(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 35 cities or counties in 14 provinces. In this report, 53 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least 50 practitioners were illegally arrested.

According to an insider, Mr. Huang Chaowu was brutally beaten in Majialong Forced Labor Camp. At present, he is extremely emaciated and weak, and very near death.

On May 26, 2005, Ms. Yan Jing was arrested by Wang Zhenfu (male), director of the State Security Division under the Guancheng District Police Department. She was tortured using the "Roast Whole Lamb" (see detail from http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/10/5/53164.html). She was tortured for three hours to obtain a confession and developed heart problems. When her blood pressure went to 220, police officers took her to the Zhengzhou City Detention Center seven times, but she was never accepted. Later, she was taken to Wanqing Villa Brainwashing Center, where she was subjected to more abuse. Currently, her blood pressure is high and her injuries are severe. She requires assistance to walk. Her family has been prohibited from seeing her.

Ms. Hu Jiqiong has been detained in Fengtai Detention Center since the beginning of April 2008. She studied the Falun Dafa principles, practiced the exercises, sent forth righteous thoughts and clarified the truth about Dafa each day. Once she held a hunger strike for five days to protest her detention. On the fifth day, the guards forced the more than 30 detainees in the same cell to sit straight on a bench for the entire day without food and drink until Ms. Hu stopped her hunger strike. Due to the pressure, she stopped the hunger strike.

At about 7 p.m. on June 24, 2008, four or five police officers from Xiyuan Police Station broke into Mr. Zhang Jingjing's home and searched it. The officers did not find anything and left disgruntled.

Ms. An Wenxia, a practitioner from Tangshan City, was arrested on her way to Tangshan City from Baoding City by anti-riot police officers from Baoding City. She is being transferred to Baoding Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Zhang Xiuru from Xinglong Town, Bayan County, was arrested and her home was searched by police officers from Hulan District. She has been detained in the Hulan Detention Center. Her family has been denied visits.

Ms. Zhang is 31-years-old and her son is only three years old. After July 20, 1999, she was arrested repeatedly. In 2000, she was sentenced to forced labor. Later, she came to Hulan District with her husband to work in a coal business. She was arrested around June 18, 2008.

Ms. Zheng Aiju, from Longhua Town, Jing County, was arrested on June 11, 2008, by police officers from the State Security Division under the Hengshui City Police Department. She was detained in Hengshui City, where she was handcuffed and tortured on the tiger bench. On June 14, 2008,

after extorting 10,000 yuan from her family, she was released.

At about 4 a.m. on June 24, 2008, police officers from Changchun Road Police Station, including Jiang Xiaodong (male), broke into Mr. Su Xiansheng's home and seized 4, 000 yuan in cash, Dafa books, an MP3 player, and some audio material. Mr. Su and his wife, Ms. Li Liwen, were arrested and detained in No. 3 Detention Center in Jinlin City.

Ms. Li Xiuying from Wuqing District, Tianjin City, was arrested while she was clarifying truth in Dananwang Village, Anci District, Langfang City, on June 18, 2008. She is detained in the Langfang Brainwashing Center and being subjected to abuse.

On June 12, 2008, Ms. Yu Yonghua's home in Xinnan Village, Xiadian Town,was being monitored by Sun Hualong (male). Ms. Yu was arrested by Sun and is detained at the Lingnan Gold Mine in Zhaoyuan City.

Mr. Liu Shuwen, 73, is a practitioner from Yingzhuangkuang Village, Xiadian Town. For the last few years he has been arrested almost every year. In 2008, he has already been arrested three times, most recently several days ago.

Ms. Zhao Shuqin, manager of Xuesen Paint Company, and her sister-in-law, Ms. Yang Junmei, were arrested on January 24, 2008.They were detained in the Dongcheng District Detention Center where they were subjected to abuse. On May 13, 2008, they were taken to Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp. Twenty days later, they were transferred to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, where they have been mistreated.

The State Security Division, Criminal Police Team, and the police station in Boye County harassed and arrested practitioners using the Olympic Games as an excuse.

On June 17, 2008, when Ms. Lu Yankun, from Dongdu Village, Xiaodian Town, had just returned home after harvesting wheat, when Hu Zhiguang (male), the political head of the State Security Division, arrived at her home with more than 10 police officers. At about 2 p.m., they arrested her and she was taken to Boye County. On June 19, 2008, she was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp where she suffered abuse.

