(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 25 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 48 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 27 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On the evening of August 26, Ms. Wang Jianhua and Ms. Ding Xiaohua were taken into custody by the Zhongshan Police Department while they were clarifying the facts in Zhongshan District. The two practitioners remain in custody.

Mr. Kang Zhongyao, 63, lives in Dabaiyao Village in Changgucheng Township, Tang Kounty, Baoding City. On August 18, he went to the police department building to place truth clarification materials. The police tracked him down after reviewing security camera footage. On the afternoon of August 19, Jia Bingquan (male), head of the domestic security division, took Mr. Kang and three other practitioners into custody. Mr. Kang has been on a hunger strike for seven days.

At 2:00 a.m. on August 9, 2008, 50 police officers from the Chu'an Police Department, Chu'an Police Station, Qingta Police Station, Renqiu Police Department, and the Renqiu City 610 Office arrived in five police vehicles to arrest Mr. Ma Kaihua. Mr. Ma was asleep on the rooftop. The officers applied electric shocks to him with fully charged electric batons. He fell off the roof and passed out right away. The police threw him into a police vehicle and took him to the Petroleum Headquarters Hospital.

The following day when his wife learned what happened she rushed to the hospital. Mr. Ma was still unconsciousness and has been unconscious for 48 hours. He suffered bruises to his chest, back, and right arm. His right collar bone was broken, and the pain in the lower section of his spine was hard to bear.

A 52-year-old female practitioner in Qijiang County, Chongqing has been forced to leave town with nowhere to go. On August 24, two police officers arrived at her daughter's workplace and ordered her to return home and open the door for the police. The officers searched her home along with her mother's home and confiscated Falun Gong exercise cassettes and a personal computer.

Ms. Li Xiaohua, around 50 years old, lives in a residential community in Jiangbei District. On August 10, four police officers from the Xiaoyuan Police Station in Jiangbei District unlawfully took her into custody at her niece's home in the Daping area. Ms. Li's whereabouts remain unknown. Her husband, Mr. Xia Daping, had been taken by officers from the Jiangbei Police Department in July. Mr. Xia remains in custody.

Ms. Sheng Hualian, 61, is a family member of an employee of the Underground Oil Well Division of the Northern China Petroleum Administration. On July 15, 2008, officers from the Xushui Police Station in Zhengzhou City took her to the Xingyang Brainwashing Center, where she was sentenced to six months of forced labor. She returned home briefly on July 24. Three days later, officers from the Zhongyuan District Police Department, the Xushui Police Station, and the Security Section of the Northern China Petroleum Administration took Ms. Sheng from her home to the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City.

On August 4, several police officers were dispatched from the Xiangzhou Town Police Station in Zhucheng City to search practitioners' homes in Guojiatun Town. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa books and Falun Gong exercise cassettes.

On June 13, 2008, officers from the Zhenggong Police Station in Xiashan District in Weifang City searched Mr. Hu Xuefeng's home in Beigezhuang Village in Guojiatun Town. Mr. Hu was not at home and avoided being arrested. On July 18, the police went to his home a second time. The officers searched his home and questioned his wife in order to find out Mr. Hu location. The police again went to his home on August 15 and August 16. Mr. Hu was forced to leave town with his wife and their child. They could not return home and their whereabouts are unknown.

On June 13, officers from the Zhenggong Police Station in Xiashan District, Weifang City took into custody Mr. Liu Fuhai, who lives in Beigezhuang Village, Guojiatun Town. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa materials. Mr. Liu is being held at the Weibei Forced Labor Camp. His family has been denied visits.

On August 23, 2008, Ms. Zhang Xianfen, an elderly practitioner who lives in Liujiagongzhuang Hamlet in Shiqiaozi Town, Zhucheng City, was taken into custody by officers from the Chenggezhuang Police Station while she was distributing leaflets. Officers arrived in two police vehicles to search her home, but they did not find anything. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Zhucheng Detention Center on the afternoon of August 23.

On the afternoon of August 23, Ms. Chang Ruying and Ms. Qian Baohua were taken by the 110 emergency response police while clarifying the facts in the Nanshan Park. The two practitioners were taken to the Bengbu Navy School for brainwashing. It has been reported that Ms. Qian's home was unlawfully searched.

