Persecution of Mr. Li Zhonghui, a Senior Citizen from Xichang City, Sichuan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Note: The following is a condensed version of a more detailed article from the Minghui.org website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

Mr. Li Zhonghui is 64 years old and lives at Jianxin Bazu, Daxing county, Xichang. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996.

In July 2000, Mr. Li Zhonghui started distributing Falun Gong materials in the street. Thereafter, the police ransacked his house and arrested him. He was taken to the police station and questioned and was detained for the whole day.

In June 2001, all known Falun Gong practitioners from that same county were arrested and sentenced. Mr. Li Zhonghui was detained at the Tuohuang Detention Center for a month and repeatedly tortured. He was later released on bail for medical treatment after his family intervened. While on bail, he was repeatedly harassed. He finally chose to leave home to avoid further persecution.

At the end of 2003, he was arrested again by police who had broken into his dwelling. He was detained in Mapingba and sentenced to one year in prison for no apparent reason.

In 2004, Mr. Li Zhonghui went to Xinglong to clarify the truth and was arrested again. He was sent to a detention center where he was tortured. When Mr. Li Zhonghui went on a hunger strike, he was force fed. The force feeding severely damaged his body. A month later, the Party members again sent Mr. Li Zhonghui to Tuohuang Detention Center and sentenced him to two years and all the while torturing him. Eventually, his family managed to bail him out.
