(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 29 cities or counties in 13 provinces. In this report, 30 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 30 practitioners were illegally arrested.

According to insiders, at the end of August 2008, there were practitioners held in Cells 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Hefei City No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Zhang Junhua is the most severely abused. She is in Cell 2. She has become emaciated, suffers bowel and bladder dysfunction, and cannot take care of herself. She sleeps on a wooden plank, wears no underwear, and is not able to eat.

Ms. Zhang Junhua lives at Room 207, Building 21, Songbiandian Garden in Hefei City. In 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. She was fined 3,500 yuan upon returning home and was held in a brainwashing center for a month. Officers from the Wuhu Road Police Station kept harassing her at her home. While the 16^th National Congress of the Communist Party was in session (in November 2002), Ms. Zhang was taken to the Hefei Detention Center and her home was searched. She was released after she stayed on a hunger strike for ten days. In September 2004, Ms. Zhang was forced to leave town. On March 28, 2008, she was again unlawfully detained.

Ms. Zhao Kunbi, in her 50s, is a retired employee of the Dongfeng Shipyard of Chongqing Changjiang Shipping Company. On the evening of August 16, 2008, she was taken into custody. Her whereabouts are unknown. This is the fourth time that Ms. Zhao has been taken into custody.

Ms. Li Xiaohua lives in a residential community in Jiangbei District, Chongqing. On August 24, she was secretly sentenced to two years of forced labor. Ms. Li has been taken to the Shabao Women's Forced Labor Camp in the Shimahe area. Her husband, Mr. Xia Daoping, was sentenced to one year of forced labor. He has been taken to Xishanping Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Guo Guanghui and Ms. Li Xiu'e, who were taken into custody at the end of April 2008, are being held in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Guo has been sentenced to one year of forced labor. Ms. Li's term is thought to be for one year as well.

Mr. Xie Jin, 46, was taken into custody on July 15, 2008. Local police officers and staff from the Chongqing University Post and Telecommunications Department broke into her home. The officers confiscated a computer, a printer, and other items. Around August 11, Ms. Xie was taken to Team 2, Division 7 of Xishanping Forced Labor Camp.

On August 25, officers from the Qijiang County Police Department broke into Mr. Fang Ping's home. The officers took stacks of cards with truth clarification content, cassette tapes, and a desktop computer belonging to Mr. Fang's family. Mr. Fang has been forced to leave town with no place to live.

Ms. Gao Dehua, in her 40s, lives in Zaonantai Village, Zhangcun Town, Weihai City. On August 6, four police officers took her from her home to the Huancui District Detention Center. She was later taken to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp and is serving two years of forced labor.

The police searched her home in June 2007, however, Ms. Gao managed to escape from town and became homeless.

On July 24, Ms. Yang Chang'e was taken into custody by a dozen police officers from the Zhijiang County 610 Office. Ms. Yang was taken to Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province the following day. Since 1999, this is the third time she has been take to Baimalong Forced Labor Camp

Mr. Yuan Zhiyong, in his 30s, runs a clinic near the Xin'egao area in Xianning City. At around noon time on August 29, Jin Guoxin and other officers from the Domestic Security Division arrived at the clinic. They secretly took Mr. Yuan to the Xian'an District Detention Center. Mr. Yuan's family was cooking in the back of the clinic and was unaware that he had been taken into custody.

During the Beijing Olympics in August 2008, 15 practitioners were held at the Xiaohezi Brainwashing Center in Guyuan County, Zhangjiakou City. Ten practitioners have returned home. They are: Ms. Zhang Fengli, Ms. Liu Tai, Ms. Liu Fengying, Ms. Li Chang'e, Ms. Zhou Peihua, Ms. Wang Jinlian, Ms. Wang Zhantao and elderly Feng from Huanggaizhuo Township, Mr. Yi Quanxue, a retired teacher of the Guyuan County No. 1 Elementary School, and Mr. Xiao Jianping from the Transportation Department.

Five practitioners remain in custody: Ms. Sun Runtao and Ms. Li Guiling from Huanggaizhuo Township, Ms. Sun Shulan from the Gaoshanbao area, Ms. Liu Guihua from the Pingdingbao Town, and an elderly lady whose name is unknown. Ms. Liu Guihua has been on a hunger strike for 10 days, and Ms. Sun Shulan for one week. The two practitioners have been brutally force-fed and injected and infused.