At around 7:00 a.m. on August 19, Ms. Guo Yunlan was stopped by a patrolling police in a vehicle from the Hanting Urban Police Station. One officer started searching Ms. Guo's bags that were in the basket in front of her bicycle and found truth clarification DVDs, brochures, and lucky charms. Ms. Guo was taken to the police station. Around noon., one of the police officers recognized Ms. Guo. A dozen police officers, including those from the domestic security division, went to her home in two vehicles to conducted a search. Ms. Guo was released the same afternoon. Her family was forced to pay the police 5,000 yuan in cash.

Ms. Yang Fengying, lives in Yangwa Village in Dapuhe Township, Changli County, Qinhuangdao City. On July 16, she was taken from a farm market. Ms. Yang was unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor after being held at the Changli County Detention Center for 15 days. She has been taken to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp.

At around midnight on August 26, Ms. Li Wuqun was distributing leaflets in Pingshan Township, Tangxia Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. She was spotted by the police and taken to the police station, where she remains in custody.

Ms. Li, around 50 years old, is from Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province. Since 1999, she has gone to Tiananmen Square repeatedly to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong and has been taken into custody four times. On each occasion, she had been held in police custody for at least one month and the longest duration lasting one year. For the past nine years she has been forced to stay away from town and is homeless because of her firm belief in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance.

Ms. Yang Guizhen lives in the back building of the Wanjiadenghuo Hotel in the Nandi area. On April 23, 2008, the police smashed open the door and confiscated a notebook computer, two printers, Falun Gong materials and other items. Ms. Yang was taken away and she has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Ms. Hou Wei is being held at the Gaizhou Detention Center. Ms. Wang Lijiao is at the Yingkou Detention Center. Ms. Shang Chun has been forced to leave town and is homeless.

On August 18, Mr. Shen Binggen, 67, who lives in Jinxi Town in Kunshan City, was taken into custody by officers from the Zhouzhuang Town Police Station in Zhouzhuang Town. Mr. Shen is being held at the Kunshan City Detention Center.

Between June 2008 and August 26, 2008, 13 practitioners in Yi County were taken into custody. They are: Mr. Li Shijun in Chengguan Township, Mr. Liu Cheng in Qianyang Township, Mr. Xu Zhihua and Mr. Xu Shaogang in Juliangtun Township, Ms. Tian Baoli, Ms. Fan Baorong, and Mr. Zuo Lizhi in Dayushubao Town, Ms. Tian Shaochun in Toudaohe Township, Ms. Cui Fengying in Liulonggou Township, Ms. He Baoqin in Waziyu Town, Mr. Zhang Dianguo, Ms. Guo Guixiang, and Mr. Cui Guohua in downtown Yi County.

Among them, Ms. Tian Baoli, Ms. Fan Baorong, Ms. Guo Guixiang, Mr. Cui Guohua, and Ms. Cui Fengying have been taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Liu Cheng, Mr. Li Shijun, Mr. Xu Zhihua, and Mr. Xu Shaogang have been taken to the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Zuo Lizhi is being held at the Yi County Detention Center. Mr. Zhang Dianguo managed to escape. Ms. Tian Shaochun and Ms. He Baoqin have returned home.

The domestic security police in Wucheng County unlawfully sentenced four female practitioners to forced labor. They are: Ms. Liu Tonglan, 53, from Nanguan Village, Ms. Wang Aixiang, 63, Ms. Liu Jifen, 43, and Ms. Sun Ruilan, 60. The four practitioners have been taken to the Jinan Women's No. 2 Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province.

At present, Ms. Liu Bingqin, Ms. Qin Baoli, Ms. Du Guihong, and Ms. Qin Baoli, who live in the urban area, Ms. Chen Honghui in the Haowangzhuang area, and Ms. Yuan Weifang in the Luquantun area are being held at the Wucheng Detention Center. Their families cannot visit them.

Ms. Yin Shuling and another female practitioner from the urban area were released after over 10,000 yuan was extorted from each of them by the police. Mr. Cui Juncheng and his daughter from the Haowangzhuang area have been released on parole after 16,000 yuan was extored from them.

Mr. Han Xiao in the urban area has been forced to leave town as the police have put out a warrant for his arrest. Mr. Zhang Shijie, a photographer, has been taken into custody.

