(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 35 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 23 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Mr. Zhang Yibo, Ms. Zhang Qin, Ms. Lu Yuzi, and Ms. Ye Ying have been held at the Xuhui Detention Center for over a month. The Xuhui District Police Department and the 610 Office are working with the district Procuratorate to prosecute the practitioners.

Mr. Xie Zhaoming, 49, was an employee of the Hongxing Printing Plant in Degan Town, Jiangjin District, Chongqing. In November 2003 he was taken into custody by the Jiangjin domestic security police, the police department and the Degan Police Station. On July 28, 2004, he was taken to the Yongchuan Prison. According to his family, guards in the Yongchuan Prison beat Mr. Xie to death. There were injuries to his head.

On June 10, 2009, Ms. Song Xiqin, a practitioner in Gongyi City, was deceived by local police officers to go to the Gongyi Police Station. The police secretly arrested her, then beat her. Without any evidence of wrongdoing, they took her to the Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City for one year of forced labor.

Mr. Ji Changchun was forced to leave the Niuzhuang area in Haicheng City. In order to avoid the persecution, he stayed out of town for over a year with nowhere to live. Officers from the Niuzhuang Police Station followed him and took Mr. Ji into custody around the Mid-Autumn Festival (September 14) in 2008. He was held in the Haicheng Detention Center. In the first half of this year, the Domestic Security Division of the Haicheng Police Department secretly took him to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

On July 2, 2008, Mr. Luo Xiaomin, a practitioner who was an officer with the Gushan Police Station, was arrested by the Haicheng Police Department. He was held at the Anshan Detention Center for a year. Recently he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He has been taken to Dalian Prison.

Mr. Zheng Dejiang, who lives in No. 1 Bijia Group, Anshu Town, Dongliao County, was taken into custody two weeks ago. He has been held at the Liaoyuan Detention Center.

On the morning of July 5, Mr. Liang Yu, who lives in Zhiyong Lane, Bayi Road in the Xigang District, was taken into custody by officers from the Renmin Road Police Station. The officers searched his home. He was taken to the Yaojia Detention Center on July 6.

At around 6:00 a.m. on July 7, 2009, a large number of officers from the Ning'an City No. 1 Police Station arrived at Mr. Ge Zhifu's home. They arrested Mr. Ge, his wife Ms. Tian Junhuan, and his mother Ms. Mi Xinrong. The police took away their personal belongings, which filled one and a half vehicles. Mr. Ge's taxi cab was also taken by the police.

Mr. Xue Qingguo and Ms. Wu Chunxia, both from Linqu County in Weifang City, Shandong Province, were supposed to be released from the Zhangqiu and Wangcun Forced Labor Camps in Shandong Province. The 610 Office did not allow them to return home. Instead, the two practitioners were taken to the Linqu County Brainwashing Center for continued persecution.

On July 5, 2009, Mr. Zuo Gang, who is in the No. 11 Team of the No. 6 Ward in Daqing Prison, refused to work a forced labor shift. Li Haitao, an inmate, viciously beat him. That night, Mr. Zuo was transferred to the No. 12 Team, where inmates Liang Qiu and Cong Ming beat him again.

On the morning of July 7, Li Weinan, head of the ward, and inmate Li Huiwu beat Mr. Zuo again. They then tied him up him and left him under the scorching sun until noon, when Mr. Zuo agreed to work the forced labor shift. He was then taken back to the cell.

Mr. Chen Guoqing's five-year forced labor term just ended today. Officials of the Hongshan District Political and Judiciary Committee in Wuhan City took him to an undisclosed location without letting him return to his home in the Dongxihu area of Wuhan City.

Ms. Wang Liuzhen has retired from the No. 2 Chang'an Branch Plant in Jiangbei District, Chongqing. She was taken into custody on numerous occasions by the local Yuhuacun Police Station, 610 Office, and residential committee. She was also held in a women's labor camp or the psychiatric hospital on various occasions. Ms. Wang became emaciated, and her life was in imminent danger. The officials coerced her daughter to sign paperwork that she would be dismissed from work if she did not keep an eye on her mother before releasing Ms. Wang. On June 27, Ms. Wang's daughter took her home.

On July 6, 2009, Ms. Hou Guiqin, who works in the Supplies Division of the Shengli Oil Fields located in Dongying City, was taken into custody for telling others about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held at a brainwashing center in the Shengli Oil Fields.

Ms. Xiao Silan and Ms. Zhou Yuying are elderly practitioners from Jaihe County. On July 6, 2009, they were taken into custody by local police officers in the Taipingwei area in Lanshan County across the Jiahe county line. They were taken to the Lanshan County Police Department. Ms. Zhou was released on July 7. Ms. Xiao remains at the police department.

A few days ago, Ms. Zhang in Chengguan Town, Ji County, Tianjin, was taken into custody. Ms. Liu Shuqin was implicated. Ms. Liu managed to escape.

Ms. Zheng Mei'e, who works at a cinema in the Hanting District, Weifang City, was taken into custody about a week ago while telling others about the persecution.

On July 4, practitioners were holding experience sharing meetings in the Xigang and Shahekou districts, when they were turned in to the police. Officers from the Xigang District Police Department arrested between 20 and 30 practitioners. They remain in custody.