On June 19, 2008, Ms. Li Yinghua was arrested at her home in Xiaonanwang Village. After three hours of interrogation, she developed a cerebral thrombosis and was released.

On the morning of June 24, 2008, Hu Zhiguang, as well as police officers from the Chengdong Police Station, went to Daxizhang Village, hoping to arrested two practitioners, but were unsuccessful.

Ms. Cui Shufang, from Bamudi Viilage, Fengcheng Town, Jimo City, was reported to the authorities for clarifying truth in May 2008. She was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labor. She is in the No. 2 Team at Huhehaote Women's Forced Labor Camp. She has developed symptoms of diabetes due to mistreatment.

Mr. Qi Jiansheng and Mr. Wang Fenglan, who were arrested on December 24, 2007, were sentenced to four years of imprisonment on May 5, 2008. During this period, Mr. Qi's family had a lot of money extorted from them to secure his release. On May 5, 2008, he was arrested again and detained in the Shan County Detention Center. On June 12, 2008, he was taken to the Taian City No. 1 Men's Prison. Ms. Wang was taken to the Jinan City Women's Prison.

Ms. Liu Guangcun and Ms. Shen Jin'e, who were arrested on December 29, 2007, were taken to Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp on the morning of February 2, 2008. Ms. Liu was sentenced to two years of force labor, and Ms. Shen to one and a half years.

Ms. Huang Pingping, Ms. Zhi Yongping, and Ms. Wang Jun were arrested on March 31, 2008. After being detained in Heze City, they were taken to the Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp around May 4, 2008. Ms. Shen Jinhua, Ms. Meng Fanxiu, and Ms. Meng Xianhua, who were detained in the Shan County Detention Center, were also taken to the Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp on the morning of May, 8, 2008. All six practitioners were sentenced to two years of forced labor.

Ms. Shen Jinhua was tortured in the Shan County Detention Center. She was tied to a "tiger bench" for six days and nights. On the last night in the detention center, she lost consciousness after eating food provided by the detention center.

On April 6, 2008, Ms. Wang Jun (not the same Ms. Wang Jun arrested on March 31, 2008) and Ms. Tian Xin were arrested in Heze City. Ms. Wang was sentence to two years of forced labor and taken to the Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Tian is still detained in Heze City.

On the morning of June 5, 2008, a gang of police officers from Xinhua District Police Department broke into Ms. Gao Junmei's home in Daguo Village, and seized Dafa books, truth-clarifying materials, a TV, a VCD player, an MP3 player, and a cell phone. At the same time the homes of 67-year-old, Ms. Li Fenlan and 50-years-old, Ms. Gao Guiqing were also searched.

The three practitioners were arrested and detained in the Shijiazhuang City Detention Center for two weeks. Ms. Li Fenlan was released on June 20, 2008. Ms. Gao Junmei and Ms. Gao Guiqing were sentenced to one year of forced labor and taken to the Shijiazhuang City Women's Forced Labor Camp on June 19, 2008.

On June 17, 2008, police officers from the Tuanjie Road Police Station arrested Ms. Liu Sumei at her workplace, the Environmental Protection Bureau. Her home was searched and her property was seized. She is being held in a detention center and subjected to abuse.

On June 24, 2008, police officers from Nonghe Town, Tonghe County, led by director Guo Daqi (male), arrested Ms. Zhang Fengzhou and two members of her family in Ziran Village, Nonghe Town. Their whereabouts are unknown.

Mr. Shi Shaojun has been detained in the Lanxi County Detention Center for more than three months. After he was arrested, police officers searched his home but found nothing. His family has requested his release many times, but Li Guohui (male), director of Police Department, insisted on detaining Mr. Shi.

On May 18, 2008, Ms. Wang Shu and Ms. Song Shuzhen were arrested and detained. Later, they were transferred to the Bayuquan Detention Center in Yingkou City. Their families have been denied visits.

On June 15, 2008, six police officers from the State Security Bureau in the Development Zone, Yingkou City, searched Ms. Sun Ying's home. They arrested Ms. Sun's daughter, Ms. Zhang Guiying, and her son-in-law, Mr. Zhang Xiao, both non-practitioners. They were held in the Boyuquan Detention Center.

