Ms. Vodegel-Matsen described the performance as wonderful and she greatly appreciated the dancing, which she said was "very sophisticated."

She was moved by the piece "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution." "The story with the family, was extremely moving and expressive."

What also impressed Ms. Vodegel-Matsen was the portrayal of classical Chinese culture, "What was really overwhelming, and I thought was truly impressive, was when I grasped it, that Chinese culture is much more profound than our Western culture. History really played out on stage, which was very intelligent and impressive."

Ms. Vodegel-Matsen said, "In my opinion, Chinese culture is not only older than Western culture, but it is far more advanced." She said that the spiritual messages in the show should serve as a guide for today's society.

Such Fluidity and Grace

Ms. Rutherford, a chiropractor from the United States, happened to be in the Netherlands visiting her 91-year-old mother, when she learned that Shen Yun was coming to the Rai Theatre. Her own background in the performing arts prompted her to buy tickets for herself and her mother.

Ms. Rutherford was very impressed by everything that she saw in the show. She said, "I especially appreciate the movements, because I know how difficult it is to move so fluently and with such grace. And at the same time it looks so easy, but it is not."

Mrs. Rutherford said she truly appreciated seeing the dancing. "I have always had an affinity for dance. I used to dance myself and what I have seen here was the best. It was beautiful!"

Former Professional Dancer: 'I have never seen such a show before!'

Ms. de Vlucht, a former model

Ms. de Vlucht, a former professional dancer and model, watched the show with her whole family. She said she gained new insights into 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture. "The show was simply beautiful. The performance, the costumes of the dancers, simply everything. I have never seen such a show before. It was truly beautiful."

"The colors were truly something special. The combination of yellow and pink, simply beautiful. The silk was truly gorgeous."

Ms. de Vlucht shared, "I came here especially because of the dances and to look at something beautiful, but I also was able to take something from the culture and Buddhism with me."

The dance "The Udumbara's Bloom" impressed her. "That was a successful combination," she said about the delicate costumes and the moving, changing background. According to ancient lore, the Udumbara flower blooms only every 3,000 years. It heralds the arrival of a great wise person, or an enlightened being.

Ms. de Vlucht was also greatly impressed by the drum performances. She said, "The drums were simply fantastic, especially the program piece in which the women play the drums. Simply fantastic!"