Mr. Xu Zhonglin, in his 70s, lives in Chenjiazui Township, Anxiang County, Changde City. In 2001, he was illegally arrested for displaying photos of the founder of Falun Gong at home. He was held at the Anxiang County Detention Center for three years.

In May 2008, Mr. Xu was working in the fields. He was forcibly taken away and sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. He is being held in Changsha Prison.

Two months passed before Mr. Xu's wife, also in her 70s, learned that Mr. Xu had been sentenced to prison. About two acres of their family farmland is deserted.

Ms. Zhou Zurong, a retired employee of the Kaiyang Phosphorous Mine in Guiyang City, was taken into custody while telling others about Falun Gong in downtown Guiyang City on August 25, 2008. Her whereabouts remain unknown.

Ms. Xu Juhua, Ms. Zhang Aiping, Ms. Zhang Qingyun, Ms. Huang Fangli, and Ms. Zhao Yingmei have been transferred from the Tianhe Detention Center. Only Ms. Huang Qian, Ms. Lai Huibing, Ms. Zou Danning, Ms. Zhao Ping, and Ms. Huang Ying remain there.

At around 5:30 a.m. on September 3, 2008, seven officers from the city and township 610 Offices and the Qianjin Police Station arrived in two police vehicles at Ms. Liu Huihai's home in Minzhu Village, Qianjin Township, Jiaohe City. The police took her to a brainwashing center.

At around 10:00 p.m. on July 3, 2008, seven or eight officers from the Yudong Police Station in Shijiazhuang City broke into the home of Mr. Sun Tao, an employee of the Shijiazhuang Urban and Suburban Construction School. The police searched Mr. Sun's home and took two computers and a printer. At the same time, the police searched the homes of Ms. Wu Yongxin and two other practitioners. The police confiscated a computer and a printer in Ms. Wu's home. Mr. Sun has been sentenced to 15 months of forced labor, and Ms. Wu to 21 months of forced labor.

Ms. Feng, 61, is a practitioner in Kuandian County, Dandong City, Liaoning Province. In spring 2006, she was arrested while delivering a brochure with the facts about Falun Gong to the Beiguan Police Station. The police took her back to her home and confiscated Falun Dafa books, extorted 3,000 yuan, and sentenced her to 18 months of forced labor. On August 2, 2008, Ms. Feng returned home. Officials of the neighborhood administration office have since harassed her at her home.

On the afternoon August 29, Ms. Feng went to visit 60-year-old, Ms. Chen Yuxian. Ms. Chen was showing Ms. Feng some brochures she had picked up when officers from the Beiguan Police Station arrived at her home in a car. The officers handcuffed Ms. Feng, Ms. Chen Yuxian, and Ms.Chen's son, Mr. Qu Kun, and took them to the police station. The next morning, Ms.Chen and her son were released. Ms. Feng remains in custody and no information about her is available.

Around 10:00 a.m. on August 26, several officers from the Hongquan Township Police Station in Qianguo County arrived at Mr. Xia Haifeng's home in Taipingzhuang Village, Hongquan Township, Qianguo County. The officers blocked both the front and back entrances and took Mr. Xia into custody.

The police had been looking for Mr. Xia since before the Olympic Games started on August 8. Mr. Xia had been forced to live away from his hometown.

Mr. Wen Shaoshuai, 19, lives in Wenjia Village, the Development District, Zhaoyuan City. He was assigned to the Yantai Branch of Fushikang Company upon graduating with an associate degree in the summer of 2008.

On the morning of August 30, 2008, company security guards found a copy of an article written by the founder of Falun Gong and another book that pays tribute to Mr. Li Hongzhi in Mr. Wen's briefcase. The security guards handcuffed him and took him to the Gu County Police Station, where the officers beat him all over. He was beaten again in the afternoon. Mr. Wen was forced to squat down until 9:00 p.m., when he was released.

The police searched his home on September 1. They confiscated a Falun Dafa book, a DVD burner, and several DVDs. Mr. Wen was fired from his job.

According to information from the Jiange County Detention Center, Mr. Wang Lin is on a hunger strike protesting the persecution. His physical condition is critical.

On August 19, 2008, Mr. Liu Chunhua, around 30 years old, was on his way out of town to work odd jobs. He was taken into custody at the Xingcheng Railroad Station. He is being held at the Lingyuan City Detention Center on a 15-day detention.

