tourist and resort areas. The first event started at around 9 a.m.. Led by a traffic patrol and
volunteer security personnel, the marching band parade started from the Highland
Police Station. About 50 band members, who are all Falun Dafa practitioners,
performed the song, "Falun Dafa Is Good." Following the marching band
was a Falun Gong practitioners' parade. Along the route, the band performed "Falun Dafa Is Good,"
"Drums and Trumpets Shake the World in Ten Directions," "The Fa
Rectifies the Cosmos," "Presenting the Treasure," and "Ode
to Joy." The parade passed down many streets in Brinchang City. The local
residents and tourists were surprised and moved by the music and asked for more
information from the practitioners. According to the local residents, Brinchang
City has the most tourists and Chinese people in the highland tourist area. Next, the practitioners went to the city of Tanah Rata. The band first
performed in front of the bus terminal under a drizzling rain. Later, they
marched through the streets of the city. Mihai A. Georgescu is from Canada. He is in Malaysia working as chief
engineer for a project in Tanah Rata. "We are very grateful to this group
of kind people that formed this band. I wish you a Happy New Year and may the
band grow bigger and stronger," he said to a reporter. Mihai was born in Romania. To avoid the communist dictatorship, he moved to
Canada in the 1980s. "I know about these things (persecution), because I
lived in a communist country for over 30 years." One of the coordinators of the parade, Mary said the effect of the parade was
very good. "We felt it was very successful. The people liked us. They were
happy to see our band."