At noon on June 25, 2008, Ms. Ms. Xu Shiqing, 67, received a phone call from her husband who asked her to go home to prepare lunch. After she returned home, she found more than ten police officers in her home. Lu Ping (male) from State Security Division beat Ms. Xu and her daughter until they were badly bruised. Police officers seized her computer and telephone notebook. Ms. Xu is now in the No. 2 Detention Center in Qinghuadao City. Her daughter was released after being forced to write the so-called guarantee statement.

On June 23, 2008, Ms. Xu Chufen was arrested by police officers from the Baotai Town Police Station while she was clarifying truth in Paotai Town. Later she was transferred to the Jiedong County Detention Center.

Ms. Hu Huoying was arrested on February 29, 2008, but her family was never informed as to what had happened to her. Recently they learned that she had been detained in the Lushan District Detention Center. On June 20, 2008, she was tried in the Lushan District Court. Staff from the Duchang County Court appeared to try the case. It is said that due to insufficient evidence, this case has been postponed.

Ms. Tang Guoying from Qingshan District, Wuhan City, was unlawfully sentenced to prison in 2005. She is being held at the Division No. 1 of Ward No. 7 of the Wuhan Women's Prison. She has refused to be "transformed." As a result, she has been abused for an extended period of time. During the day, she was forced to stand for long periods of time. Sometimes her head was held down and she was bent over and had to stay in that position. She has also been deprived of sleep at night. Ms. Tang was beaten until her teeth became loose by two inmates serving terms on criminal charges.

Mr. Jing Hai is an employee at the customer service center of the General Electric Power Administration Company of the Shengli Oil Fields. He was taken into custody in October 2007 and has been held at the Binhai Detention Center affiliated with the Shengli Oil Fields. His family has not been permitted to visit him. His wife and parents were denied access to the courtroom during the unlawful trial.

Mr. Dong Liantai, 45, is a practitioner in Zhengjiu Village, Shancheng Township, Shuangcheng City. At around 7:00 p.m. on June 24, 2008, he was taken into custody on his way back from a neighboring village after the police received reports from He Wei.

On March 18, 2008, Mr. Kou Faxiong, 58, who lives in Wolong Township, was turned in to the police. Officers from the county police department and the Balipu Police Station took him into custody. The officers confiscated a photocopier and truth clarification materials and threatened his family.

At around 10:00 a.m. on March 12, officers from the county police department and the Xintian Police Station took into custody Mr. Wen Weilong, around 30 years old, who was working in a brick factory. The police confiscated a printer, a laminating machine, a small edge cutter, truth clarification materials, a television set, and a satellite dish. Mr. Wen's parents are in their 70s and their life is difficult. Mr. Wen has been on a hunger strike. His parents went to the detention center several times, but were not permitted to see their son.

Around March 14, officers from the county police department and the Chengguan Police Station took into custody Mr. Wang Fenghua, around 40 years old, who was at work at the Electric Administration Agency in Xiping Township, Lintao County.

At around 10:00 a.m. on April 22, officers from the Xiaba Town Police Station took into custody Mr. Yan Yuanjin, 60, at his home. The officers confiscated truth clarification materials. Mr. Yan's mother does not know that her son has been arrested.

The four practitioners are all being unlawfully held at the Xintao County Detention Center. Their families have not been permitted to visit them.

Ms. Cui Shuqin has been held at the Zhaozhou Detention Center after being taken from her home on April 24, 2008. It has been reported that the Zhaozhou County Court unlawfully placed her on trial on June 24, 2008.

Ms. Yang Zongqin, in her 60s, who works at the Songzao Gas and Electric Company in Datong Town, Qijiang County, Chongqing, was turned in to the police by a parent after Ms. Yang had clarified the truth to students. On June 21, 2008, officers from the Datong Town Police Station took her into custody. Ms. Yang's whereabouts are unknown.

At 2:00 p.m. on June 3, 2008, Zhao Wu (male) and other officers from the Shangjieji Police Station in Fujin City suddenly broke into Mr. Xie Xuepu's home. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa books, pictures, and a VCD player. They tried to take a television set and cellular phones, but Mr. Xie's family took these items back. The police forcibly took Mr. Xie Xuepu into custody. Mr. Xie is being held at the Shinan Detention Center in Fujin City.

