Several Falun Gong Practitioners in Hanzhong City Arrested by 610 Office Agents

(Clearwisdom.net) In the beginning of August 2008, agents of the Politics and Law Committee in Hanzhong City, Shanxi Province, and the 610 Office illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioners and held brainwashing sessions in the residence hall for single men at Huayan No. 88 Mail Box at Shanxi Huaya Aero-Instrument Company, Dahekan of Nanzheng County.

Those who were detained and forced to undergo brainwashing sessions are Bai Hanying, Wen Lifang, Kang Ruizhong, Liao Jun, Zhang Xueqin, and seven other practitioners. Among them, two Falun Gong practitioners are from the post office and the reception house of Ningqiang County. The practitioners were detained in the brainwashing center in separate rooms. They were forced to continuously watch videos that slandered Falun Gong. They were not allowed to sleep. Kang Ruizhong started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. His life is now in danger.

During the Beijing Olympics in August, the authorities continuously arrested Falun Gong practitioners. Yu Kaihong, a practitioner from Hanzhong, and Zhao Xiulan, who is over 60 years old, from Mian County, are now detained in a brainwashing center. Those who directly participated in this persecution are: Ren Yuping, the director, and Yao Jianguo, the assistant director of the 610 Office from Hanzhong City. A person whose last name is Wei, from Xi'an City, slandered Falun Gong and Teacher Li. Qu Yanling from the "Anti-Cult" Association in Chenggu County and 20 others participated in persecuting practitioners. Some work units and the street offices also arranged Chinese Communist Party (CCP) staff members to participate in arresting practitioners.

From August 4th to the 6th, Ma Ping'an from the National Security Team of Hantai District, Hanzhong City and Dongguan Deputy Office surrounded Falun Gong practitioner Wen Lifang's home for three days straight. On August 6, they arrested Wen Lifang and sent her to a brainwashing center. This was the second time that Wen Lifang was detained and persecuted in a brainwashing center. For clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, Ms. Wen, who is 63 years old and a retiree from a Hardware Company in Hanzhong City, was once detained and sent to a forced labor camp, and carried out the term outside of the forced labor camp. In February 2008, Wen Lifang was arrested by Ma Ping'an from the National Security Team because she was distributing truth-clarification materials. She was interrogated and released the next day.

Kang Ruizhong, a technician from the No. 10 Mail Box of Hanzhong City, was detained for one month for going to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in 2000. Two thousand yuan was extorted from him and he had to pay over 3,000 yuan to cover travel expenses to Beijing for Ma Ping'an and several other people from the security department and the street office.

In December 2000, Kang Ruizhong was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor for going to Beijing to appeal against the persecution. He was released in April 2002 and was extorted for 2,000 yuan. While Kang Ruizhong was detained, Ma Ping'an ordered Hanzhong City Manpower Office to stop Mr. Kang's monthly retirement salary. Because Kang Ruizhong asked for his salary back, on August 3, 2008, he was again arrested by the 610 Office and sent to a brainwashing center.

Liao Jun is an engineer from Huayan No. 88 Mail Box. For practicing Falun Gong, he was dismissed from the factory. In 2007, his home was ransacked and then he was detained and sent to a forced labor camp. CCP staff members imposed heavy fines on his family before they would allow Mr. Liao to serve his term outside of the forced labor camp.

Ms. Zhang Xueqin, over 60 years old, was once detained and sent to forced labor camp in 2001 for appealing against the persecution.

The street office and some work units controlled by the police from the 610 Office went to the following practitioners' homes: Wei Caixia, Xia Jiangyan, Li Xiuhua, Zhang Mingxin, Liu Hui, Liu Xiulan, Xu Feng'e, Guo Jianzhen, and others. They stole items from their homes and threatened and harassed the practitioners. Wei Caixia and Guo Jianzhen were forced to become homeless to avoid arrest. CCP staff members took away Li Xiuhua's Falun Gong books. They extorted 2,000 yuan from Zhang Mingxin, which he had earned by his hard work of delivering goods.