On the morning of July 30, 2008, Mr. Zhang Qiugen, and his wife, Ms. Hou Xiaoping, were taken into custody by officers from the Xingtai County Police Department. The police searched the couple's home in Dashitouzhuang Hamlet in Xingtai County. Mr. Zhang is being held at the Xingtai City No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Hou is being held at the Xingtai City Brainwashing Center. In addition, Ms. Wu Xiuhong, who lives Huangtaidi Village in Nanshimen Town, has been unlawfully sentenced to two years in prison.

On the morning of May 25, 2008, Ms. Xiang Yan and Ms. Wang Qiong from Yichang City were telling others about the persecution of Falun Gong in Wufeng County and were turned in to the police. Local police officers took them into custody and they were held at the Wufeng County Detention Center.

On the morning of May 27, Xie Chaoming (male), head of the Domestic Security Division of the Wufeng County Police Department and officers from the Yunji Police Station searched Ms. Xiang and Ms. Wang's homes. The police took a large number of personal items from Ms. Wang's home.

It has been reported that the Yichang City 610 Office, the Wufeng County 610 Office, and the city and county domestic security police are planning to pronounce heavy sentencing on the two practitioners.

In early June 2008, Ms. Zhang Guozhen shouted "Falun Dafa is great!" The labor camp guards handcuffed her and then stretched back her arms. The handcuffs cut into her wrists, her hands were blistered and her wrists were terribly swollen.

Ms. Wu Xianglin is an elderly physician, who lives in Changning District, Shanghai. On or around August 12, local police officers and members of the 610 Office took her away. Her whereabouts are unknown.

On July 20, domestic security officers took Mr. Wang Chunzeng and Ms. Wang Aihua from their home in Gaogezhuang Village, Dongshaoqu Town, Miyun County, Beijing. The couple have been under constant police harassment since 1999. They were forced to away from town for five years. Mr. Wang Chunzeng was held at the Daxing Forced Labor Camp for two years. They have remained under surveillance after returning home. Their daughter is in elementary school, and their son has just reached legal age. The children's grandmother is in her seventies.

On August 18, 2008, officers from the Kuiwen District Police Department in Weifang City broke into Mr. Qiao Guochang's home in the family quarters of the Taishan Soccer School affiliated with the Luneng Group Company. They forcibly took Mr. Qiao into custody, confiscated a computer, an MP3 player, and other personal items. They forced Mr. Qiao's family to sign a detention warrant. Mr. Qiao is being held at the Weifang City Detention Center.

Ms. Li Xiuying, in her sixties, is a villager in No. 11 Team in the urban area of Huai'an County. On the evening of July 18, Wang Zhiguo (male), village Party Secretary, led other people to Ms. Li's home. The officials demanded Ms. Li's turn over her identification card. Ms. Li refused to give it to them. She has since remained under surveillance and has been frequently harassed by the officials.

Ms. Li Zhanfang, in her forties, lives in the village of Shanqitun Village in the urban area of Haui'an County. On the evening of July 18, a group of village officials claimed they only wanted to examine her personal identification card. They took a satellite antenna, a satellite receiver, Falun Dafa cassettes, and her identification card.

Ms. Zhang Chunlin, in her forties, Ms. Li, in her fifties, and Ms. Zhang Yuqin are villagers of Shanqitun Village in the urban area of Huai'an County. On the evening of July 18, Shanqitun Village officials harassed them in their homes and took away their identification cards.

On July 29, 2008, Ms. Yang Shuhua, an employee of the Kebao Coal Mine in Yiliang County, Weifang City, was taking care of her father-in-law, who was hospitalized. Guan Jianbin (male) and other Yiliang County Domestic Security Division took her from the hospital and searched Ms. Yang's home. Ms. Yang is being held at the Yiliang County Detention Center. Her case has been transferred to the court, and she will soon face a trial.

Ms. Luo Huabi, 60, has retired from the Chongqing No. 3 Radio Factory. At around 11:00 p.m. on August 11, 2008, five plainclothes police officers searched her home. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa books, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong exercise cassettes, notepads, and four silk quilt covers and other items.

Ms. Tang Xinghong from Yubei District, Chongqing has been unlawfully sentenced to five and a half years in prison. On August 26, he was transferred from the Yiwanshui Detention Center in Yubei District to the Yongchuan Prison in Chongqing.

Ms. Ji Yunzhi, 52, from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2001. She was cruelly tortured in the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, which resulted in her having broken ribs. On one occasion her entire body was paralyzed. In April 2008, Ms. Ji was again taken into custody and unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor. She is once again paralyzed from tortures, cannot move her body and is bed ridden.
