(Clearwisdom.net) On February 26, 2009, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company successfully finished its second performance in Taipei, Taiwan. Through the DPA artists' brilliant performance, the pure, righteous, and benevolent contents of the five-thousand-year traditional Chinese culture captivated Taipei audiences.

A former College of Arts Dean: I was moved to tears

Vocalist Chang Ching-Lang, former Dean of the College of Art of National Taiwan Normal University, has watched DPA performances three years in row. He said with excitement, "I feel that all the songs, dances and music are very good. They were flawless. I have not seen such a performance that was so moving. When I watched the last program, the one with a little child, Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution, I was moved to tears. Among all the programs, this dancing drama was the one that was most touching. My tears also came down when I watched the one about Mulan, Mulan Joins the Battle."

Mr. Chang highly commended DPA for its brilliance in all aspects, including the songs, dances and music. He described in detail, "From costumes to choreography, I feel (they) were all carefully and meticulously designed! A lot of effort! For example, from the performances with highly difficult movements to the ones with gentle movements, they were all very elegantly performed. It is extraordinary. Every performer's costume and dancing postures were very good and precise. This is really an artistic performance."

The singing is very touching

Being a professional vocalist, Mr. Chang applauded the performances of the four vocalists. He said, "Among the tenors, there are Bel Canto singers as well as Chinese traditional folk singers. Their pronunciations of the lyrics were very clear. The singers' facial expressions were real and their voices so expressive. The singing of the lyrics and the vocal were all done well. The contralto also sang very well. The soprano's voice was quite good."

"In particular, the backdrops, stage decorations and lights were very beautiful. They also matched the themes of the programs very well. When the singers sang, the lyrics were simultaneously projected onto the backdrop, so the audiences did not need to turn their bodies back and forth to see the lyrics as it is in the case when the lyrics are showed on the sides of the backdrops. This is a very good thing."

Gain a deeper understanding of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance

Mr. Chang believes that DPA has explicitly revealed its artistic value. He mentioned that a short while ago, he went to see the Truth-Compassion-Forbearance Arts Exhibition, "The artwork exposed the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. Aren't the scenes the painting displayed 'beautiful'? Today I came to understand the meaning! I now see the importance of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, while beauty which pleases the eyes only comes in second place. Only by practicing forbearance can one enter a different realm." "So I have deeply understood why those persecution scenes were on the paintings. Indeed, if one can go through the persecution through forbearance, one can reach another realm."

Mr. Chang said affirmatively, "I was very touched. I think that these kinds of art performances should continue. It is very good, very good! It is very touching!"

Violinist: I like each and every performance

While praising the DPA performance, violinist Kuo-Chang Chien said, "The choreographers have spent a lot of effort. I can see that much effort had been spent on bringing artistic values to the performance. It's really excellent! The costumes are very delicately designed. From the dancing and facial expressions of each dancing performer, I can see that they all had worked very hard. I feel that it was full of beauty from the Chinese traditional culture. It is very special to combine the Chinese and the Western musical instruments."

Mr. Chien happily told the reporter, "Me and my wife liked the performance very much. It is difficult to tell which one we like most, because many of them are quite good. I am particularly impressed with the Tibetan dance, Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain, as well as the Yi ethnic dance, Dance of the Yi. I am deeply impressed with their costumes, postures, as well as the overall performance."

A pottery expert: DPA performance brings harmony and peace to the soul

Under the recommendation of friends, Mr. Sung Lung-Fei, a well-known pottery expert from the National Palace Museum of Taiwan, and his wife came to watch the DPA performance. Mrs. Sung said, "I feel very harmonious and peaceful after watching the show. I feel very happy to see those divine beings and Buddhas. The beginning and the end of the show shook me. They all let me feel very good."

"The music, of course, was of traditional Chinese culture. After watching the show, I feel that it is great to be Chinese. That culture has a long history, and of course it is the Chinese culture. Furthermore, the contents were very good; the cultures of many Chinese ethnic groups were included."

Mrs. Sung smiled, "After watching the performance, I feel peaceful, harmonious, and very comfortable. My husband's health is not good and he is still recuperating from illness. In the past, he became sleepy even when he was watching a movie, but today he was quite alert."

A Beijing Opera master: The performance is very professional

Mr. Li Baochun is a famous Beijing Opera actor in Taiwan. Mr. Li, together with his artist friends, came to watch the show. He said with appreciation, "The performance of the DPA dancers was quite good. Their skills are very good. Their dancing is quite beautiful and professional."
