Philadelphia: Promoting Falun Gong at the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Festival (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 30, the 3^rd Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in Philadelphia started at Franklin Square. Many Asian groups attended the festival, including Falun Gong practitioners from the greater Philadelphia area.

The practitioners set up a booth and demonstrated the exercises, and many people came to ask for more information. A lot of them signed their names in support of Falun Gong.

Young practitioners from the Minghui School performed traditional Chinese dancing and waist drums on the stage, to the audience's warm applause.

Practitioners also set up a booth to promote the Shen Yun Performing Arts show. Many people were drawn to the beautiful photos of the show. Some left their contact information for ticketing next year.

The Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is celebrated in May to commemorate the contributions of people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent in the U.S. Congress passed a joint Congressional Resolution in 1978 to commemorate Asian American Heritage Week during the first week of May. In 1990 Congress voted to expand it from a week to a month long celebration and in May 1992, the month of May was permanently designated as "Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month." Three years ago, the state of Pennsylvania started holding Asian Pacific American Heritage Month events.
