Recalling a Forgotten Memory

In February 2009, after viewing a DVD of the 2009 Shen Yun Performing Arts New Year show, Ms. Jia, a chef in her forties from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, said that Shen Yun aroused a forgotten memory.

Ms. Jia said, "I don't know why, but when I saw the backdrop of the program called "Mongolian Chopsticks", it looked so familiar that I felt so strongly that I had lived there before! There were lots of Mongolian tents laying on the great grassy plains under the blue sky in Mongolia--how beautiful they were! The beautiful motions of the dancers made me feel the natural harmony of humans without fighting for profit and fame. It's hard to find these scenes in modern society."

She also added, "I strongly believe that relationships of this kind exist between heaven and earth, that humans are reincarnated, and that humans should be good and humble."

An elderly woman, Qin Wen, also watched the 2009 Shen Yun DVD and commented, "It was an upright thing, angels descending to earth! The costumes were really beautiful, while those of modern society are ugly."

Shen Yun Provides Hope

On February 27, 2009, Liaoning Province businesswoman Ms. Wen sighed emotionally after watching the Shen Yun DVD, "The Five Millennia Begin" (first program): "It was a grand production, a fantastic show to watch in every respect! As far as the costumes, backdrops, dancing, performers, and music are concerned, they were all first class, great, and righteous!"

Ms. Wen added, "When I heard soprano Pi-Ju Huang sing 'Hesitate No Longer', I wanted to write down the beautiful lyrics right away, but found out that I could have the DVD for free, so I didn't bother to copy them. The connotation of all the songs the artists sang was exceptionally meaningful and inspiring. The song writers are very talented."

She continued, "The program 'The Udumbara's Bloom' was amazing. The legendary Udumbara flower of Buddhist lore blossoms only once every three thousand years. Nowadays, these flowers blossom almost everywhere. These bejeweled Shen Yun performers along with the dynamic backdrops presented a stunning display of beauty."

She said, "What also touched me was 'Legend of the Brush'. The saying that 'humans originated from the heavens' - I have just gotten to know today and I believe it. This is new knowledge for me. I cried a lot over the program 'Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution'; I've heard a lot about the persecution of Falun Gong, but this program was very touching!"

Ms. Wen also paid attention to the audience, including people of the East and the West in the huge, four-story theater; they were all captivated by the show on stage--it was a full house, a real spectacular!

As for the Shen Yun artists, Ms. Wen said respectfully, "These artists are extremely talented, creating these beautiful, good and righteous programs."

Ms. Wen felt that the final program, "Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope" with a backdrop showing the scene of the universe, was magical. She said, "I concur with the program's main message. Our society is way too concealed; there are lots of true pictures that we don't understand, because they are too confused and hazy. However, I know one thing, Shen Yun provides hope, and I'll tell others what I know, and I'd like to understand better Falun Gong."
