(Clearwisdom.net) On the Fourth of July, American Independence Day, Redwood City in the San Francisco Bay area held its annual grand parade. The Falun Gong contingent was one of the 527 groups participating in the parade. Major coordinator of the parade and Chairman of the Peninsula Celebration Association Robert Slusser said that they have been inviting muti-cultural groups in the past years to take part in the parade, and the Falun Gong group has been bright, colorful, and their performances excellent.

Stephanie Hernandez Marquez grew up in Redwood City, and she was the MCs for the parade. When introducing Falun Gong, she blurted out, "I really like them!" Another MC, R. T. Carr cut in, "I think they are fantastic!"
Marquez said, "I wholeheartedly like Falun Dafa, because I like their 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,' so when they passed by, my voice choked, not only because how beautiful they are, but because of their inner peace and compassion... so I like them. If I were to choose a symbolic group for the parade, (it's) them, because of their message."
Carr added that Falun Gong's exercise music is very peaceful. When they pass by, it makes people feel as if they are peacefully making their way through the dusty throng.
Carr said that as an MC, sometimes they may not have manuscripts, and would be anxious about failing to introduce to tens of thousands of spectators what the group just passing by looked like. But the presentation of Falun Dafa group does not need any introduction, he said.
Nancy, one of the spectators, said that the only ethnic group that she could remember was Falun Gong, "I think they are so beautiful!" she said.
Another spectator, Mariam Lane, a mother who brought her son to watch the parade, said that Falun Gong left a deep impression on her son Tracy. When watching the Falun Gong exercise demonstration, she could feel those who practiced the exercises were very happy.
The organizers of the parade set up several stages at different places along the parade route to introduce the parade groups. Ted Holland was also one of the MCs. He said, "I'm very surprised that there are so many Falun Gong practitioners. Their group is majestic, and is one of the grandest groups in the parade. Their costumes are brilliant and gorgeous, and they display a good demeanor."
Redwood City is located in the Mid-Peninsula area of San Francisco Bay. This was the 70th annual celebration of Independence Day in Redwood City. Over 500 groups from different cities participated, attracting 200,000 to 300,000 spectators. It is the oldest and largest parade in northern California.
(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) instigated mobsters to attack Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing, New York beginning on May 17, 2008. Falun Gong practitioners remained steadfast and continued their truth-clarification activities in Flushing. After finding out what happened, the local residents of Flushing took the initiative of supporting Falun Gong and resisting the CCP's evil aggression.
Ms. Zhou from Boston is one of the Falun Gong practitioners who have been clarifying truth in front of the Flushing Public Library. She treasures every opportunity to explain the truth to people, including the policemen who protect the practitioners. She has frequently witnessed how Chinese people choose between good and evil in a single day.

One morning during the last week of June, Ms. Zhou were surprised to see Lewis, an African American policeman she had met two weeks earlier. She said, "I am happy to see you again!" Lewis said, "I will come every day." Another policeman said, "He comes because of your devotion to your cause and your group!"
Ms. Zhou once saw two policemen outside the public library. She was about approach them when policeman A waved his hand. He didn't seem to want to listen. But policeman B had never been there or heard Falun Gong's true story. Ms. Zhou hesitated but started telling policeman B about Falun Gong. Policeman A turned his head toward Ms. Zhou, and the two of them listened carefully. Policeman A expressed his sympathy for Falun Gong and condemned the CCP atrocities. It was the first time policeman B had heard about it. He happily accepted a lotus flower made by Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Zhou told the officers that the CCP uses its assistants to frame up Falun Gong. It is hard for Americans to see what is happening. If you don't tell the policemen, it may not be easy for them to see how the CCP is framing Falun Gong. The CCP usually sends a few thugs to start saying bad words. A few others then systematically join in. They are actually acting together, and this is their trick. They lead the deceived people to block the road and make trouble for the police.
A Chinese man came to the front of the library one day and said he had something important to tell Falun Gong practitioners. He said he often visited online Chinese and overseas forums, and he found that during the recent month if he posted articles exposing the CCP's evil persecutory nature and expressed support for Falun Gong, no one deleted them. "You can keep them as long as you want to." He said this hadn't been possible before.
He also found more and more people supporting Falun Gong when talking with his friends. He said, "Those who support you are well-educated Chinese. I found a pattern. The CCP can't find such well-educated people to support itself. It can only convince ruffians and hooligans to support its evil force." He continued, "The time for the public at large to support you has begun. I am very eager to help you, and I will come here every day. When the deceived people surround you, I will step in and talk to them repeatedly. This works very well. I even feel uneasy if I don't come out to confront the CCP assistants every day." When Ms. Zhou told him about her talk with the police officers, he cursed the CCP and said, "The CCP made me learn Russian. If I had known English, I would have talked to the policemen."
Ms. Zhou told another story with tears in her eyes. "An older gentleman told me, 'Falun Gong is uniquely unmoved by honor or disgrace.'" Ms. Zhou was touched that he could clearly tell the good from the bad. The gentleman said he wasn't the right person to do the exercises because he couldn't concentrate, but he admired Falun Gong practitioners for not only being persistent, but also for keeping a very kind and peaceful attitude under a terribly dangerous situation. It was extraordinary. He said he couldn't do that.
The gentleman said, "All I can do now is to collect all kinds of Falun Gong materials. I have all kinds, including the CDs. I managed to give the materials to my friends in China and told them repeatedly about Falun Gong. My goal is to tell everyone I talk to. My relatives and friends used to reject The Epoch Times newspaper. Now they have learned from me how to break through the Internet blockade to read news overseas."

Falun Gong practitioners held a variety of activities at the Canada Day event. Truth-clarification displays included information from the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party publication, information about quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and an introduction to the Divine Performing Arts. The Falun Gong practitioners' artistic performances attracted many people. The practitioners also demonstrated Falun Gong exercises along with the music. Some of the children followed along with the stretching exercise movements, and many adults asked about exercise site locations and bought exercise instruction CDs.
Many people from China requested information and obtained truth-clarifying materials, and many Canadians signed a petition showing their support for Falun Gong after learning about the evil conduct of the CCP assistants in Flushing.
One Korean man said he felt the strong energy at the exercise field. He quietly stood in the field for a long time and talked to Falun Gong practitioners. A Canadian man said he had been reading The Epoch Times for years and knew about Falun Gong. He had also heard about the Flushing incident.
During the Canada Day celebration, Falun Gong practitioners performed the lion dance and ribbon dance, and gave flute and Erhu performances. Tourists enjoyed these performances very much, especially the resonant drumming.
(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of July 1, 2008, the Montreal Quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Service Center organized a rally in Chungshan Park in Montreal, Canada's Chinatown, to support the 39 million Chinese who have withdrawn from the CCP. The rally attracted many people, both Chinese and westerners. The Divine Land Marching Band, consisting of Falun Gong practitioners, was also invited to the rally.

Li Zhenwen, a senior overseas Chinese, gave a speech at the rally in Montreal. He urged the Chinese people including those assisting the CCP or otherwise "pro-CCP" to read the book "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party." He hopes everyone will recognize the CCP's true nature, denounce the CCP and never bully Chinese people using the CCP's thuggish tactics, as occurred during the incidents in Flushing, New York.
On the same day, the Quitting the CCP Service Centers in Australia and Malaysia also held rallies. In Ismael Park of Kuala Lumpur, the rally celebrated the 39 million withdrawals from the CCP and also called on residents to participate in a "Million Signature Drive," calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
Mr. Jan, a businessman from Australia said, "I saw the report on the Chinese Communist Party's crimes of harvesting organs from jailed Falun Gong practitioners. It is so horrifying. The world ought to be aware of this. Now the Beijing Olympics are coming. I hope we can help them (the victims)."
(Clearwisdom.net) From June 27 to 29, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners in the central region of Taiwan gathered in the Lizhi Duke Grand Hotel, Douliu City of Yunlin County, for three days of continuous Fa study and sharing. Practitioners were moved and elevated in the pure environment through group sharing of understanding and insights on the Fa, cultivation experiences, upgrading of xinxing, and searching within. Everyone felt much benefited from this Fa study and sharing.

