Eight Falun Gong Practitioners from Tangshan City Arrested, Including Ms. Zhang Yueqin

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 10, 2008, Tangshan City officials arrested eight Falun Gong practitioners. Among them were Ms. Zhang Yueqin and her husband, Ms. Zhang's son-in-law, Mr. Sun Fengli, as well as Ms. Liu Suying and Xiaohao.

On the morning of July 10, Tangshan City officials dispatched officers from Diaoyutai Police Station to monitor the residence of Ms. Zhang Yueqin. At 10:00 a.m. many police cars arrived. The police tried to pry open the lock on her residence but were unsuccessful. Later they sent two fire-engine ladder trucks and climbed up and broke into the south and north windows of Ms. Zhang's sixth floor home. They barged in through the windows and seized Zhang Yueqin and her husband, and Luo Zhijian's sister, as well as two other practitioners and Ms. Liu Suying, who lives on Caochang Street.

The police confiscated a computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and truth clarifying materials. They also confiscated over 600,000 yuan in cash that Ms. Zhang's oldest daughter had borrowed with the intention of establishing a joint business venture.

That same morning the police also arrested Mr. Sun Fengli (Ms. Zhang Yueqin's son-in-law) at the factory where he worked. They ransacked and confiscated his personal belongings. The current whereabouts of Mr. Sun are unknown. Ms. Zhang and her husband were most probably taken to the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center. The visiting woman was incarcerated in Diaoyutai Police Station.

At 5:00 p.m. on July 10, Ms. Hao, who lives at the Longyun Building on Jichang Road, was arrested at the factory where she worked and taken to the Xingyuan Street police station. The police also went to her house. The details are still being investigated.
