(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 2008, a date marking nine years of the
persecution against Falun Gong in China, practitioners in Thailand held a
candlelight vigil in Queens Park to memorialize the fellow practitioners who
were killed in the persecution, and appeal to the world to help end the
persecution immediately. The practitioners, wearing white T-shirts, held up banners to clarify
the truth and lit candles. The event was to memorialize the practitioners
who lost their lives in safeguarding their beliefs and to support the 40 million
Chinese who have quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated
organizations. Thai Falun Gong practitioners memorialize fellow practitioners
who were killed in the CCP's persecution and appeal for the end of persecution
on July 20, 2008 The Minghui/Clearwisdom website has confirmed that 3,168 Chinese Falun Dafa
practitioners have been killed in the persecution since July 20, 1999, when
Jiang Zemin ordered the eradication of Falun Gong. There are also over 100,000
practitioners illegally held in forced labor camps, and thousands detained in
mental hospitals. Countless others have been arrested, beaten, tortured and even
had their organs harvested while still alive. The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) initiated
a "Million Signature Campaign against the Persecution" in 127
countries and regions. As of July 20, over 1.1 million signatures have been
collected. In Thailand, many people participated in the campaign and signed
their names to demand that the CCP stop the persecution and to support Falun
Gong's efforts against the persecution. |