A practitioner shares cultivation experiences
A practitioner from Taichung shared his experiences from 2005 during the time of intense truth clarification in Manhattan. He was a new practitioner at the time, but he had convenient circumstances to go to the US. However, he avoided the issue through one way or another due to his attachment to comfort. Finally, under the encouragement of fellow practitioners, he decided to go. Yet due to the lack of righteous thoughts, many human attachments surfaced. He was concerned that the weather may be too cold, he may catch a cold, or worried about experiencing hardship and considered whether he should return early. Once he reached Manhattan, all the hardships he had been concerned about became real. In the -18 degree weather, he fell ill with a cold and fever. Whatever he was more afraid of, he would come across, in order for him to cultivate away the attachment to comfort and fear of hardship. Once he truly cultivated his own mind on the Fa, he was determined to be rid of those bad attachments. After experiencing these hardships, he let go of the attachments, and came to understand that factors of cultivation are integrated in validating the Fa.
In sharing about the power of righteous thoughts, one practitioner shared the example of his daughter's experience of fever. His entire family were practitioners, and knew how to treat the matter when his daughter caught a fever. However, when the fever did not subside, his human attachments surfaced, and took her to see a Chinese medicine doctor with whom they were acquainted. After diagnoses through the pulse, the Chinese medicine doctor said seriously, that the pulse did not match the symptoms of a fever. At that moment, the couple realized what was going on. After they returned home, they sent righteous thoughts around their daughter, and within a few minutes, her fever disappeared. This event also displayed the power of righteous thoughts to them.
Mr. Huang from Taichung said that in the past he had come in contact with many schools of practice, but upon cultivating Falun Dafa, he experienced the pure righteousness and beauty of Dafa. Through the process of cultivation he got rid of many attachments. As a non-practitioner, he used to be a man who thought of himself highly as a manager, and there would be someone to help him with every task. Yet as the progress of Fa rectification advances, many projects for validating the Fa require everyone's participation. In validating the Fa through distributing flyers, and selling tickets for the Chinese New Year Spectacular, he discovered various attachments, and cultivated them away.
A fellow practitioner in Yunlin also talked about the current state of the local practice site. He pointed out practitioners' state of Fa study and exercise at the site was not very good, as some practitioners were reluctant to come out and validate the Fa. Ms. Huang shared her own efforts on this matter. She called practitioners who scarcely came out for group practice and Fa study, and suggested holding a Fa study at the fellow practitioner's home. Ms. Huang helped practitioners at the practice site to step forward to validate Dafa, and she also helped each practitioner at the site to improve in their cultivation. She understood that when a wish is formed to assist in the Fa-rectification, Master will help us. Another event which touched Ms. Huang, was when her husband who used to practice other qi-gong, began to cultivate in Dafa. He opened a Fa study location at there home, which was a great breakthrough for their cultivation environment.
In the afternoon sharing, practitioners shared enthusiastically on the relationship between righteous thoughts and sickness karma. An elderly practitioner shared his experience. One day at work, he suddenly felt a pustule on his back with puss. In the following days, the pustule extended toward his chest, and seemed like an illness with the common name of "belt-shaped snake skin". People in his surroundings tried to persuade him to seek medical treatment, but his heart did not move. He solidly persisted in Fa study and exercise, and held the thought of letting go of life and death. Not long after, the pustule became a scar, and healed without medicine. This allowed people around him to witness the miracle of Dafa.
During the night sharing, a practitioner spoke of his experiences in sending forth righteous thoughts in the morning at 6:00am. In the past, as soon as he began to send righteous thoughts, the garbage truck would arrive; after taking out the garbage, by the time he returned, there would only be 7 or 8 minutes left. Subsequently he came to understand further the importance of sending forth righteous thoughts. As his state of mind was adjusted, the environment also changed; now the garbage truck arrives at 5:45am every day.
The sharing on Sunday morning focused on truth clarification projects. A practitioner shared that through her experience of truth clarification on the phone, her husband also listened to the truth by her side, and learned of fellow practitioners who pro-actively provided calling cards for fellow practitioners. He felt the greatness of Dafa disciple's efforts, and thus obtained the Fa. Within three months he had quit smoking and drinking. Moreover, the stomach ulcers which ailed him for many years disappeared without a trace.
Ms. Cai also shared that she maintained the mindset of cherishing interactions with every sentient being. She treasured every opportunity, because it may be their one chance to hear the truth, for which the being has waited for tens of thousands of years. Thus, if we don't do well, wouldn't we ruin what he has awaited for tens of thousands of years? How could we face Master's benevolent salvation, and the anticipation of sentient beings? So she always cherishes these opportunities, and her efforts in truth clarification have been maintained at a relatively good standard.
On the afternoon of June 29, a large group sharing was held at the main building of Yunlin's Department of Engineering and Irrigation. Approximately 600 practitioners gathered at the hall and after group Fa study everyone shared experiences in upgrading xinxing and understandings on the Fa through validating the Fa. After hearing of an elderly practitioner who was illiterate, but learned to study the Fa independently and clarify the truth with unwavering diligence, some practitioners expressed their feeling of embarrassment for not being so diligent. Practitioners found their own shortcomings through the sharing, broke through notions, and encouraged themselves to hasten their steps in following the progress of Fa-rectification.
Practitioners look forward to the next opportunity for participating in this environment of Fa study and sharing.
(Clearwisdom.net) Director of the service center Kunio Sato said that the Quit the CCP Service Center was first established in Japan over three years ago, and has been helping Japanese people be aware of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) nature of violence and lies. For three years the service center has been helping Chinese people become free of the CCP's control. The Global Quit-the-CCP Service Center, Japan branch, is now officially recognized and approved by the Tokyo authorities. It will be able to further break through the CCP's information blockade, and provide better service for the Chinese people including Chinese visitors to Japan and Chinese immigrants, helping them quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