On June 22, 2008, Mr. Ma Wenping, a high school teacher in Wangkui County and his wife, along with Mr. Yang Deqing, Mr. Guan Xia, and another practitioner, were taken into custody at the same time. The police also searched the five practitioners' homes.

On June 24, 2008, the Jiangdu City Court sentenced Mr. Wei Bensheng, a practitioner from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, to three and a half years in prison without notifying his family or his attorney. Mr. Wei has appealed the sentencing. The case has been transferred to the Yangzhou City Intermediate Court.

At around 8:00 a.m. on March 18, 2008, Mr. Sun Pinghua was taken into custody by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Yueyanglou District Police Department and from the Jin'eshan Police Station. He has become disabled as a result of brutal abuse by the police. On June 24, at the Yueyang City No. 1 Hospital, doctors told Mr. Sun that one of his arms had severe injuries as a result of has arm being stretched. His arm has turned numb. Physicians told Mr. Sun that he will face amputation if his arm does not recover in six months,.

At around 9:00 p.m. on June 19, 2008, Ms. Wang Juefeng, who has been held in Division No. 1 of the No. 1 Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, sat in bed with her legs crossed in the lotus position doing the Falun Gong meditation. Liu Jun (female), a labor camp guard, spotted Ms. Wang and took her to the office. Liu and other guards tortured Ms. Wang with electric shocks for over an hour. Ms. Wang suffered bruises and blisters all over her body.

On June 20, Ms. Chen Yan could not bear the humiliation and torture and banged her head against a wall. She has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

On the morning of June 24, 2008, two practitioners were taken into custody by the Datong City Police Department for clarifying the truth. The two practitioners are being held at the Zhenhua Street Police Station.

At around 2:00 p.m. on June 23, 2008, Mr. Meng Xianjie was taken into custody at his home in Qianjin Town in Jiamusi City, by over 20 police officers who claimed to be from the Jiamusi Railroad Police Division,. The police also searched his home. Mr. Meng was taken to the Jiamusi Railroad Detention Center.

At around 9:30 p.m. on June 23, 2008, Mr. Guo Tao in Kongjiazhuang Hamlet in Wanquan County was taken into custody. The police took his computer and a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong.

On the morning of June 14, 2008, Fu Wenzhong (male), director of the Baiqi Town Police Station in Shulan City, and two other police officers broke into Mr. Sun Xicheng's home in No. 2 Commune in Senshu Village. The officers found a Falun Dafa book and took Mr. Sun to the Nanshan Detention Center in Shulan City. Mr. Sun remains in custody.

Ms. Kang Zhenlan, in her 60s, is a practitioner from Zhuolu County. At around 11:00 a.m. on May 13, 2008, the police forcibly searched her while she was on her way back to Luancheng County from Shijiazhuang City. The officers took her to the Zhao County Detention Center after finding truth clarification DVDs. Ms. Kang has remained in custody for over 50 days. Her family has not been permitted to visit her.

Ms. Gao Qingxiu, around 50 years old, lives in the dormitories of the Smelting Research Institute in Haidian District. On May 23, 2008, she was taken into police custody at her home. Her whereabouts are unknown.

At around 10:00 a.m. on June 23, 2008, Ms. Liu Ying, 41, was taken into custody at her workplace by five members of the 610 Office. Her home was subsequently searched.

In addition, Ms. Xing Hui in Suihua City was also taken into custody

At around 5:00 p.m. on June 24, 2008, a group of officers from the Beicheng Police Station in Shulan City broke into Mr. Xu Yuxian's home. The officers conducted a search without identifying themselves or presenting any legal paperwork. They took Mr. Xu and his wife, Ms. Yu Yalan, into custody. Ms. Zhang Dianqin, a practitioner who was visiting Mr. Xu's at the time, along with her granddaughter, were also taken into custody. The police took the house keys from Ms. Zhang and searched her home. The three practitioners are being held at the Shulan City Detention Center.

At around 2:00 p.m. on June 23, 2008, Ms. Han Jinhua and Mr. Liang Hairong from Huai'an County went to Shuangtun Village in Xishacheng Township to clarify the truth and distribute materials. They were turned in to the police and taken into custody by the Xishacheng Township Police Station. The two practitioners' homes were searched. Zhang Wanfu and other officers beat Mr. Liang until blood came out of his nose and mouth and his face became disfigured. He could hardly move his legs. Ms. Han Jinhua was released the same day.

