He was the old director of the county's technology bureau. Many years ago he was the team leader of a work group in my village. I still remembered that he had done me a great favor back then and how capable he was. I was surprised and delighted that he came to visit.
I was even more surprised when he told me that he had come to return the money he owed. I was puzzled and said that there must be a mistake. He is a government official and I am a poor farmer. When did he ever borrow money from me? He smiled and said, "Let me explain. I now practice Falun Gong, which is truly wonderful. I have only practiced it for a few months and now I am free of illness. I feel so happy. Falun Gong's Teacher requires every student to cultivate his heart, to be kind and to be thoughtful of others at all times. I must not take advantage of anyone. A few days ago I suddenly remembered some things. While I was working in this village, I did you a small favor. You gave me a bottle of sesame oil as a token of appreciation. You are living with limited resources and your wife is ill. How could I take anything from you like that? The more I thought about it, the more uneasy I felt. The weather is very nice today, so I decided to come on my bicycle." Then he stuffed some money in my hands. I tried to decline it, but he insisted that I take it.
That was an unforgettable episode. After that day, the phrase, "Falun Gong is good" became deeply ingrained in the minds of my wife and me.
As an old saying goes, "You never know what will happen tomorrow." No one could imagine that Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party would start suppressing Falun Gong in 1999. TV and radio stations ran hate propaganda against Falun Gong every day. I felt so bad watching these smear campaigns. A man must abide by his conscience, and I could not turn a blind eye to it. I told that story to whoever was passing on the lies against Falun Gong. It has been nine years since the persecution of Falun Gong started, and I have been telling this story for nine years.
