Do Not Become Attached to Prophecies

(Clearwisdom.net) Certain practitioners including myself recently seem to be overly interested in prophesies and have become attached to their predictions. My experiences have taught me certain lessons. Master said,

"Some people are always attached to what prophecies have said and why it didn't happen that way. They've begun to take these as the Fa. Don't forget that since the start of Fa-rectification, everything has had to be determined by what the future needs, including what process the Fa-rectification itself goes through. Prophecies can be used only when they are conducive to saving sentient beings." ("Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005")

Prophesies may tell something in an ambiguous manner, but they do not give a complete account of what will happen and are rather vague regarding the implied time, the location, the people and the incidents. People can only comprehend their meanings "after the fact." For example, Nostradamus' prophesy about the King of Terror coming from the sky in July 1999, as we see it, refers to the persecution of Falun Gong by the evil Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It mentions a specific time and incident. But people initially interpreted the predictions to mean a global calamity, instead of the persecution of Falun Gong. Only afterwards did people realize that there was only one big incident that happened on earth in July that year.

The prophecy alluded to the terrifying persecution in an obscure manner. It did not spell it out directly, but at the same time, it warned people. Some prophecies may tell the exact time, location and the precise incident, but because few people are aware of them, they do not have much impact on society.

As for predictions about the Beijing Olympics, many people believed that Games would not take place, and that the evil Party would be destroyed. Many people may feel disappointed if the Olympic Games go on as planned. The reasons are various: it may be because some practitioners have strong attachments; or our xinxing has not advanced to the required levels; or we have not done well in saving people (people will no longer have an opportunity to declare their positions once the evil Party is destroyed; many people would be eliminated should the whole thing stop now); or it may be due to other situations, which may cause some things to change. There are bound to be various calamities in the future, but we do not know the exact time, location or the precise incidents. Once they are clearly stated in public, there will be change.

How can humans direct gods regarding what to do and how to do it? How can humans know what divine beings want to do and how to do? It would be an insult to gods if common people could know the heavenly secrets.

Is it possible for some prophecies not to be accurate because we are attached to them? I suggest that all practitioners who have such attachments again study Master's "Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference" in 2003.

Dafa disciples must cherish this time and truly do the three things well, encourage more people to quit the evil CCP and its affiliated organizations and help people realize that Falun Dafa is good, and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. Then, no matter what calamities may occur, the calamity will have nothing to do with them. This is truly offering people salvation.