Japan has seven service centers so far, including the Quit-the-CCP Service Center in front of Akihabara Station in Tokyo where Chinese and other tourists frequently visit, the Service Center in front of Ikebukuro Station, also known as New Chinese Street, the Service Center in front of Tokyo Station, the Service Center in front of the Chinese Consulate in Osaka, the Service Center at Antianzhao Market in East Osaka City, the Service Center in Osaka Castle Park, and the Quit-the-CCP Service Center in front of Shizuoka Station.
Background
The Epoch Times website published an editorial series, the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party at the end of 2004. The series exposes the Chinese Communist Party's intrinsically evil nature, and has led to a major tide of Chinese people quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Quit-the-CCP Service Centers were soon established, providing assistance for awakened Chinese people. Out of fear, the CCP constantly harasses the Quit-the-CCP Service Centers, and it even went so far as to hire agents and accomplices to attack Falun Gong practitioners at the Service Center in Flushing, New York City on May 17, 2008. Nevertheless, the CCP's attack against the Quit-the-CCP Service Center in Flushing led to the establishment of more Service Centers around the world. Besides the original more than one hundred Quit-the-CCP Service Centers, dozens more Service Centers have been established, and the number is still increasing.
(Clearwisdom.net) The Human Rights Torch Relay, initiated by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, (CIPFG) arrived in Tokyo Japan on June 18. From Tokyo, the relay traveled to Nagano, Osaka, Nagoya, Hiroshima and Fukuoka, then on to Korea. During the relay events in the six cities of Japan, local council members, university teachers, NGO representatives, and Chinese people in Japan made speeches calling for an end to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong and for the human rights of Chinese people.
All Circles Condemn CCP Atrocities
At the Tokyo rally, former parliament member Mr. Nakatsugawa, a long time supporter of Falun Gong, strongly condemned the CCP's trampling of human rights. He said, "Everyone knows about the CCP's persecution of Tibetans, Christians and other groups. But the most horrible among all the suppressions is the persecution of Falun Gong. In modern society, CCP doctors are conducting live organ removals!" He said, "The CCP is not qualified to host the Olympics while continuing the persecution of Falun Gong."
During the Osaka rally, Mr. Ihira Yoshimura, from the Association of Great Harmony, said in his speech, "Communism is a cancer of humankind. If the cancer cells grow, our body and life will die. If communism grows, not only peace, but also human beings will become extinct. Communism is thus terrorism. We cannot allow it to grow. I believe a real China can be restored along with the efforts of Falun Gong practitioners."
Mr. Ryozou Ishibashi, a member of the Hiroshima County Council, said in his speech, "The persecution that Falun Gong practitioners are suffering is beyond our imagination. The brutal human rights persecution in China has become known around the world through the Internet."
Professor Sadakane Haruo of Kumamoto Shokei College has visited China more than twenty times. He condemned the CCP's human rights violations and the persecution. He pointed out his surprise at the bloody persecution of the student democratic movement in 1989 and the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. But even with such human rights violations, the CCP is hosting the Olympics. He said he agreed with the mission of the Human Rights Torch Relay, which calls for an end to the CCP's human rights persecution before the Olympics.
Ando Kan, deputy director of CIPFG Asian Delegation, experienced the persecution personally. He traveled to the six cities along with the torch relay and passed along the torch in each city. He pointed out, "The CCP brainwashes people with violence and lies in an attempt to change people's thinking and not tolerate any other belief. The CCP's persecution of Falun Gong, Christians, and Buddhists indicates that the CCP is an evil cult."
He said he knows that the CCP regime's maintaining power by suppressing people cannot last long. He said, "In the torch relay in Japan, more and more people have come to know the brutality of the CCP's human rights violations. They join the torch relay run or applaud the running procession to support the event." He said in confidence that the success of the global human rights torch relay indicates the end of the persecution of human rights in the near future.
Human Rights Torch Relay Captures the Attention of Japanese Media
Before the torch arrived at Nagoya on June 25, Chūnichi Shinbun, the largest media in mid-Japan, reported the story of a local Falun Gong practitioner and his speech exposing the CCP police's unlawful detention of his mother, a Falun Gong practitioner. The Mainichi Newspapers, one of the three main newspapers in Japan, covered the torch relay in its local news page.
On June 28, when the torch arrived in Hiroshima, a local TV station covered the torch relay in the city.
The torch relay has passed through more than 120 cities in thirty-five countries and regions in five continents. The next stop is Korea on July 2, followed by Macau on July 18. The final stop is Hong Kong on July 20.
(Clearwisdom.net) Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was awarded the privilege of hosting the Olympics in 2001, they have made use of the Olympics as an excuse to intensify repression and human rights abuses even more severely, especially in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. On February 19, 2008, under the banner of "The Central Political and Judiciary Committee," the CCP distributed a secret document entitled, "Comments on means by which to practically maintain the stability of society and guarantee the security of the Beijing Olympics." They recommended that between March and August 2008, the Party should "focus time and manpower to organize activities that will solve specific conflicts." They also specifically emphasized the need to "guard against and severely punish" Falun Gong practitioners. In late February 2008, the CCP Provincial Committee of Jilin Province held an urgent meeting focused on increasing the persecution of Falun Gong.
I. Branches of the CCP Work Together on the Persecution
In early March, the various CCP branches in Changchun and surrounding counties held a series of meetings to coordinate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun worked with all of the police stations in the province to provide detailed information about all of the practitioners who were persecuted by re-education through labor, especially those practitioners they thought to be "important." Then the police stations, based on this information, investigated, harassed and arrested practitioners one-by-one. All of the officers in the police stations were called to work and assigned to check practitioners in their district according to the blacklist that had been compiled. For those practitioners who had moved to new homes, police checked their workplaces. For those who had no workplace, they sought out their relatives. If they could not find any clue as to practitioners' whereabouts, they deceived the practitioners or their relatives into returning to the community using the ruse that they needed to come for something related to "social security." They tried every means to contact practitioners, and then threatened, tricked or forced practitioners into leaving their fingerprints, having their pictures taken, or signing/writing statements. When they were not sure about the practitioners' attitudes toward the practice, they illegally arrested and persecuted these practitioners. The police stations also recruited many unemployed people in their 40's or 50's to work as public security "agents." These people wear out-of-date green police uniforms. They walk along the streets every day in groups of two or three, with electric batons in their hands. In the city, there is a group of these people every hundred meters, and they intensively monitor pedestrians.
The police department in Changchun has also formed the so-called "Background Checking Office" for the Beijing Olympics. They do strict background checks of all of the coaches, athletes, volunteers, government officials and audience members who will attend the Beijing Olympics. Their main focus is on trying to find Falun Gong practitioners and their relatives. Officers who formed the "Background Checking Office" come from the Public Security Division and the Domestic Security Division of the city police department. The Public Security Division is in charge of investigating and providing information, while the Domestic Security Division is in charge of maintaining the list of Falun Gong practitioners and cataloging all of their connections in society. They monitor "important targets," and deny practitioners and their relatives the ability to participate in or attend the Beijing Olympics. Practitioners and their relatives are listed as targets to be monitored and they can be arrested any time. Those who had already bought tickets to the games or ceremonies had those tickets confiscated.
II. Illegal Arrests in Ouya Scientific City
On the morning of April 22, practitioner Zhao Xiuying was arrested in Ouya Scientific City by plainclothes police from the Changchun Police Department. On the night of April 22, practitioners Yan Lijie and Yue Xinying, who work in Ouya Scientific Park repairing printers, accountant Bai Yuping, retiree Gao Shuyu, supermarket employee Lu Daxin, as well as a Ms. Lu Aiping and her sister, were all arrested in their homes, and the homes were ransacked. Those who participated in the arrests and ransackings include staff from the Shuguanglu Police Station and the Weixinlu Police Station in the Nanguang District, as well as a police station in Luyuan District. After one month, all of the practitioners besides Gao Shuyu were sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp for persecution. Gao Shuyu is still detained in the No. 3 Detention Station in Changchun.
On April 23, the Police Department and National Security Bureau of Changchun ordered the Shuguanglu Police Station and Mr. Li Jun, and others from the Domestic Security Division of the Nanguang Police Department, to arrest twelve practitioners including individuals named Li Jingsong, Chen Jinyu, and Wang Zhaohui, who worked at the Ouya Scientific City in Changchun and the Changjianglu Scientific City. In the following several days, they placed large numbers of plainclothes police officers in the two Scientific Cities and other locations that sell computer accessories and printing materials.
On April 26, plainclothes police seized and arrested practitioner Wang Dongbiao as he was on his way to Ouya Scientific City to repair appliances. They also ransacked his home. The next day, two more female practitioners, Ms. Yang, who is in her 50's, and Ms. Pu in her 40's, were arrested and taken to the Shuguanglu Police Station while on their way to Ouya Scientific City to fix their printers.
It is known that these arrests were planned and organized. The officers who arrested these practitioners openly stated, "We have been following you for days." According to the Clearwisdom website, more than 20 practitioners were arrested during this period. Most of those arrested were sent to forced labor camps and/or sentenced on false charges.
III. The Changchun Evening Newspaper Frames Falun Gong Practitioners with False Accusations
On the same day of the illegal arrests in Ouya Scientific City, April 23, the New Culture Newspaper published an article claiming that Falun Gong practitioners were responsible for the death of Ms. Xiao Rong. The purpose of this article was to incite hatred by ordinary people of Falun Gong and to create a justification for the latest round of persecution. The Changchun Evening Newspaper then published an article by "Chang Wan," framing Falun Gong with false accusations concerning the same incident, to create more justification for persecution and to further mislead those who do not know the truth of the matter. The articles by the Changchun Evening Newspaper were carried in many other newspapers nationwide and had a very negative effect.
Ms. Xiao Rong died on April 7, and on April 9, her body was subjected to a medical examination, and on April 10, the body was cremated. The entire case is mysterious. Before it was investigated by the court or any related departments, the media had already exaggerated the case in an extremely irresponsible manner. This conduct contradicts the basic rule of law. All fundamental principles of journalism, from objectivity to concern for the welfare of those affected by news reporting, were violated.
IV. Police in Changchun Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners
Beginning in March, before and after the arrests in Ouya Scientific City, there were also more arrests of practitioners by other police stations in Changchun:
On March 5, officers from the Yanjiaweizi Police Station arrested practitioner Song Yanjie and ransacked her home.
On March 8, officers from the Dongdaqiao Police Station arrested practitioner Yang Shuhui (in her 70's) while she clarified the truth nearby, and detained her in the Weizigou Detention Station in Changchun.
On March 12, the Dongfeng Police Station arrested Wang Yan while she clarified the truth about Falun Gong on a bus.
On March 16, multiple officers from the Heshun Police Station arrested Shao Zhenkun, who worked in a sauna center, and had shown Dafa DVDs to the customers.
On March 17, the security director of Fengchan Village, Yutan Township in the Business and Technology Development District of Changchun, together with officers from the Yingjun Police Station in the Erdao District, arrested practitioner Li Guochen. They interrogated and beat Li for the entire night. Li Guochen's face was bruised due to the beating, and he lost a tooth. They then detained him in the Weizigou Detention Station.
On April 2,Wang Zhentang from Lijiasi Village, Qijia Township, Shuangyang District in Changchun was arrested and taken to the Shuangyang District Detention Station. Later, he was sentenced to forced labor for one year.
On April 6, officers from the Nanguangchang Police Station arrested Zheng Lijuan while she was posting truth-clarification materials. Later, she was sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp.
On April 22, officers from the Yihelu Police Station in the Chaoyang District arrested two female practitioners with the surnames Lu and Jiang. They are both around 60 years old. At about the same time, the police also arrested another practitioner by the name of Fan Minxuan.
On April 24, without any clear reason, officers from the Xisantiao Police Station in Kuancheng District ransacked the home of An Fengxiang and arrested her.
On April 26, officers from the Erdao Police Department and Yangjiadian Police Station arrested practitioner Chen Liandong, his wife, and his daughter, while ransacking their home.
On May 6, practitioner Wei Juan was arrested at Changchun's Fupin Market.
On May 6, four officers broke into the Changchun home of practitioner Zhang Xin. They arrested her and took away a laptop and a printer. They then sentenced Zhang Xin to a one year term of forced labor.
On May 9, officers from the Anqing Police Station arrested practitioner Meng Qingling and detained him in the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun.
On May 25, officers from the Xinglongshan Police Station arrested a practitioner in his/her 70's at the Yongwei Tape Company. The next day, the practitioner's daughter, practitioner Yu Fengqing, was arrested at her home.
In the period of time around May 30, practitioner Gu Xirong from Luyuan District was arrested at home. Police seized a computer and a printer.
On June 10, the Police Department of Luyuan District arrested practitioner Lu Huichun from the Qiaoju Community. They took a computer and printer, as well as other items, from his home.
According to incomplete summaries such as this, from March until the writing of this report (June 18), more than 40 practitioners in Changchun have been arrested by the CCP. Most of these practitioners and their family members were previously harassed by phone calls or visits by personnel from local police stations or the community. Some practitioners' supervisors or colleagues at work were also harassed by phone calls and visits by these people, which severely interfered with the normal life and work of practitioners, their families and colleagues, and caused resentment and opposition from people in society.
V. CCP Courts Secretly Sentence Ten Practitioners to Long Jail Terms
CCP courts in Changchun have held two trials and sentenced ten practitioners to long jail terms. The arrests took place on May 9, 2007.
On April 29, the Nanguan District Court in Changchun held a secret trial. Practitioners Wang Fuxia and Shi Guoliang were sentenced to nine years of imprisonment. Gao Weixi and Yang Defang were sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. These four practitioners refused to sign the written document accepting their verdicts. Gao Weixi has already appealed to the Middle Court of Changchun and asked to cancel this illegal judgment by the Nanguan District Court. The practitioners are currently being detained at the No. 3 Detention Station in Changchun. The CCP had requested every staff member from the Nanguan District Court to join in this so-called "public trial," however, they did not notify the family members of the Falun Gong practitioners regarding the time of the trial.
In the early morning of April 30, the Luyuan District Court sentenced six practitioners. They are Mss. Ma Xiurong, Zhao Haibo, Yang Youlan, Li Jing and Cao Qing (nearly 70 years old) and Mr. Zhao Donghui. They did not notify the family members of these practitioners. Ma Xiurong, Zhao Haibo, Yang Youlan and Li Jing had been detained in Gongan Hospital leading up to the sentencing on April 30. Cao Qing has been detained in the No. 3 Detention Station in Changchun. Zheng Donghui is also being detained in Gongan Hospital.
These practitioners were healthy before being arrested. After one year of detention, they all display severe physical problems due to the persecution. Some have been detained in Gongan Hospital, and their family and friends are very concerned about the persecution to which they have been subjected during their detention. However the detention stations and police stations continue to avoid the topic and cover up the facts of these cases. Among the several dozen practitioners arrested on May 9, 2007, retired worker Wang Yuhuan was persecuted to death, Feng Lipin was beaten to the point of sustaining bone fractures, and Chen Tong was hospitalized due to force-feeding.