At around 4:00 p.m. on June 23, 2008, Zhang Bin, director of the Chaigoubao Town Police Station, and several other police officers went to search Ms. Li Chunlian's home. Five practitioners who were at Ms. Li's home were taken to the police station. The police took Falun Dafa books, truth clarification materials, and portraits of the founder of Falun Gong from Ms. Li Chunlian and Ms. Tian Guifang's homes. One practitioner managed to escape. Ms. Xing Yulian was released after the police extorted 1,000 yuan from her.

At around 4:00 p.m. on June 24, 2008, four practitioners--Mr. Liang Hairong, Ms. Li Chunlian, Ms. Tian Guifang, and Ms. Yan Xiuying--were taken to Shisanli Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City.

On May 14, 2008, Mr. Liu Dazhong, a retired employee of the Gezhouba Group Company in Yichang City; Grandma Yu; and Grandma Jiang were turned in to the police while they were clarifying the truth in a park. Officers from the Xiling Police Station and from the Domestic Security Division of the Pinghu Police Department in Gezhouba area took the three practitioners into custody.

Mr. Liu Dazhong's wife went to the Domestic Security Division of the Pinghu Police Department to ask for her husband's release. The police ignored her request. Mr. Liu is being held at the Yichang City No. 1 Detention Center. Three other practitioners--Ms. Chen Jizhen, Ms. Tan Jiazhen, and Ms. Jiang--are also being held there.

Mr. Liu had been repeatedly harassed by the Communist Party Committee of the No. 1 Gezhouba Company, the 610 Office, and the company's security division since July 20, 1999. He has also been unlawfully taken into custody.

At around 3:00 p.m. on June 15, 2008, Fu Wenzhong (male), director of the Baiqi Town Police Station, and three police officers went to Mr. Jiang Yihong's home in No. 4 Commune in Bao'an Village. The officers tried to take Mr. Jiang into custody while his family tried to talk the officers out of it. Mr. Jiang managed to escape, so the police took Mr. Jiang's mother, practitioner Ms. Tan Yulin, into custody. The officers sprayed pepper powder on her face, making her eyes tear and affecting her breathing.

Two hours later, Fu Wenzhong anda dozen officers, seven of which were from the police station, and the remaining from the Shulan City Crime Response Unit, went to Mr. Jiang's home again. They took into custody Mr. Jiang Yihong's wife, Ms. Zhang Hongjuan, and his father, Mr. Jiang Yanwen, both non-practitioners. The officers smashed Mr. Jiang's glasses and brutally beat him until his face became swollen and bruised. Blood came out of Ms. Zhang's nose and mouth. Mr. Jiang and Ms. Zhang have been taken to the Nanshan Detention Center as hostages.

Mr. Xie Xinglu has gone through severe torture on numerous occasions because he refuses to give up practicing Falun Gong. After July 1999, Mr. Xie went to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong and was taken to a detention center. The detention center guards ordered the drug addict inmates to beat him. Mr. Xie's entire body became bruised and welts appeared the size of eggs. Police officers at the domestic security division beat him and pulled out clumps of his hair. They continued to pull clump after clump while he remained steadfast in his belief in Falun Dafa.

In August 2005, officers from the Huili County Domestic Security Division and those from the local police station unlawfully searched his residence in his absence. The officers took his computer, bank card, and truth clarification materials. When Mr. Xie returned and went to the domestic security division asking them to return his personal belongings, he was taken to the Xinhua Forced Labor Camp.

During the two and a half years in the Xinhua Labor Camp, Mr. Xie was roped, shocked with electric batons, viciously beaten, soaked in cold water, deprived of sleep, prohibited from using the restroom, and otherwise humiliated for refusing to comply with the unreasonable demands of the labor camp guards. The guards assigned inmates to keep an eye on him around the clock. The inmates poked Mr. Xie's ears, nostrils, and eyes with broom straws, which resulted a severe eye infection. Yellowish fluids came out of his eyes after they were poked, and his throat remained infected for six months. He felt pain whenever he talked or swallowed water.
