(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of March 26, 2009, Zhongyuan District Court in Zhengzhou City convened a session to try ten practitioners, including Ms. Wang Baoxi, Mr. Liu Wei, and Mr. Zhu Yunlong. The proceedings were a travesty of justice. Facing the lawyer's questions, members of the court were left speechless.
Although the trial was supposedly public, only a few practitioners' family members were allowed to sit in the visitors' seats. The ten practitioners were brought to court in handcuffs and shackles. Mr. Liu Wei and Mr. Zhu Yunlong were wearing shackles at all times.
During the trial, Mr. Liu Wei claimed several times that his so-called "confession" was extorted by torture: he had been suspended on his back, his arms and legs stretched out and his wrists and ankles affixed to three places. He was hung like that for four to five hours. His arms and feet were visibly covered with many scars and injuries.
Ms. Wang Baoxia stated that she suffered the same torture as Mr. Liu Wei.
When the lawyer asked the public prosecutor, "How were Mr. Liu Wei's arms and feet scarred," the public prosecutor falsely claimed that Mr. Liu had been wearing the handcuffs and shackles for a long time and developed the scars as a result. The lawyer pointed out, "Such implements are supposed to protect the defendant instead of punish the defendant. How could these implements injure the defendant as they are said to have done?" The public prosecutor had nothing to say, so the lawyer proposed to the court, "The plaintiff has violated criminal law and should be investigated for criminal responsibility." The director of the court was embarrassed, saddened, and speechless.
It is clear that the police, the procuratorate, and the court are merely tools of the CCP. Trials such as this are held merely to deceive the public.