Ms. Liang Jinhui is a math teacher at Pingsha Elementary School in the Pingsha District, Zhuhai City. On July 20, Liang Rongfang (male) and other officials of the Pingsha District Stability Maintenance Office took Ms. Liang into custody.

In July 2008, Ms. Yang Xiuxia, who was an employee of the Xinzhan Hospital before she was fired for practicing Falun Gong, was taken into custody. The police searched her home and confiscated a television, a DVD player, a cellular phone, and other items. Ms. Yang is being held in Zhaoyuan Detention Center.

On August 21, Mr. Lin Decai, an employee of the Jiulongpo District Construction Factory, and his mother-in-law, Ms. Ma Yuxian, were taken into custody at their respective homes. The police confiscated Falun Dafa books. The two practitioners are being held in Huayan Detention Center in Jiulongpo District.

Ms. Zhao Xiaoqiong, a retired employee of the Jiulongpo District Construction Factory, and Ms. Dai Wenli, a practitioner in the Tanzikou area in the Jiulongpo District, were taken into custody by the Jiulongpo Police Department on July 24. On August 5, the two practitioners were taken to Jiangbei Women's Forced Labor Camp and are serving 18 months of forced labor.

Mr. Li Songying, 34, a senior engineer at the Gannan Architecture Design Institute, and several other practitioners were taken into custody by the police in Ganzhou City on August 23.

Ms. Xu Gengchun, in her 50s, and Ms. Xiurong, 48, from Xiulin Town, Jingxing County were telling others about the facts of Falun Gong in Longwo Township, Jingxing County, on August 22. Elementary students turned them in to the police. The two were taken to the Jingxing County Detention Center.

On the evening of August 25, Mr. Zhu Haoyou and his wife, Ms. Li Xiumei, returned from the detention center to their home in Maotan Village, Qiliying Town, Xinxiang County. At around 9:00 p.m. on August 30, they were resting at home when Zhang Zemin, Wang Yongbo, and other officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Xinxiang County Police Department took the two of them into custody.

At around 1:00 p.m. on July 31, 2008, officers from the Kaijiang County State Security Department and the 610 Office and officials with the residential community broke into Ms. Wu Licui's home in Kaijiang County, Dazhou City. The officers confiscated all Falun Dafa books and took 157,900 yuan in deposit receipts and cash. Ms. Wu was not at home.

On August 17, 2008, Ms. Wu was taken into custody while away from her hometown by personnel from the Kaijiang City 610 Office. On August 28, she was placed under arrest.

Four practitioners in Guangzhuang Village, Xiaonanxinbao Township, Huailai County, Hebei Province, were taken into custody before the Olympic Games, which started on August 8. They have not yet returned home.

Mr. Nan Ming, from Luotian County in Huangguang City, has been arrested, tortured, and held in a forced labor camp several times. He lost his job and has had to live away from his home town. On August 19, he was taken into custody in Wuhan City. Mr. Nan has been transferred to the Luotian No. 1 Detention Center.

Ms. Yu Ping of Jinshui District, Zhengzhou City, was taken into custody by Qinling Police Station officers in the Zhongyuan District on August 25, 2008. She is being held at the Huancuiyu Brainwashing Center in the Yingyang area.

On August 6, the police broke into Ms. Li Yurong's home in the Sugar Factory Residential Community in Changli County, Qinhuangdao City. The police searched her home and confiscated a computer, a printer, and other items. Ms. Li is being held in the Changli Detention Center. About ten days ago she was officially placed under arrest.

Mr. Yang Yongjian from the Dagang District, Tianjin, was taken into custody in July 2008. He has been sentenced to one year of forced labor and was taken to Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin. His wife, Ms. Wang Lirong, remains in custody at the Jinan Brainwashing Center.

Around August 22, 2008, Ms. Bao Suying was again taken into custody while she was telling others about Falun Gong. She served two years of forced labor and was severely abused.

On August 14, 2005, Ms. Yu Xiuhua from Rushan City was unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor. Her term ended on August 14, 2008. The Shandong No. 2 Women's Forced Labor has extended her term for three more months because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong.

Labor camp guards have beaten and cursed her. She has performed hard labor, been deprived of sleep, made to stand for long periods of time, locked in a Small Cell, and hung by handcuffs. As a result, Ms. Yu has developed severe symptoms of high blood pressure.