On April 14, 2008, Dafa practitioner Kuang Deying from Yunnan Province was once again arrested by the National Protection Team and 610 Office of Qiaojia County together with policemen from the Jiang'an Police Station, Panlong District, Kunming City. She is currently imprisoned in the Qiaojia County Detention Center.
Kuang was earlier sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a labor camp. On November 13, 2007, her three year sentence was up, but the authorities refused to release her. Throughout her imprisonment, Kuang's mother, a seventy-year old village woman, was without any income, and had to bring up Kuang's seven year old daughter.
On November 13, 2004, Kuang was distributing truth-clarification materials in the Qiaojia County Hospital. She handed a flyer to a policemen who then made up stories to stall her whilst calling another policemen to arrest her. A group of policemen led by a policeman surnamed Yang arrested her with handcuffs. Kuang began shouting, "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," "Our Teacher teaches 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance', there is nothing wrong with that, you are violating the law by arresting good people."
However, the police refused to listen, and immediately began to beat up Kuang. The police attacked her face, and her nose began bleeding profusely. At this moment, a 610 Officer arrived and asked her, "Where do you live, what is your name." Kuang did not answer, instead, she replied, "I'm here to tell you that Falun Gong is good, my Teacher is here to save sentient beings. You should protect Dafa disciples and you will receive good rewards. If you beat me up you will suffer retribution."
The policemen were furious and refused to let Kuang talk. The policemen tried to force Kuang to write the Three Statements, and they told her not to practice Falun Gong. Kuang refused to submit, and was immediately sent to the Qiaojia Detention Center. At the Detention Center, Kuang persevered in practicing the exercises for three days. However, the Detention Center's Educator surnamed Hu cuffed her up in a star-like shape with all four limbs extended, and caned her with bamboo sticks until her entire body turned green and purple. Kuang persisted in clarifying the truth to them: "Dafa disciples have done nothing wrong, you have to understand that we're doing the right thing, if you force disciples to do things that they do not wish to do, you will suffer retribution, do not become scapegoats for the evil Jiang regime."
Six months later, Kuang was sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a labor camp. On May 1, 2005, she was sent to the Kunming Forced Labor Camp. Camp Leader Wang tried to coax her and make her submit, but Kuang was not fooled. Wang then instigated drug addicts to beat her up three times. Much of Kuang's hair was pulled out. Also, policemen often beat up Dafa disciple Yang Xiaoming. Whenever Kuang saw them she would shout, "The evil policemen are beating people up, evil policemen are not allowed to persecute Dafa disciples." Then, the gang of policemen would rush up to beat her up, and also extend her sentence. None of Kuang's family members were allowed to visit her.

