Ms. Ni Haiying and Ms. An Shufen Illegally Arrested and Put on Trial in Xuanhua County, Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) A trial was held several days ago for Ms. Ni Haiying and Ms. An Shufen by the Xuanhua County Court of Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. Ms. An Shufen was sentenced to a three-year prison term.

On June 11, 2008, officers from the Dongsheng Police Station, Xuanhua County arrested practitioner Ms. Ni Haiying and confiscated her satellite receiver, television, desktop computer and other items. Later they detained her in Xuanhua Detention Center. On August 28, officials from Xuanhua Court charged Ms. Ni Haiying with installing a satellite receiver and held a trial in an attempt to sentence her to prison. During the trial, Ni Haiying boldly told the court the truth about Falun Gong and the unjust persecution, which resulted in the court adjourning without a decision.

Practitioner Ms. An Shufen from Xuanhua County was arrested last year because she clarified the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was detained in Shisanli Detention Center, Zhangjiakou City for several months. The officials attempted to sentence her to prison, but Ms. An Shufen went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Because she firmly upheld her belief, her captors finally gave up trying to force her to give in, and let her go. Officials from the Procuratorate phoned Ms. An Shufen several times, saying that her case was not over yet. By the end of June 2008, Xuanhua County police had once again arrested Ms. An Shufen. In July 2008, Xuanhua Court officials held a secret trial for Ms. An Shufen and sentenced her to a three-year prison term.
