was so bad that he wondered if dying wouldn't be better than living. After the sickness karma passed, he felt it was not a big thing anymore when he recalled what he had gone through, and two weeks later it seemed to have been nothing more than a "blip" in the course of his life.

Practitioner B also met the health insurance salesman. She noticed that one of the policies explained how much money she needed to invest and then within the period of that payment, she could have one free physical checkup. Also if she was sick, the health insurance would cover the medical expense by paying double the amount of what she paid. After three years if she did not use any of the insurance, she would get back all the money she had invested. She did the calculations and felt it was worthwhile to do that, so she bought the health insurance. Although she practiced Falun Dafa, she had not totally recovered from the illnesses she had prior to beginning the practice. Later on, she had a physical checkup and was told an illness had became worse. She stayed in the hospital to be cured and the health insurance paid twice the money she paid when she bought the insurance. She did not understand why other people could recover from their illnesses, even some very serious illnesses, and why she could not recover. On the contrary, her illness became worse. Her fellow practitioners told her that the problem might be because she had bought the health insurance. She said she looked inward and thought about what might go wrong. She said it might be that she wanted those petty things for small gains. Her fellow practitioners told her that she only looked at things from the superficial aspect and did not try to look deep inside. The bottom line, actually, was whether or not a person truly believes in Teacher and Dafa. Why did she want to buy health insurance? She wanted to have backup in the form of health insurance in case Dafa might not be able to cure her. That was her human mentality. Of course, Practitioner B did not admit that she did not totally believe in Teacher and Dafa because she had been doing the three things. Finally she admitted that she was not that thorough and firm in her belief.

In fact, whatever we encounter in our cultivation practice, no matter how complicated or serious it may be, and sometimes it may be very difficult to understand, it is in fact a test for how much we truly believe in our Teacher and Dafa. If we do not have enough belief in our Teacher and Dafa, it is equal to having no belief at all. Teacher said:

"Dafa disciples, all the way until their last step to Consummation, will be tested as to whether they can make it. There could be very, very critical tests for you all the way until you are just one step away from finishing. (Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles, February 25, 2006)

We talk about cultivation practice. Do you know what we should follow to practice our cultivation? We follow Teacher's Fa. If you do not believe in Teacher's Fa or do not completely believe in it, what do you want to cultivate for? Of course we are practicing our cultivation in a maze, and we might not be able to understand something immediately. Teacher also understands us. There is a process to understanding and comprehending the Fa. This is the process of practicing cultivation. Teacher has constantly told us to look inward. We should not always view issues superficially and only go through the motions without looking deep inside our own hearts. If we look deep inside, we will see that the essential issue is related to the level of our belief in Teacher and Dafa.