(Clearwisdom.net) On December, 22, 2007, Ms. Zhou Yumei, 60, a resident of Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province was arrested by agents from the National Security Division. She was detained at the Zhuozhou City Detention Center. Sources indicate that she was tried and sentenced by agents of the Second Criminal Court, Zhuozhou City on June 13, 2008, while at the detention center. Her family and her attorney have not yet been allowed to visit Ms. Zhou, and the family was prevented from appealing to a higher court.
Ms. Zhou Yumei, 60, from Lintun Village, Lintun Township in Zhuozhou City, previously suffered from ascites due to cirrhosis of the liver, as well as incontinence, headaches, and back and leg pain. She walked with the help a crutch. However, after Ms. Zhou Yumei began practicing Falun Gong, all of her diseases disappeared.
On November, 12, 1999, Ms. Zhou Yumei went to Beijing to appeal to the government on behalf of Falun Gong. She was arrested by police officers from the Qianmen Station, Beijing. On the same day, she was taken to the Zhuozhou City Police Department. There, Xie Yubao (male), chief of the Political and Security Department, along with more than twenty others, including Wang Aiguo (male), Li Baoping (male), Feng Shuquan (male), deputy Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary of Lintun Township, and Zheng Jiamin, director of the Judiciary Division, were brutally beating Falun Gong practitioners. Xie Yubao forced Ms. Zhou to kneel on the ground while holding a metal spade over her head with both hands. As soon as her arms became tired and she allowed the spade to drop down, she was beaten. Li Zhenyu and Zheng Jianmin grabbed Ms. Zhou's hair and hit her in the face. She fell to the ground and they beat her every time she tried to get up. She was detained for another 15 days and was not released until they managed to extort 1,000 yuan from her. During her detention, Xu Guangchang (male), the Party Secretary of the village, went to Ms. Zhou's home, took her residence certificate and invalidated it. Even after she was released, Li Zhenyu and Zheng Jianmin frequently came to her home to harass her.
In February 2000, Ms. Zhou Yumei was arrested again and held at a senior citizen's center for ten days. In April, 2001, Zheng Jianmin and Feng Shuquan arrived to take Ms. Zhou Yumei to the Nanma Brainwashing Center. There, they tried to force her to sign a so-called guarantee statement every day. For every meal, she received only one small steamed bun. She was later transferred to the Zhuozhou City Detention Center where she received a bowl of flour soup in the mornings and two small pieces of moldy, steamed corn bread for lunch. Her dinner was a steamed bun weighing less than 0.1 lb. After having been held for nine months, Ms. Zhou was sentenced to three years of forced labor. She was forced to serve this term at the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City.
Ms. Zhou Yumei was arrested again in her home on December 22, 2007. This time, Yang Yugang (male), deputy director of the Zhuozhou City National Security Division of Hebei Province, and three to four other police officers, together with Liu Jiang (male), and Liu Changshui (male), two officials from Lintun Village, Lintun Township, suddenly broke into her home and ransacked it for no apparent reason. They took two money vouchers and transported Ms. Zhou Yumei to a detention center. When her family went to the the detention center and talked to agents from the National Security Division to ask for a visit, their application was denied and they were not even allowed to send clothes for her.
On June 18, 2008, Ms. Zhou Yumei's daughter went to the court with an attorney, but officials at the Second Criminal Court of Zhuozhou City had already announced a verdict on June 13, 2008. According to the CCP's law, you may appeal to a higher court if you disagree with a verdict within ten days of the date the sentencing statement was issued. However, the family had not been notified of the initial sentencing hearing and it was not clear when they could file an appeal. To find out what could be done, the family and the attorney went to the detention center. They arrived at the detention center at 11:00 a.m., but the security staff member at the door told them that there was no one in the office and to come back in the afternoon. At 2:30 p.m., they returned, and they were able to talk to a young guard named Lu. The attorney showed the proper documents and asked to see Ms. Zhou. They were told that there was no one present who was responsible for the case. The attorney said, "You cannot deprive us of our rights to appeal to a higher court." The guard answered that Ms. Zhou did not want to appeal. As a result, the attorney was not allowed to talk to Ms. Zhou or to visit her.
When Ms. Zhou's family sent new summer clothes to the detention center, the guards would not allow her to have them. Her daughter said, "She was arrested in the winter and now it is summer, and she does not even have a change of clothes. Why would you not allow that? What crime did she commit? You should not treat her this way. You are simply depriving an older lady of her most basic rights." After a considerable wait and only with the intervention of the attorney did
the guard finally allow for the clothes to be brought inside. However, they still did not allow the attorney to visit Ms. Zhou. It has been reported that Ms. Zhou's health has deteriorated.

