(Clearwisdom.net) On June 9, 2008, the Olympic Torch Relay arrived in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. On May 20, before the arrival of the torch, Chinese police illegally arrested seven local Falun Gong practitioners and seized their houses. Ms. Zhu Dechao; her husband, Jiang Kun, who is not a practitioner; and her daughter, Jiang Runlin, were among those arrested.

Ms. Zhu, 52, worked at the Jianshui County Commercial Bank in Honghezhou City, Yunnan Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, and as she continued her practice her various illnesses disappeared.

After the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Ms. Zhu continued to practice. In June 2006, she went to Beijing to appeal for the good name of Falun Gong and was arrested by Beijing police. After she was released, she refused to write statements denouncing Falun Gong, so she was arrested and held in a detention center, where she was persecuted for over a month. On her release, her work unit forced her to retire early. So at the end of 2000, she moved to Kunming City with her husband and daughter. Because she continued to practice and clarify the facts, her home was illegally appropriated, her daughter was arrested by the police and Ms. Zhu was forced to move back and live in her hometown in Rongchang County, Sichuan Province.

In early 2002, Peng Zhongfa, head of the 610 Office in Jianshui County, (who later died of cancer) personally led dozens of police officers and drove two thousand kilometers (1243 miles) to Rongchang County to arrest Ms. Zhu. After the arrest, on the same night, they drove all the way to Yunnan Province, taking her to Dabanqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp in Kunming. She was sentenced to a two-year term, the length of imprisonment being announced after she was there. At the time of the arrest, she had no money with her and not even a change of clothes.

After her release, she lived in Kunming. On May 20, she was once again arrested by local police led by Lian Xueteng, chief of the National Security Group of Wuhua District at Kunming City Police Station. They took her computers, printers, materials, Falun gong books, Falun Gong materials, and over ten thousand yuan in cash. She is now in the Wuhua District Detention Center.

Ms. Jiang Runlin, 27, Ms. Zhu's daughter, worked as a teller in a private business before she was arrested. She began practicing Falun Gong with her mother in 1998. In July 2000, when her mother was already detained and being abused in prison, she went to Beijing to appeal for the good name of Falun Gong. She was arrested by police in Beijing. Police in Jianshui County detained her in Jianshui Detention Center until mid-August 2000, then transferred her to Jianshui County Military Brainwashing Center. She was released in mid-September. Ms. Jiang then moved to Kunming to be with her parents. In January 2001, she was clarifying the truth when she was arrested by officers from Wuhua District Police Department, Kunming City. Her Falun Gong books and computers were taken from her. She was sentenced to two years in Kunming Womens' Forced Labor Camp. On May 20, 2008, she was again arrested by the police and her current whereabouts are unknown. It is only known that she is on a hunger strike and that her condition is critical.

Mr. Jiangkun, 60, opposes the Chinese officials' persecution of his wife and daughter. On May 20, 2008, he clashed with the police as he saw his home being seized and his family arrested. He, too, was arrested and is now in Wuhua District Detention Center, Kunming. He was wearing only a short-sleeved shirt and shorts when he was arrested, but the police refused to let him take any other clothing with him.
