Authorities in Shouguang City, Shandong Province Recently Arrested Many Falun Dafa Practitioners

(Clearwisdom.net) In the afternoon of May 23, 2008, Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Zhao Xiushun and his Mrs. Wang Suxiang in Zhaojia Village, Gucheng Town, Shouguang City, Shandong Province were illegally arrested, while they were building their house, by almost twenty plainclothes policemen in four cars. The practitioners were taken to the Gucheng Town Police Station and handcuffed to a radiator for four days. The wife was released, but the husband was sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor following a one-month detention.

Another practitioner couple, Mr. Zhang Keliang and Mrs. Wang Zhongyun, was also illegally detained. Mrs. Wang Zhongyun was riding her bicycle to work when a car without a license plate knocked her to the ground. She was taken away and shackled to a steel chair for four days. Her lower body became disabled from torture. She is now bedridden, and she needs to be carried to the bathroom each time she has to go. For every meal, Mrs. Wang is fed by Mrs. Han Lianfeng. The detention center guards said that it was no big deal, since they had persecuted her to that extent before.

On May 23, 2008, Shouguang Police authorities also arrested Zhang Zhaoyu and Han Lianfeng, both in their fifties, and three other Falun Dafa practitioners, Lao Er, Lao Si, and Lao Wu. These practitioners were also tortured by the police.

On July 8, 2008, police from Gucheng Town Police Station arrested three practitioners in Zujia Village. The practitioners were Ms. Zhao Liming, Mrs. Ding Fulian, and Mr. Zhao Shiheng. The next day, three more practitioners in Zhaojia Village and a practitioner in Beifeng Village were arrested.

Falun Dafa practitioners and other detainees in the Shouguang City Detention Center all have to perform the forced labor of garlic husking. The high workload has given almost every detainee blisters and boils on the hands. The food provided by the detention center is terrible. Frequently, the steamed buns are only half-cooked and contain dead flies. Sometimes the food is too rotten to consume.