(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of May 31, 2008, Mr. Li Xianzhong, Mr. Yu You and Mr. Chen Jian of Beixing Farm in Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province were arrested by officers from the Beixing Farm Police Department. At around 9:00 a.m. on June 3, 2008, officer Zhang Chunhua, along with another officer (said to be Zhao Yingguang) came to the No. 13 Work Team and visited the residences of those villagers who had contact with Mr. Li Xianzhong. They deceived the villagers into signing documents "verifying" that Li Xianzhong said he gave the villagers truth-clarification materials. They went to another family and said, "Mr. Yu You said that he gave your family a satellite dish and Li Xianzhong said that he gave you truth-clarification materials." The ridiculous part of these claims is that these villagers don't even know who Mr. Yu You is. The police used these despicable means to frame the practitioners.
At 1:00 p.m. that day, the police department sent a note to Mr. Li Xianzhong's family and Chen Jian requesting some supplies. When Chen Jian's wife went to deliver the things, she was interrogated by Zhao Yingguang. Later Zhang Chunhua and Zhao Yingguang drove to the No. 13 Team and then to the No. 8 Team. Xia Kuai, the No. 8 Team party secretary, used a loudspeaker to announce, "Those who have Falun Gong truth clarifying VCDs or other materials should all hand them over." Xia Kuai then led the officers to the homes of a few villagers. Zhao Yingguang and Zhang Chunhua used the same despicable means to deceive the villagers, by saying, "Chen Jian told us that he gave you some VCDs and materials during the New Year. You have to sign this document to confirm." It is said that five families signed the document without even being allowed to read what was written on it. With so much commotion being created, the villagers signed the documents out of fear.
At around 3:00 p.m. on June 11, 2008, Zhao Yingguang and another police officer came to Mr. Li Xianzhong's house. They used the same despicable method to deceive Li Xianzhong's aged father into signing one of these falsified documents.
Due to the arrests of Li Xianzhong, Chen Jian and Yu You, their family members are suffering great mental pressure and pain. Now it is the busiest time during the harvest period. Chen Jian's wife, the aged father of Li Xianzhong and his wife do not have the ability to do the farming all by themselves. The police are using these kind and honest villagers, who are afraid of being implicated, to help them persecute practitioners.
The police officer always use these words, "The CCP has given you money to spend. You farmers don't even do honest work in the field and then you get involved with this, (pointing to the VCDs, materials and satellite dish). For what reason? You know that this is against the CCP." Faced with the intimidation from these accusations, the down to earth farmers signed out of fear and did exactly what the Communist agents instructed them to.
Supplementary facts: When Chen Jian (No. 8 Team member) was arrested, Gao Fengyuan (No. 8 Team leader) and party secretary Xia Kuai went to the police department to bail him out, police officer Zhang Liguo threatened them, "You have a lot of guts to bail him out. 8. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liang Like and Mr. Wu Jingyun Imprisoned
Mr. Liang Like, who is in his fifties, worked for the Food Administrative Bureau in the Beigou District of Penglai City. He was arrested on May 20 and detained in a brainwashing center. He was then transferred to a detention center to be persecuted further.
Mr. Wu Jingyun, 31, is resident of Xizheng Lijia Village, Beigou Town, Penglai City. He was arrested on May 13 and was forced to attend the brainwashing session for three days, and was then transferred to a detention center.
Mr. Zhang Xingzhou, 66, and his wife Ms. Luan Riling, 67, from Chaoshuisi Village, Penglai City, were arrested at their home on the morning of May 14 by local police. They are now currently being detained at the Penglai Detention Center.
9. [Xingtai County, Hebei Province] Police Officers Illegally Search and Ransack Civilian's Homes
On May 27, a policeman named Zhang Xianglin and staff from the Dashizhuang sub-division of Xingtai Social Security Bureau broke into the homes of Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Hu Xiuhong, Ms. Feng Qing, Ms. Zhang Haie and Ms. Zhang Shuqi. They stole satellite receivers and related equipment, as well as truth-clarification and Falun Dafa exercise CD's.
10. [Guang'an City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Tang Xiewen's Home Ransacked and His Wife Attempts Suicide Due to Threats and Intimidation
On May 19, officers from Linxi Police Unit of Guang'an City, in Zhonghe District, Yuechi County, ransacked the home of a Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Tang Xiewen. They stole truth-clarification materials, a laser printer, a color inkjet printer and related equipment. At the time, Mr. Tang was not home but the lawless policemen threatened and intimidated Tang's (non-practitioner) wife to divulge the whereabouts of Mr. Tang. Afterwards, they arrested Tang's wife and she attempted to commit suicide by drinking pesticide. She was then sent to a hospital emergency room.

On May 26, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Lezhen, a resident of Nanhu Garden, Wuchang District of Wuhan City, was arrested at her home by officers from the Nanhu Police Unit. She is now detained at the Wuhan No. 1 Women's Detention Center.

Practitioner Mr. Liu Mingzhou and other practitioners' homes were ransacked on May 20.

Practitioner Ms. Li Ping from Xiaojia Village was illegally arrested on March 26. She is currently being held in the Fushun City Detention Center.

On the evening of April 9, officers from the Gudianzi Police Unit broke into the home of practitioner Ms. Han Xuxiang, 47, and arrested Ms. Han and her husband. Ms. Han was kicked and punched by the police until she was covered in bruises. She was falsely sentenced and then sent to a forced labor camp. There is no information available about Ms. Han's husband.
Ms. Hou Chunmei, 69, and her husband were arrested by police from the Changhu Police Sub-Bureau, Hadawan Police Unit, Jilin City. Information about Ms. Hou's husband is currently unavailable. Ms. Hou was force-fed pepper powder by police officers and is having difficulty breathing.

19. [Wufeng County, Hubei Province] Ms. Xiang Yan and Ms. Wang Qiong Arrested
On May 26, Ms. Xiang Yan and Ms. Wang Qiong from Yichang City went to Wufeng County to visit relatives. They were forcibly taken away by officers from the Fufeng Township Police Unit. The two practitioners are currently being detained at the Fufeng County Detention Center.
20. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Elementary School Teacher Ms. Bai Lijie Arrested for Clarifying the Truth to Students
Ms. Bai Lijie was an elementary school teacher at the Wujianfang Elementary School in Tianyi Township, Ningcheng County, Chifeng City. Ms. Bai clarified the truth to students about Falun Gong and was then arrested by staff from the Ningcheng County Social Security Unit on May 21. Her home was also ransacked. Ms. Bai is currently being detained at the Ningcheng County Detention Center.
21. [Changde City, Hunan Province] Four Women Practitioners Arrested and Their Homes Ransacked
In March 2008, Ms. Tu Guiyin, Ms. Ding Nanzhi, Ms. Zhou Lanxiang, and Ms. Li Dongzhi, all from Hanshou County of Changde City, were reported to the police as they were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. They were arrested and their homes were ransacked by local 610 Office policemen.

22. [Xiangtan County, Hunan Province] Ms. Luo Xuemei and Mr. Liu Xingyuan Arrested
On May 29 at 9:00 a.m., a practitioner named Ms. Luo Xuemei from Xiangtan County was arrested. Her whereabouts are not known. Another practitioner, Mr. Liu Xinyuan, was arrested as he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, and he was subsequently detained and sent to a brainwashing center.
23. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Liu Jinhua Arrested for Posting Truth-clarifying Flyers
Mr. Liu Jinhua, 31, is a resident of the No. 16 Group of Daqiao Village, Tingsi Township, Xianan District, Xianning City. At around noon on May 4, Mr. Liu went to the Jiangxia District of Wuhan City to post truth-clarifying flyers, and was then arrested by staff from the Fasi Police Unit. He is now detained at the Zhifang Detention Center.
24. [Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province] School Teacher Ms. Jin Shouqun Arrested and Sentenced to Three Years in Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Jin Shouqun is an elementary school teacher at the Yuming Elementary School of Dahe Township, Liupanshui City. Ms. Jin clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the students and tried to persuade them to withdraw from the CCP and associated organizations. She was reported to the police by a parent and arrested. On the morning of April 24, 2008, Ms. Jin was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. Previously, Ms. Jin had been detained in a forced labor camp for three years.
Mr. Tang Qiong was sentenced to one year of forced labor because he told his students the truth about Falun Gong and tried to persuade them to withdraw from the CCP organizations.
25. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yue Cunhua and Ms. Liang Renzhen Arrested and Sentenced to Two Years in a Forced Labor Camp
On April 24, Ms. Yue Cunhua and Ms. Liang Renzhen were arrested and illegally detained for over 40 days at the Rongcheng City Detention Center for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. On May 22, they were sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp and were sent to the Shandong Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.
26. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Shengfa Arrested
Many officers from the Tanfu Township Police Unit arrested a Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Zhao Shenfa on April 23 at around 11:00 a.m. in Shuimingya Village. The police also stole his Falun Dafa books and materials. Mr. Zhao was later sent to the Mengyin Detention Center.
27. [Bingzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wei Jinzhi Arrested for Distributing Truth-clarification Materials
On May 28, Ms. Wei Jinzhi was reported to the police while handing out truth-clarification materials. She was arrested by officers from the development sub-division of the Bingzhou City Police Bureau.
28. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Xuerong Arrested for Distributing Truth-clarification Materials
Practitioner Ms. Liu Xuerong, in her sixties, is from Bouping District, Yantai City. In October 2004, she was reported to the police while she was handing out truth-clarification materials. She was then detained at the Yantai Lanshan Police Unit. Every day she was there, she was handcuffed to window bars in the detention cell for about three hours.
In October 2006, Ms. Liu was again arrested by staff from the Mouping Distruct Ninghai Police Unit because she was handing out truth-clarification materials. She was again handcuffed to iron bars on a daily basis.
In March 2008, police from the 610 Office and Social Security Unit of Mouping District again harassed and persecuted Ms. Liu. They used excuses such as "maintaining social stability" during the convening of the People's Congress in order to arrest her. Whenever Ms. Liu left her home, she was followed by the police. They came to her door several times during the day to harass and threaten her and this situation lasted for 18 days. Also, 18 days time from Ms. Liu's paycheck was deducted.
On May 27, 2008, Ms. Liu was arrested by the Mouping District Social Security Unit while she was distributing truth-clarification materials and has been held there since.
29. [Shandong Province] Mr. Long Lianjin's Home Ransacked and His Son Arrested
On the afternoon of May 27, police officer Dong Ning from the Bingbei Police Sub-Division led a group of people to break into the home of Mr. Long Lianjin, an employee of the Shengli Oil Excavation Factory, No. 2 Mining Division. The police took Mr. Long's computer, printer and many other personal belongings. Later, Mr. Long's son, Mr. Long Quan, was arrested at his workplace and detained at the brainwashing center in the Shengcai Training School.

