Manager of Eisemann Center Impressed

Manager of the Eisemann Center Hawana Townsley called the performance exquisite. Ms. Townsley is a senior dancer with 42 years of dance experience. She was amazed by the classical Chinese dance because of the variety of movements. She said, "Almost every body part has different movements at the same time. It seemed so lively. The artists' arms moved smoothly like water. No matter how fast they move, they don't skip a move, which made their dance flow like water, so graceful and elegant."

Ms. Townsley said that Chinese classical dance is a beautiful presentation of the art of dance. She added that the performers gave her a feeling of peacefulness.

General Manager of NEC: The choreography is magnificent

The general manager of Japanese-based company NEC in North American said he was drawn to the show because every detail was perfect. "Every program and element has its own system but the entire show blended them together harmoniously around a specific topic. The stage effect is a world-class entertainment that could purify a man's spirit," he said.

He thought the choreographer and director of the entire show were magnificent in that they were able to blend so many styles of art and stories from different dynasties and dimensions in a systemic and beautiful way. Everything revolved around the understanding that believing in God is humanity's only hope. He believed that this is the spirit of traditional culture.

Principal of a Chinese School: Exceeds My Expectation

Ms. Meng, principal of the largest Chinese school in the Dallas area, the Huaxing Chinese School, and her family and friends came to watch the show together. Ms. Meng said, "Through the show and the body language of the dancers, my children were able to understand more about Chinese culture." Meng's son liked the dance, "Monk Ji Gong Abducts The Bride" and "Dragon Springs Drummers," while her daughter loved all the dances.

This was Ms. Meng's first time to see the show. "I was amazed because everything from the stage design to the meaning of the stories was great. Though I am not a Falun Gong practitioner, I am a Buddhist myself. I can understand the meaning of the stories.

"The pieces were about Chinese tradition and morality that people should follow. For example the story, "Mulan Joins the Battle" talks about the duties of a child. It brought not only entertainment but also the right values."

The Popps were glad they came to the show on Ms. Meng's recommendation. It gave them an opportunity to understand Chinese culture. Mr. Popp liked the fact that the hosts explained each piece in both Chinese and English, which prevented him from feeling like a stranger. Gina Popp liked the singing of soprano Jiang Min because her voice made her so relaxed and comfortable. Henry Popp loved the pieces with drumming.

Visitor from Beijing: The Show is Full of Compassion

Ms. Shang came to Dallas to visit her daughter half a year ago. She said the show was terrific because it was full of compassion. "Everything was clean and pretty; the songs, the dances, the music and the costumes. It just made me feel good and comfortable."I have seen many performances in China. They looked fancy with a lot of movement. However they just didn't connect with me. My eyes got busy watching and my mind was perturbed. Those costumes look flashy and made me feel uneasy."

Ms. Shang said that she originally thought this Chinese New Year show in America would be boring. However, being able to see this performance turned it into her best Chinese New Year, better than what she had back in China. She thanked Divine Performing Arts for such great show.

Ms. Shang said that February 3 was big day, for it was the day spring begins in the lunar calendar. "If one had a good day this day, one will have a good year. I feel honored to have seen the show and I think I will have a good year."

Ms. Shang felt sorry for her daughter because she had to miss the show for a business trip. She wanted to know when the DPA would come back to Dallas.

Immigrant from China: The Traditional Culture Is So Touching

Anna came to the US two years ago. She bought two front row tickets for her and her husband. "My husband had heart surgery a while ago; we tried very hard to make it here. After seeing the show we knew it was worth the trouble. The traditional culture was so touching. I hope people in China can see the show.

"The artists were so skillful and lovely. The costumes and their colors were incomparable. The performance was so pure and clean. The DPA's choreography is truly outstanding. No other dance troupe could ever beat it," said Anna.

Anna was moved by the piece, "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution." The story reminded her of her colleagues in China who practiced Falun Gong. "Just like in the story, they refused to give up their belief in the persecution. This is a great inspiration for me. The problems and defeat I have in my life are nothing compared to what they have suffered."

Mr. Dott is in charge of the technology department of a marketing consulting company. After seeing the show, he and his wife Lalisa said the performance was "high quality with beautiful costumes, gorgeous choreography and novel style. The Chinese culture I learned here is a lot richer and more colorful than from the text books. It brought a different sensation and style that I can apprehend better. It's not something I can get from the newspaper or books."

Mrs. Dott liked the message behind each story. She explained,"It was not just dancing. There were more important meanings to each number. The pieces asked many questions and make people ponder and look for answers." Mr. Dott added, "The purpose of the performance is to tell people that spirit is more important than material things."