Ms. Ren Shuqin, 60, is from Hulin City. On May 6, 2009, she was turned in to the police while she was distributing truth-clarification materials in a supermarket in Beijing. Officers from the Sijiqing Police Station took her into custody. On June 29, the police illegally sentenced her to two years of forced labor without notifying her family. Ms. Ren is being held at the Daxing District Women's Forced Labor Camp in Beijing.

On June 30, the police broke into Ms. He Zhiying's home in Beijing. They arrested Ms. He, 60; Mr. Li Shuiquan; and a practitioner known as Sister Li. The police confiscated a computer, a printer, DVDs, and books. The practitioners are being held at the Chaoyang Detention Center.

On June 11, 2009, officers from the Guangwu Town Police Station in Xingyang City arrested Ms. Che Guiyun and her husband, Mr. Ren Jindeng. Ms. Che is being held at the Henan Province Women's Forced Labor Camp, which holds over 100 practitioners. Mr. Ren is being held at the Baimiao Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Ren Cuizhu, who lives in the Zhifu District, Yantai City, was taken into custody around March 25, 2009. She has been held at a brainwashing center operated by the 610 Office.

At around 12:20 p.m. on July 2, 2009, officers from the Changyi City 610 Office and the Shibu Police Station arrived at Qianliu Village, Shibu Town, Changyi City. They broke into the homes of Mr. Yu Shenghe, Mr. Wang Hongluo, and Mr. Lin Yongshun. The officers arrested Mr. Yu and his wife, Mr. Lin and his wife, and Mr. Wang. The practitioners were all released by 5:00 p.m. that afternoon.

The police also went to the homes of Mr. Fu Zhenxue and Mr. Yu Shuxin, who are not practitioners. The police searched their homes and asked their families if the two practiced Falun Gong. The officers left when the families told them Mr. Fu and Mr. Yu are not practitioners.

Ms. Ling Dan is a chief physician of the Otolaryngology Section in the Yuzhong District No. 1 People's Hospital. On April 23, 2009, she was turned in to the police while giving out Shen Yun Performance DVDs in the Tiangongdian area. Officers from the Tiangongdian Police Station took her into custody. She was initially held at the Jiulongpo Detention Center. An officer with the surname Chen from the Jiulongpo Police Department was in charge. Ms. Ling has been taken to the Shabao Women's Forced Labor Camp in the Jiangbei District, Chongqing.

On July 6, 2009, Ms. Ye Shuyan, a teacher at the Nanshili High School in Laizhou City, was taken to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center after being turned in to the police for clarifying the truth to students.

At the end of June 2009, Ms. Li Jianying, a retired employee of the Xishuangbanna Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank, was taken into custody by officers from the prefecture 610 Office and Domestic Security Division while she was giving out brochures in the Jinghong area. Her whereabouts have been unknown for over half a month.

On July 4, Ms. Jiao Cuilan, who lives in the Licheng District in Jinan City, was taken into custody by officers from the Dongfeng Police Station while she was handing out brochures. On July 5, she was taken to the Zhangzhuang Detention Center. Officers at the Dongfeng Police Station planned to place her in detention before sentencing her to one year of forced labor.

Ms. Yin Hua and Ms. Liu Zhenxia should have been released on June 20 and July 4, 2009, respectively. However, officials at the Shandong Province No. 2 Women's Forced Labor Camp refused to release them. The officials are planning to extend the two practitioners' terms.

Ms. Wang Hui, around 40 years old, lives in the Xisanqi area in Beijing. On July 6, 2009, officers from the local police station took her into custody. The police searched Ms. Wang's home. Her whereabouts are unknown.

On the afternoon of July 4, 2009, half a dozen officers from the Huanghe Road Police Station broke into Ms. Shi Guixiang's home upon receiving reports from one of her neighbors. The police arrested 12 practitioners. They also confiscated a large number of DVDs. Ms. Shi and two other practitioners were taken to the Dalian City Police Department that afternoon. This is the third time that she has been arrested. It has been reported that she faces a prison term.

Ms. Lin Jun, who lives on the third floor of Unit 3 at No. 267 Shuangxing Street, Xigang District, Dalian City, was also arrested. Her husband went to the police station to demand her release. The police refused to release her.

Ms. Jiang Lihua, Ms. Liu Renfeng, Ms. Yang, Mr. Cong, Mr. Gong, and Ms. Ma Xiulan were released that night because of their advanced age.

Between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on July 9, 2009, half a dozen police officers and Kaiyuan Town government officials, led by Yang Chun, director of the police station, broke into Ms. Zhao Suwen's home in Mofan Village, Kaiyuan Town, Shulan City. The police took Ms. Zhao to the Shulan City Brainwashing Center. The same group of officers and officials then went to harass other practitioners in the village.

Late June 2009, Zhang Li and Dong Xinguo, guards at the No. 501 Team in the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp, ordered inmates to viciously beat Mr. Liu Jinglin. Mr. Liu passed out during the beating. His legs were seriously injured and he cannot walk. He is in critical condition.

In late June 2009, the police took into custody four practitioners in Yongji City, Yuncheng area, Shanxi Province. The male practitioner's whereabouts are unknown. The other three are female, including Ms. Wang Xiaohua and her younger sister, who are being held at the Yuncheng City Detention Center.