Mr. Sun Yugeng, in his fifties, was distributing truth-clarifying materials on April 27, when he was reported to the police and taken away to the Yan'an Police Unit. Later, the police ransacked Mr. Sun's home. Mr. Sun has been falsely sentenced to a term in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.

On March 10, Mr. Liu Xulai from Liujiazhuang Village, Lingshou Couty, went to Baimagong Village to clarify the truth and hand out truth-clarification materials. He was reported by local villagers and arrested by officers from the Baimagang Police Unit. Mr. Liu was later sentenced to three years in the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.
34. [Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Yajun and Two Other Practitioners Arrested
On May 27 in the afternoon, a practitioner, Ms. Wu Yajun, from Gaobeidian City was studying the Fa at home with four other fellow practitioners. The police suddenly broke into her home and arrested Ms. Wu and two other practitioners from Beijing. Ms. Wu is now being detained at the Gaobeidian City Detention Center. The two practitioners from Beijing were sent back to their home police jurisdiction to be persecuted further.

His son, a non-practitioner, was also arrested in order to "accompany" him.
Mr. Li Zhijian and his wife, Ms. Li Meiying, were arrested January 6, 2008, by Xiaoyun Town police officers when the two were distributing truth-clarifying materials. They were detained in the Jinxiang County Detention Center. Ms. Li Meiying was sentenced to forced labor for one year and three months and is detained in Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Li Zhijian was sentenced to five months and being held elsewhere.

On April 24, Mr. Tian Can and another two practitioners from southeast of Guizhou went to Yuping from Kaili by train. They were tracked and arrested by the police. Now Mr. Tian Can is in Fuquan Detention Center. His family is not allowed to visit him.
In April 2007, Tian Can's wife and two other practitioners were arrested because they distributed truth-clarifying materials. Their homes were ransacked, and computers, printers, and 3,000 yuan cash were confiscated.

On the evening of May 8, Mr. Lai Borui and his wife, Ms. Liu Yuhong, from Zengcheng City, Guangzhou, were written up by more than ten policemen from Shitan Town Police Station and the Zengcheng 610 Office. Lai Borui refused to cooperate. The police ransacked his home and arrested Mr. Lai and his wife, Liu Yuhong, confiscating Dafa materials and computers. The couple was detained in Zengcheng Detetion Center.
(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

(Clearwisdom.net) It was ten years ago in May when I first started practicing Falun Gong at age 22. My child is seven years old. Needless to say, I have faced trials and tribulations in the past ten years of cultivation practice. Every Falun Gong practitioner's history of cultivation is long enough to be a book, and no one else can know the feelings and emotions which each of us has personally experienced. Nevertheless, it is the highest honor to be able to cultivate; to live in the same era when Teacher rectifies the Fa and to validate the Fa under Teacher's watch and protection. Let me not digress and summarize my recent experience of memorizing the Fa.
I started to memorize the Fa in 2006. I decided to memorize the Fa because I failed to have a tranquil mind when I studied the Fa. I tried to study the Fa quickly as though I was getting something over with. When I studied the Fa, I no longer felt blown away like I used to feel before July 20, 1999. Teacher said,
"It's not that the Fa isn't powerful anymore. It's that the requirements are higher, and that Dafa disciples must do all three things well before they will see improvement." (" Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York")
I felt very anxious. I knew I had been doing the three things, but I was not completely selfless because I clarified the truth only to selective people. During the process of doing the three things, I was tethered by human attachments. What should I do? I decided to memorize the Fa. It took me less than a year to memorize Zhuan Falun for the first time. I worked at it every day. I would memorize two paragraphs to four pages of Zhuan Falun a day.
I had learned a lesson from my previous attempts to memorize the Fa, which met with failure. This time I would not try to recite the paragraphs I had memorized the previous day. I made sure that I memorized new paragraphs daily. My goal was to memorize the paragraphs for the day. Thus I finally finished reciting Zhuan Falun for the first time.
In 2007, I started to recite Zhuan Falun for the second time. This time I recited the Fa in writing. I planned to memorize and transcribe Zhuan Falun this time and pass the transcription to a relative as a gift -- this way I could "shoot two birds with one stone." I have now almost finished, with only 20 pages left.
I stopped memorizing the Fa for some time because I started to treat it as something to get through quickly. I felt something was wrong with my mentality, so I rectified it by studying Teacher's Fa lectures since July 20, 1999. However, I didn't feel my xinxing was upgraded. In other words, I didn't feel connected to the Fa. I knew this meant I didn't have a tranquil mind and I didn't study the Fa wholeheartedly. Why? I felt bitter, but I didn't know what the root cause was. A few days ago, I resumed memorizing Zhuan Falun. Two words caught my attention: "not clean." Teacher said,
"[...] as it is your mind that is not clean. You are therefore unable to have a tranquil mind." (Lecture Nine in Zhuan Falun)
All of sudden I sensed a sharp contrast between "not clean" and "not tranquil." Teacher said, "not clean." Doesn't that mean human attachments are filthy and heavy? If I don't pour out the bad human attachments, how will I ever be able to assimilate to the characteristics of the universe --- Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance? I have been practicing Falun Gong for ten years and studied Lecture Nine countless times, but I felt as though this was the first time I noticed these two words and felt cultivating inward is the foundation of cultivation and foundation of entering tranquility. Having a tranquil mind, elevating one's level and strengthening one's ability for staying in tranquility complement each other. Why couldn't I enter tranquility? When I searched inward, I found filthy human attachments and filthy thoughts. I knew they were not part of me and I must eliminate them in my cultivation. It is crucial that I reinforce my righteous thoughts and not be manipulated by thought karma to do bad things. It is important for me to tell right from wrong. To prevail over these bad thoughts and attachments, it is essential for me to study and memorize the Fa. I know it. After all, I have been cultivating for many years.
I would like to remind fellow practitioners the importance of studying and memorizing the Fa. Only when we melt ourselves into the Fa wholeheartedly will we be able to obtain the feeling of fulfillment and joy the Fa brings us. It is a feeling that nothing else can bring you. I cherish the Fa and I hope you will too.
(Clearwisdom.net) I have given birth to four children. The first two died at the age of six and seven. I now have a son and a daughter who both suffer from brain defects. After the daughter married and left home, the three of us, my husband, my son and I, lived together and we experienced many problems.
My son developed a skin ulcer and a festering eye, my husband had skin cancer and nephritis, and I had a shattered fracture in one of my legs and I was often incontinent. We had to sell most of whatever crops we could raise on our farm in order to buy medicine. Although I had a bad leg, I still had to work hard on the farm in order to even maintain a basic living.
Early in 1999, the moment of our predestined relationship arrived. Two relatives of mine, who lived in the same village, came to talk to me. They told me that Falun Dafa was really good and advised me to practice. I thought, "I don't even want to live any longer. How can I even think about doing any exercises?" So I rejected them twice.
The third time, they took me to a family's home where Master Li's lecture was being played. When we arrived, there were many people there, sitting on the beds and floor. I don't know why, but I suddenly began crying so hard, and I felt like a child who had been separated from his parents, and after suffering so much, finally found my parents again. I felt very comfortable after crying.
I returned to listen to the rest of the lectures on the following days. On the fourth day when I arrived, many people were already there and the room was pretty full. I spotted a space nearby, but I had to get around three or four people. I quickly walked over and sat down. My relative asked, "Aunt, how did you get here?" I answered, "I just hurried over." She asked, "But, didn't you have a problem with your leg before? Stand up and check, did it get cured?" I stood up and checked my leg. I felt the strength of it. I used to have to drag my bad leg, favoring the good leg while walking, and shifting the bad one along little by little. I was unable to stride at all. I realized that Master had started cleansing my body so quickly. I felt so light and relaxed, as I had never felt before.
Next, two relatives came to talk to my husband, "You see what changes have occurred in our aunt? As long as you are sincere, no matter how serious your diseases are, you can still practice Falun Dafa." My husband said, "I'll do it! And I won't complain, even if Falun Dafa doesn't heal me. It will just be my time to go. I have taken so many medicines in my life and some have even had bad side effects. But I never complained to anyone." He returned the medicines that he had just bought and threw away the ones that had been opened, and he started practicing Falun Dafa. I remember that on the eleventh day after he began practicing, he told me, "These last two days, I worked a double shift and I didn't get any sleep for two nights, but I don't feel tired or sleepy. I used to peddle a bike for 3 or 4 km (2-2.5 miles) to and from work and would have to take five or six breaks. Now it feels like something is pushing the bike from behind and I don't even feel tired when riding up-hill. Practicing Falun Dafa is really marvelous. I would not have believed it if I hadn't experienced it myself."
The two of us, plus my son practiced the exercises in the morning and evening at the practice site. The impetigo and the festering eye that my son had, disappeared. My daughter also started to practice. She used to be unable to take care of her own child, and now she was able to do some simple housework. My family and the other practitioners were all happy together.
The changes that occurred in my family had a big impact on everyone, and dozens of the villagers obtained the Fa after seeing this, including our doctor. Since more and more people began practicing, I set up a practice site at my home. Master had opened my third eye to a certain level, and some other fellow practitioners could see the words in Zhuan Falun glowing with a golden light, and some had experienced their spirits leaving their physical bodies. Day by day the changes progressed. Our cultivation environment was so wonderful during that period.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a campaign of persecution in July 1999. The propaganda blasted on the TV and radio made me feel very oppressed. I felt that Dafa was being treated so unjustly that it could not be described in words. I realized that I had a responsibility to expose these lies. They had TV and radio, but I had my mouth.
I visited the homes in the village by going door to door, and I told them, "Dafa is good and righteous," and I talked about my own experiences. Most of the people understood and some said, "The CCP can do anything. They even killed the students in the peaceful appeal in Tiananmen Square, on June 4, 1989. You need to be aware of your own safety." I answered, "My life is given to me by Dafa. How can I give up just because Jiang Zemin started the persecution?"
My husband and I were later illegally taken to a detention center and subjected to brainwashing sessions several times. CCP officials tried to force us to give up the practice. I told them, "Your parents gave you your life and raised you. If someone ordered you to scold your parents, what would you do?" They said, "We are paid by the CCP. We do whatever it wants us to do." I asked, "If someone paid you money to kill somebody, would you do that too? Let me tell you, killing is a crime punishable by a death penalty, and this also applies to those who hire people to do such a thing." The officials were speechless in front of this old country woman. I knew that Master was helping me.

