Recent Persecution Cases in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province

Mr. He Congfeng, 47, was held in the Jiamusi City Prison from April 2002 to April 2008. In April 2004, he was tortured for refusing to perform forced labor. Party Director Wang Guozhi tied him to a power pole and doused him with water from head to toe in the cold weather. In August 2004, the guards ordered other prisoners to keep him from sleeping for several days in a row.

Mr. He was finally released in mid-April 2008, but on May 28, 2008, officers from the Lingnan Police Station in Xingshan District arrested him at his home during the night. They also seized his Falun Dafa books and truth-clarifying DVDs.

Mr. Wang Dongxu, 47, was arrested at his home on May 29, 2008, by officers from the Lingnan Police Station in Xingshan District. At around noon on that day, both Mr. Wang and Mr. He were taken to the Hegang City Second Detention Center. Officers told Mr. Wang's family that he would be released in 15 days, but after almost two months, the center has neither released him nor permitted him to have any visitors.

On June 4 or 5 of 2008, police arrested Mr. Zeng Qinghe and his wife Tang Guirong from Xingshan District. Mr. Zeng was disabled in 1987 after falling from a truck while hauling sand for the Baoquanling Farm Corporation. After he began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997, his leg miraculously recovered within six months. Since the persecution started, however, he has had to endure multiple arrests.

Mr. Li Qian and Ms. Wang Lizhen were also arrested in mid-June 2008.