This article is based on the old woman's oral account. Most of it was written before the persecution started on July 20, 1999 and it was prepared for a local experience sharing conference. However, when the persecution began, sharing it was not possible. I have told the story of this family to many people, which has encouraged many practitioners to advance on their cultivation paths.
Now, I'm pleased to be able to tell the readers of this family's current situation. Although the aunt is now over 60 years old, she looks young, with smooth skin and a glowing face. She is very energetic and even young people can't keep up with her. Her husband works in a construction company, and earns more than 2000 yuan per month. Their children are doing very well also.

Confucius pointed out that kindness is both a political ideology and a moral standard. Kindness stresses caring for others and promotes the idea of loyalty and forgiveness. Such an ideology has a profound impact on the Chinese traditional virtues of honesty, forbearance and kindness. It still has deep meaning in today's society.
Sincerity is the foremost foundation
One time when Confucius was discussing the ways of treating others with his students, Zilu said, "If others treat me with kindness, I will be kind to them in return; If they are not kind to me, I will not be kind to them either."
Confucius commented, "This is the way of immoral people."
Zigong said, "If others treat me with kindness, I will return kindness to them; If they are not kind to me, I will guide them to kindness."
Confucius commented, "This is the way between friends."
Yanzi said, "If others treat me with kindness, I will be kind to them in return; If they are not kind to me, I will also be kind to them and guide them to kindness."
Confucius commented, "This is the way between family and relatives. If you can expand the idea and treat all people in the world with sincerity, it will true kindness!"
Treat others with kindness
Yanzi asked Confucius, "How can I achieve the goal of treating others with kindness? I wish I could achieve treating others the same regardless if they are poor or rich; be courageous without showing off my bravery; be friends only with people who have noble goals and avoid hardship throughout my life. Is this correct?"
Confucius said, "To be kind, one needs to cultivate himself and constantly improve his morality. What you said is good. Behaving the same whether they are rich or poor, you will be content and won't be driven by desire. Behaving the same no matter if you are in a high position or just among the general populous, you will always be humble and polite. Being courageous without showing off bravery, you will treat people with respect. Being friends with people who have noble goals and avoiding hardship throughout life, you can choose your friends, you words and actions with caution. This is a very good goal!"
The way of governing
Qi Gaoting asked Confucius, "I traveled a long distance and went through hardships, wearing worn out clothes and bearing gifts for you, I came in the hope that you can teach me the way of assisting the emperor to govern the country."
Confucius said, "Insist on righteousness and principles. Even if it means offending the emperor, you cannot give up righteousness and principles. Assisting the emperor doesn't mean doing things for the emperor, but rather doing things for the country and its people under the emperor. It boils down to doing righteous things and assisting the emperor to promote kindness. You need to treat everyone with sincerity. You need to set a good example and insist on righteousness. Recommend capable people to the emperor while making vicious people go away; rid yourself of your evil side and get along with the emperor according to the code and rules. You need to be sharp and yet cautious with your words and deeds; cultivate yourself and guide your people to kindness. If you can do this, you can be like a brother to the emperor even if you are thousands of miles away from him. Otherwise, you cannot make it even if you stay right next to him."
Confucius said that one needs to cultivate oneself in order to treat others well. Treating others is not the goal, but improving oneself to a higher level is. Confucius took loyalty, respect, humility and reliability as the prerequisites for being a noble man. A noble man can reach "kindness" through self-criticism and treating others with kindness and forbearance. A noble man will uphold high morality no matter what the situation is and will keep his heart pure, treat others kindly and cherish life. Be they rich or poor, he will not be moved. Power and coercion cannot make him yield.
